Chapter 27 - Provisional License Exam Round 2

In the anteroom, Inasa was talking to me and Kaminari.

After five minutes we really looked exhausted as the guy is the most obnoxious person I´ve ever met.

He´s not a bad guy, not at all. He just feels a little dumb. It´s exactly like when your younger cousin visits your family and starts talking to you.

I know that to him heroes are super ultra cool and awesome, but I don´t need to hear it ten times in a minute.

When we were being tormented the room started filling up with people.

After full ten minutes of suffering Inasa kind of lost interest in us and left to talk to some other dude in full armor.

Our souls returned our bodies and the room is now filled with people. We promptly finished our pizza.

"Ten minutes of talking to that guy is like 7 years on Earth." Kaminari

"You didn´t say a word, man. He could talk to a wall for hours and still be entertained."

When we recovered we saw that most of our classmates already passed.

"Hey, pissy boy I didn´t see you there." Kaminari

"What did you just call me? You´re gonna piss yourself, bastard." Bakugo

"You should really learn to control your anger."

"Yeah, or you´ll be forever alone." Kaminari

"Mind your own business first, bitch." Bakugo

"..." Kaminari

"You see what you did. He´s all sad now."

"That´s his problem." Bakugo

The announcer interrupted us.

"Now, we have all of you here so let´s move on to the next round. Please watch the screen."

We all turned to look at a giant monitor. The examination site we were in just now started exploding and it turned into a ruin.

"You´ll go into the ruins and you´ll have to rescue some civilians that were caught up in the explosion. You will act as if you already had your provisional licenses."

What goddamn troglodyte thought of these exams. Some big man at HPSC said that the only qualities heroes need are to kick ass and save people from disasters.

I´m pretty sure thirteen wouldn´t pass the first round. Fel would also have trouble in this round. Some heroes are just too specialized for this exam. They should´ve divided it into some categories.

They should at least do some background checks which I´m pretty sure they don´t do as Bakugo would be turned away at sight.

The provisional hero license is a big thing. It makes you look like a hero in the public and that in itself is a giant immunity card.

Maybe I´m wrong. What do I know? I´m just a high school student.

"The people there are highly trained rescuers. They will be feigning injuries and your job is to help them. You will be scored on how well you perform. We´ll start in ten minutes so get ready."

I moved to the corner of the room, sat down on a bench, and just waited. Kaminari and Mineta were making some ruckus the whole time so it was very loud.

*BZZT* *BZZT*

"Terrorists have launched a massive attack. Buildings are collapsing. People are hurt. It´s up to you heroes to rescue the civilians."

The room once again opened up and everyone dispersed.

I ran to what once was a factory site.

"Please help!"

There I saw an old lady being crushed under a giant metal pipe.

I activated my quirk and created an air bubble around the woman. I then detonated the pipe.

"Granny are you alright?"

"I´m dying."

I didn´t sign up for this.

I handed the lady over to the nearest first aid station other examinees created.

For a while, I helped the people in the factory area alone. I think they will give me fewer points for that.

I saved 6 people out of which the granny was the most hysterical one.

I handed the last one to the first aid station and heard another explosion. I´m surprised my ears aren´t bleeding after all those explosions.

In the cloud of dust, some villains appeared being lead by a large orca man.

"The Villains have shown up and they´re on the move. Suppress the attack and continue the rescue."

I immediately rushed at the villains. Can´t imagine dealing with the civilians for another minute.

Gang Orca saw me flying his way and he fired a hypersonic blast at me. The waves paralyzed me for a second.

However, Killer Queen doesn´t have such a weakness. I landed in front of Gang Orca and grabbed both of his hands.

He tried getting out of the hold, but my quirk seems to be stronger than his. Killer Queen then headbutted him and Stray Cat sent a full power air bullet into his stomach.

"Was that all you can do, hero?" says Gang Orca in a very menacing voice.

No reason to talk in the middle of a battle.

Killer Queen sends a few punches at his chest. Gang Orca doesn´t have a different option than to defend himself.

However, he´s not fast enough to react to Killer Queen´s speed so the punches connect. Even though it visibly hurt him he´s still standing there. I hope they paid him well for this.

Todoroki is taking care of the mob villains around me and the rescue is proceeding smoothly.

I fought Gang Orca for another five minutes until the announcer interrupted us.

"Every civilian was rescued which means that the test is over. Those who are injured get to the infirmary. The results will be announced in while. I´m gonna take a nap."

Good for you.

I left the battered Gang Orca and change back into my school uniform with my classmates. I swear if Bakugo passes I´m gonna become the head of HPSC and change the exam.

"I´m really nervous. The waiting is killing me." Jiro

"Don´t worry you can always try next year."

"Yeah, that´s exactly the encouragement I needed. Thanks, dude." Jiro

"You´ll totally pass?"

"You´re not helping yourself." Jiro

"At least you tried." Kaminari

"I´m gonna beat up both of you." Jiro

"Hahaha"

After half an hour our favorite sleepy presenter Mera got on stage in front of a big monitor.

"Long time no see, guys. Let´s get to the results. I´ll explain a little bit about the scoring system. You all started with hundred points and we deducted points based on how many mistakes you made. Simple, right?"

The screen lighted up with a lot of names.

"Anyway, the people who see their names on the screen passed. We´ll give you some sheets with details about how we deducted your points."

My name is on the screen so at least I passed. I look through the names and the only one I don´t see is Bakugo. Great, I don´t have to get into politics.

A man in a black suit and glasses handed me the sheet.

I´ve got 73 points. So, what mistakes did I make?

Lack of communication with the civilians, no care for the civilians' health, lack of cooperation with other examinees, the list goes on.

"So how many points did you get?"

"86" Jiro

"You have way more than me. There was no reason to worry."

"Those of you who didn´t pass will get another chance. You can sign up for a training course and at the end, you can get the license. For those of you who passed don´t forget what a famous American hero once said. With great power comes great responsibility."

The same guy in a black suit and sunglasses handed me my license and Aizawa drove us back to U.A.

We were all exhausted by the exam so when I got to my room I crawled on my bed and fell asleep in seconds.
