Chapter 35 - White Crusaders

Just as Catherine was deep in thought with her head lowered, her phone rang. Catherine quickly picked it up and saw that it was a call from Trent.

"Godmother."

"I hope you can bring me some good news."

"Yes. According to your request, I found an apartment on Lahaier Street and persuaded the owner to sell it to me at a low price. Of course, I used some power to 'persuade' him."

"Although what I said may be a little inappropriate, I still want to remind you that if possible, try not to cause unnecessary trouble among the ordinary citizens."

"Everything is under control, Godmother."

"Tell me the address, I'll go there now." Catherine hung up the phone.

"You, stay here and guard Link. I don't want another accident to happen to him."

"I'm at your service, Godmother."

After leaving the hospital, Catherine crossed the street and turned into an alley. After making many turns, she came out of the alley and arrived at Lahaier Street.

"Godmother."

"Please call me Catherine outside. Don't expose your identity."

"Oh, yes, Miss Catherine." Trent quickly corrected herself.

"How's the situation inside the apartment?"

"I've taken a look. Other than the fact that they've lived here for a little too long, there aren't any other problems. The people who originally lived here were an elderly couple. Later on, they passed away one after another a few years ago. They had a son who was a trader. He's a huge drunkard, so he never lived here. So I persuaded him easily."

"Not bad. Did you go through the proper procedures?"

"The apartment here is private, so private sales are not illegal. The moment I persuaded him to sell it to me, he had already signed the transfer agreement."

"Well done."

After a short while, Trent led Catherine inside the apartment.

"This is the key to the apartment." Trent respectfully handed over the keys. Looking at the spacious and bright interior, Catherine's mood improved.

"In addition, Godmother, I have some recent discoveries I'd like to share."

"So quickly?" Catherine said with a smile. She walked to the sofa and sat down, waiting for Trent to continue.

"Yes. According to the General Intelligence Bureau and the Lower City Division's situation, our opponents aren't hiding in the lower city at the moment."

"... What do you mean?" Catherine did not understand.

"It's like this. There's a group of people in the general bureau in charge of investigating the white terror incident. After a series of investigations, the General Bureau's findings to the sub-bureau were that this group of crazy fanatics came from the suburbs more than downtown. This clue also confirmed our previous guess, this group of people's activities in downtown were to expand their territory here."

The suburbs. Catherine suddenly remembered that the Coven did not have much territory there, and they had no business in the area – no wonder it was so easy for her to overlook it.

"Although I did not find out what their objective was, I checked the archives and found that this cult operates exactly like a terrorist organization 20 that appeared years ago – the Temple Crusade. The cult leader who founded this cult initially wanted to restore the glory of the Byzantine dynasty, so he named it the Crusade."

"Crusade? It's the information age. Who would believe their nonsense brainwashing?"

"Well... Logically speaking, nobody. But here we are, facing a group of fanatical religious believers. Although they didn't succeed this time, they'll strike again next time."

"This is also what I am worried about. If this so-called Crusade is only trying to expand their power to spread their religious beliefs, the police can deal with them. But if they cause injuries and even death to the people because of their beliefs, wouldn't their previous propaganda work be in vain?"

"Not exactly. I heard from the relevant person-in-charge of the dark net that the recent incidents were caused by this 'Temple Crusade'. "Perhaps the sect itself is filled with all kinds of discordant voices, causing them to rely on this kind of coercion to make a name for themselves."
