Chapter 4:
Unknowingly back in the forest again, branches brushing up against his cheeks as he moved to avoid getting thoroughly smacked in the face, Sonny was running again. Running from the thing that had him fearful for his life and was chasing him, getting closer by the second. Piercing cold struck Sonny in his legs as the autumn colored wildlife which surrounded him now boasted a light frost working it's way to every leaf, branch, rock and piece of grass in the forest. Before Sonny knew it, the entire place for as far as he could see had become fully frozen.
Frost began to build up on his clothing. He looked down as his running had slowed. The frost, now fully attached to his shoes and pants which became heavier than he could even imagine. Somehow he kept himself moving forward. His breathing became unsteady; the frost has now reached his lungs. Icicles took up residency off his chin and he could even feel his hair hardening with the cold. Stumbling over tree roots his run had changed to a slow hobble and suddenly he was almost entirely frozen. "ooof" He let out what he could only imagine would be one of his last breaths as he fell to the freezing hard ground.
Rolling onto his back his eyes began to burn as his blinking slowed to a standstill. This was it, Sonny thought. He could no longer feel any part of his body and his brain seemed to be the last part of his body to be able to work. Mere seconds before he knew the evil presence would be upon him to finish the job he felt something inside of him seeping out through the cold that now enveloped his soul--a strength he never thought he could possess. His struggle to get free of the ice became a strength. "Argggg" he groaned, managing to sit up. Somehow something inside of him was powering him to break the ice that enveloped him. He screamed with such force that the ice which had built up all over him shattered into a million pieces around him.
He sat there rapidly breathing, feeling a blaze of warmth spreading through his body. The evil presence approached, the shadow hovering over him. Slowly he stood up to face the creature and he suddenly remembered it had been eluding his dreams. He stands face to face with the crow whose sinister smile had turned into a mixture of agitation and shock. It looks at Sonny as though it also remembers every single one of Sonny's previous dreams.
Much to the surprise of Sonny, the crow spoke, "SQUAWK...He knows….SQUAWK...He knows." Chills ran up Sonny's spine as the shrill voice coming from the crow embedded deep in his ears. He turned to look toward the face of the evil figure that had eluded his dreams for so long when suddenly he felt a bright warm light on his face as he opened his eyes he was sitting up in his bed, sweat dripping from every part of his body.
"Uhhhh" he slammed his body back down on his bed and closed his eyes.
