Yreni sat silently in the gardens that surrounded her apartments, located in the fourth tier of the central mountain that constituted Lanthim's Estate. Only enhabiting a few rooms of the building she was living in, Yreni felt that the distance between her and her master's two wives was acceptable. Not that she wasn't visited constantly by the two of them from time to time.
Today, however, there had been no visits looking down the mountainside to see the sun descending. She could see two maids making their way to her location one she knew was from Leinea. Now since Yreni was neither married to Lanthim nor held any territorial claims as they did. Most times both of the wives would just come when they pleased. Now that someone was being sent she wondered what was going on. Now for the other individual, while she called this person a maid. It was because only students, that came to the top tiers of the estate could only enter into the Master's clan tiers as maids or servants. Grandmasters were the only exception to this rule. Now this young woman was human and was what many students would call short-fused. From her dress, Yreni could tell that this maid was not someone who had not worked in the upper tiers often or cared for the uniform regulations.
Being only half dress in combat gear and the other half in the actual maid uniform.
"Grand Master." [Both Maids]
Raising their heads as if part of the same being, Yreni looked at them both dissatisfied. On the one hand, Leinea's probably had something more interesting for her than the other.
" Falnai Guldre, it has been some time since I sent word. To Grand Master Keafle Nisrema concerning our master's condition. She is not here you are. Has she decided that remaining in the library is more important than a summons from Melfsol?" [Yreni]
Sitting so she could see the young woman's face turning violently red with anger. Yreni knew that angering this person was not a smart idea. She could rely on Lanthim to suppress Keafle Nisrema. The difference in rank between Grandmasters was a matter of order. Melfsol and herself were in eleventh order while Keafle outranked both of them being of the twentieth order. Things did not at the present, with the latter purposefully delving into the text of the library. Finding the outside world dangerous and unforgiving so rarely left the confines of the deep forest. So that being the case Falnai was her barrier from the world stopping anyone from interacting with her.
"The summons was received but the grandmaster found no reason to come herself I have come in her place." [Falnai]
There was no sign of this young woman's anger settling. Her answer was given with much disdain towards Yreni. The other maid just stood silently with no interest in what was being said. While some within the estate would claim allegiance to one grandmaster or another when it all came to a head Lanthim was that head. He had not discouraged factionalism among his students because no matter how powerful any one of the grandmasters became they could not reach where he was.
There had been an implication made that he was thirty seventh order which would place him close to a subordinate student. However, his actual Neytriel was kept deep in the Library of Denymiel in a place where his students could not yet reach. So he watches over his students as they study and grow powerful enough to enter the forest not worrying about eventual deposal.
"I see that you have come but for what purpose? If your master had received the summons she would have known of our master's injuries, and would have come presently." [Yreni]
Stopping for a moment She could see Falnai's face turn to sudden horror as she heard what Yreni had said.
"What! Master has been injured where, when, and what were you doing to allow such a thing to happen." [Falnai]
'Funny how it is those who are negligent that blame others.' [Yreni]
"I have a better question why is it that you again. Didn't listen to the entire summons when it came? Because if you had not only would your master be here herself but would have been days ago." [Yreni]
The garden seemed as if it would all burst into flames. With a very angry yet frightened Falnai just standing where she was. On the one hand, she hated being lower in rank than a demi-human. Who started the exact day she did and yet far outranked her. Then on the other was her position. That Kaelfe had mounded on her saying to her in no uncertain terms.
"No matter what do not disturb me." [Kaelfe]
Over time, when information about the outside world would come to Falnai, she would just take the important parts then send the messenger away. Other times like now she would just take the first part of the message and not hear the rest. So the only message that Kealfe got. Was for her to come to the estate for something important that happened.
And so here is Falnai, because the grandmaster she chose to serve. Decided she would not come and sent this poor thing instead.
"Well since you are here. I will send you back with a full account as to what happened. Be sure that your mistress sees it." [Yreni]
Waving the young maid away Yreni turned to the other who had yet to speak.
"Hah, well since that is out of the way. Let's hear what your mistress has sent you to tell me." [Yreni]
For Yreni dealing with the girls that had become maids in the upper tiers was easier. The interaction with other people. Aside from other students made them seem more able to express their individuality. While they still studied and entered the forest. Like all the others they had more freedom in some ways.
"Grandmaster, word has come to my lady from Our Master." [Maid]
'Hum, what can this be.' [Yreni]
"Masters mother has divorced his father a suitable place is to be prepared for her here." [Maid]
Still sitting Yreni sensed for the location of Leinea, who was currently with Lanthim's mother and the family members.
Leinea's Territory Balcony
The news of Litralia's divorce had come down the mountain with crashing force. Leinea had been reading over some academy material when word had arrived. Mynrea was the first to arrive with her sisters after the news had reached her.
"Grandmother what do you think this could mean" [Leinea]
As the four-woman came onto the balcony they received this quick question from the young dragoness sitting at her usual table.
"If anything it will be a lessening of old problems, and the forming of new ones." [Myrnea]
"The three of them are still discussing things so we decided to come to see you as we wait." [Palrena}
They had tried to get answers themselves but Lanthim had all four sisters sent away. Which left Mynrea discouraged. Yes she could see him whenever she wanted. But there were limitations and sometimes he would not see anyone. Slowly everyone found a place on the balcony to sit. The table had four chairs while there were other cushioned benches lining the entire balcony rail.
"I guess, that will mean that Syrelia will be able to live with her mother again." [Leinea]
Looking to her grandmother seated to her right Leinea did not know how Mynrea felt about that. Yes, when syrelia had been forced into an undesirable engagement, Lanthim had taken custody of her but it was Mynrea who she lived with.
"It will be good for her to be with her mother again. The child is only eleven and being in this place her abilities are developing quickly." [Mynrea]
It was true that while Mynrea had watched over. Lanthim's younger sister over the past months. She could tell that the child's ability to see the future was becoming more refined. When they first arrived here Syrelia could only see glimpses of what she could see before her brother returned. Now her sight had become much clearer than it had ever been.
"She keeps most of what she sees to herself now, and hasn't wandered into a viewing without control." [Mynrea]
Leinea looked to her grandmother surprised after hearing this. She had seen Syrelia grow up and she would randomly pop in and out of viewings all the time. For some reason and she could never figure out why the little girl never went mad because of what was happening around her.
"Are you talking about me?" [Syrelia]
At that moment five heads turned to the door to see Syrelia peering sideways through the open door.
"Yes we were just talking about your mother's divorce, and you returning to live with her when she settles here." [Leinea]
"Ah I understand but we will still live here so nothing will change." [Syrelia]
Thinking about what the girl had just said everyone nodded their head together. At first, when Mynrea had heard about the divorce she had wondered what Lanthim was prepared to do to help his mother. She was not too surprised with the answer she got. It was not like he did not have an estate the size of a city to fill as he pleased.
Thinking on Litralia everyone could sense that she and their mother, great-grandmother had left the mountain top and were on their way to Leinea's territory.
"Seflyn have my mother-in-law and my great grandmother brought in as soon as they arrive. Do not hinder their entry into my territory." [Leinea]
"Yes, my lady as you wish." [Seflyn]
The older maid quickly left so that the message could be relayed to the guards that watched the roads into her territory. After taking time to think about having more space for herself, Leinea had taken the second tier of the first mountain that made up Lanthim's estate.
Content with waiting until the two women arrived everyone silently, enjoyed the beauty of the gardens and forest below. For Mynrea's sisters while they did enjoy everything about the estate. Lanthim was not to their liking as a mate so they would eventually leave. But they would remain for the next three or so months before leaving. this had both Leinea and Mynrea feeling a little worried not knowing what the next few months would entail.
Thankfully Seflyn returned with Litralia and Nervym both looking like they had sat through a vigorous discussion.
"Mother how did it go you do not look happy about something." [Syrelia]
"Lanthim has sent word that myself you, and your brothers are removed. From any obligations to the Strentolos. Our names will be struck from the clan records completely. After that Lanthim will begin the formation of a new clan." [Litralia]
Shocked faces are all that could be seen to think that out of nothing Lanthim had suddenly found freedom from his undesirable relatives.
