The Surprise
After Chalee stepped outside, the room fell into a tense silence.
"Doctor, when did you start feeling the stomach pain?" Dr. Noon inquired, his brow furrowing with concern.
"About an hour ago," Snow replied, wincing. "It felt like my insides were being torn apart."
Dr. Noon guided her to the examination bed. As Snow lay down, his gaze lingered on her face, lost in thought. But this distraction led to a critical error in the examination. He misinterpreted the scan, leading him to mistakenly conclude that Snow was pregnant. The reports, however, were delayed, forcing them to wait in uneasy anticipation.
Upon calling Chalee back inside, Snow's heart swelled with joy.
"What's the news, Doctor?" Chalee asked anxiously.
"Congratulations," Dr. Noon announced with a smile. "You're going to be parents. Snow is pregnant."
The room filled with an unexpected joy as Snow and Chalee embraced their dream come true. They had never felt such happiness. Chalee gazed at Snow, noticing her hand resting on her belly with a tender smile. They thanked Dr. Noon and headed home, emotions swirling in the air around them.
The Revelation
Back in their bedroom, Snow sat on the bed, and Chalee lay with his head on her thighs, clutching her hands with a deep emotion.
"Snowie," Chalee whispered, eyes glistening with tears, "how can I ever thank you for this gift? I love you forever, and I promise to protect you from every harm, even in your dreams."
Snow cupped Chalee's face, her smile soft yet radiant. "Senbae, I love you too. Thank you for taking care of me and being so protective. Please, never leave me."
Chalee felt a rush of butterflies in his chest. He hugged her tightly, and in this tender embrace, they fell asleep, dreaming of the future.
But meanwhile, back at the hospital, Dr. Noon received Snow's full reports and realized his dreadful mistake; Snow wasn't pregnant—she was having menstrual cramps. The error weighed heavily on him, and he resolved to correct it at their next appointment, wrapping the reports in a paper cover and instructing the nurse to hand them over after their consultation.
An Unwelcome Awakening
After his shift, Dr. Noon returned home, opening the door to find the lights on in Miso's room. His heart raced, fearing the worst, but relief washed over him as he found Miso awake and seemingly better. Tears of joy brimmed in Miso's eyes as Dr. Noon approached and hugged her tightly. They exchanged heartfelt greetings, and later, over dinner, they sat on the balcony discussing past events.
Miso opened an old album, revealing a photo of Chalee. "He was my crush. If it hadn't been for that woman, we could have been together," Miso's voice turned bitter. "I hate her for taking him away."
Dr. Noon's eyes narrowed. "Who is she?" he asked, pointing to Snow in the photo.
"That's the woman who stole him from me," Miso spat.
Dr. Noon realized he had feelings for Snow just as Miso had feelings for Chalee. A seed of a cruel plan began to grow in his mind—a plan to separate Chalee and Snow. He kept their upcoming visit a secret from Miso, knowing full well what he intended to do.
The Deception
The next day at the hospital, Snow and Chalee arrived for their appointment. Dr. Noon's treacherous plan was set in motion. He asked Chalee to wait outside as he conducted the examination. Snow, lost in thoughts of her husband's love, was caught off guard when Dr. Noon leaned in and whispered, "You're not pregnant."
Snow's world shattered. Tears streamed down her face as Dr. Noon chuckled to himself. "You can't be a mother anymore," he added, his voice dripping with false sympathy.
"I have to tell my husband," Snow sobbed.
"Huh! Go on, tell him," Dr. Noon sneered. "He'll hate you for it. He might even leave you."
Horrified by the thought of losing Chalee, Snow begged, "Please, don't tell him. I'll do anything."
Dr. Noon smirked, satisfied. His plan was unfolding perfectly. After the appointment, Chalee noticed Snow's sadness but chose not to press her, thinking she needed time.
As the final appointment loomed, Snow's dread grew. Inside the room, Dr. Noon instructed her to lie down again. Reluctantly, she complied, fearing the consequences. Dr. Noon approached with a syringe. "This might help you get pregnant in the future," he lied.
Snow nodded, and the half-amnesia injection rendered her semi-conscious. Meanwhile, outside, Chalee received Snow's test results from the nurse. Shocked by the news that Snow wasn't pregnant and never could be, he feared for her well-being.
"What's really happening in that room?" Chalee wondered, his mind racing. He decided to investigate, peeking into the room to find...
