The falling ice-like houses falling from the sky sent spectators running for cover. As each piece of ice fell, hitting the barrier that Lanthim and Melryn had created, it disintegrated reduced to nothing. In the unseen distance, a great roar. Could be heard that sent a chill down Syrelia's spine. Sitting with her young friend Freina Beltrie the sound of something horrible could be heard approaching. Three high templars had been placed to guard both young ladies.
Not being confined to her hospital bed as before. Freina spent a great deal of time with Syrelia when both girls could meet together. Still not fully able,, to walk without someone to carry her about. She felt like more of a burden than a friend to Syrelia who visited the young child daily.
"My lady, it is dangerous here. We must make our way to the residence quickly."
The only male member of the group of three quickly picked up Freina to which she had no objection. Over the past weeks since her healing experience, the constant appearance of these people had become familiar and desirable. Watching the panic-stricken people around them trying to escape. Syrelia did not move immediately with so much panic it would be better to stay within the barrier that protected them from possible kidnappers.
Turning to see where her brothers were. Syrelia could sense something coming from the Strentolos Clans booth. Living in her older brother's residence located close to such a large body of dense natural mana had begun to wear down the seals that kept her trapped as a first-order being.
Syrelia had known for some time that this change would come. However, has not fully removed the seal meant that she could not completely sense higher order beings around her. But as she stood feeling her brothers she could sense Melryn using magic. Lanthim with his limiter still active she could sense easily but Melryn was like a ghost seen but not.
"Take me to my brother." [Syrelia]
There was no question from any of the guards drawing closer to Syrelia one of the two female guards placed a hand on her shoulder. In that instant, their group was standing exactly behind Lanthim. Looking out towards the vast Louten Mountain range Syrelia let out a scream that frightened everyone around them.
"Syrelia, how did you get here?" [Nedral]
Torn from the immense dragon-like creature that approached from the mountains Syrelia looked at her father who was himself struck with fear with what was happening.
{Syrelia, return to the residence take Freina with you.} [Lanthim]
Turning from the advancing threat, Lanthim looked to his little sister in his eye's burned the fire of desire. Listening to a sudden roar came thundering out of the mountains. A cruel smile crept onto Lanthim's face.
{Brother, what are you smiling about? Many people will die if you do not act now.} [Syrelia]
{Lia, what have you seen?} [Lanthim]
His calm voice made Syrelia begin to cry as he communicated with her through mind.
'I do not understand why he can see through everything.'
At that moment in front of everyone present, Syrelia broke down sobbing uncontrollably. The sight of this young girl crying without care surprised everyone even Litralia seemed slightly troubled by this sudden outburst. However, there were three who were far more sympathetic to her situation. Syrelia's three brothers stood together in their presence was where she felt the safest.
"I have seen nothing brother, everything forward from now is a blur to me. I am of no use to you now." [Syrelia]
Continuing to cry the real reason for this emotional reaction had come to light. Having become dependent on her older brother in almost everything. Syrelia had become obsessed with being able to help Lanthim with her abilities. Now that those powers were rendered unusable, his need for her would diminish, with Syrelia being eventually abandoned.
It was this line of thinking that had lead Syrelia to her present situation. Crying and afraid of what would happen This young girl looked at the floor so her face would be covered by her hair. As she stood there with so many watching her she could see Lanthim's boots as he walked closer to her. She could sense him raising his right hand over her head.
'Will he strike me?'
The next moment that very hand was placed on the top of her head.
'Wait! what.'
"I am not a dog that you can just pet." [Syrelia]
Turning from fearful and crying to spiteful and angry Lanthim, just laughed her words off.
{At least you are not crying anymore. Now you will listen to me, Syrelia. Your abilities are not the reason I have taken guardianship over you. In fact, your safety and happiness are far more important than whatever power you may possess.} [Lanthim]
Turning to the door that leads to the booth Lanthim could see a portal beginning to form. Instantly ripping open space and time connecting the two locations Syrelia could see the residence on the other side. The one who had created the portal stepped through in expertly crafted magical armour and bearing a golden rune staff.
{My master, I have prepared everything as per your instructions.} [Melfsol]
Behind the elf were three large boxes marked in runes.
{Have all the High templar been deployed to deal with the lesser creatures that have followed in that beast's wake?} [Lanthim]
{Yes, master, we have also located the item in question that is believed to be attracting that monster.} [Melfsol]
Lanthim's brow furrowed as he heard this report.
Melfsol turned to his master who still was inside the barrier. As he moved closer passing the boxes through. Lanthim opened the box placed before him with both Melryn and Aldain doing the same.
{Though this is lost knowledge from a time before the second braking. The ancient text teaches of artifacts that go as far back as the first breaking. Having the power to attract powerful creatures. So young warriors could hone their skills against them. We believe that the Spear of Dyhnal is the artifact currently being used.} [Melfsol]
{If that is the case, then we must act quickly to deal with these beasts before they can damage the city.} [Lanthim]
{Also engage the enemy as far from the city it would be better that we do not have too many see what we are truly capable of doing.} [Lanthim]
{I understand my master as well may. I hope you succeed in battle.} [Melfsol]
Smiling, both men looked at each other through the barrier before Melfsol disappeared, taking both Melryn and Aldain who both had shocked looks on their faces with him. Turning his attention back to the box in front of him Lanthim withdrew the contents.
As the barrier dissipated there was no sign that anyone had ever been there. All that was present was a voice.
'You said it yourself grandmother. I am the most powerful being in our clan.'
As Syrelia continued to cry, she could sense her brothers had gone someplace far from where she stood. Lanthim sent by telepathy a message.
{My little sister today is not my day to die.} [Lanthim]
Louten Mountain range -Combat Zone-
Leinea had no experience in actual combat. However, she had followed Mynrea when she and her sisters had thrown themselves against the threat that was present. In the minds of most pureblood dragons, the lesser sub-species were dangerous and needed to be weeded out. Therefore all five were present, fighting these creatures that being, said they were dangerously outnumbered.
"How many have you killed, Palrena?" [Tayrie]
"At least seventy-three, but these numbers are uncontrollable we will have to use AOE spells to cause more damage." [Palrena]
As both finished their respective targets, Caltyen dropped twelve in a single blow.
"Target the valleys that they are using to get here, hurry."
Together the three sisters perform the same fire spell. Which comprised a large sphere of flame that would continue to condense itself over time. Allowing for a massive area effect blast that would devour everything it touched.
"Second-order Fire art Kalvyrath."
Launched as one the three spells made their way to the desired detonation points. Stopping three feet off the ground the spells discharged creating three massive rotating balls of flame incinerating everything that was touched.
"That will not stop them for long quickly regroup so we can prepare for the next wave." [Caltyen]
"Not possible sister, they are already here." [Mynrea]
Fighting alone, Mynrea had found a fourth path these creatures had begun to use. Standing strong, she had the advantage until the spells went off and her current location became overrun.
"Get out of there, Mynrea!" [Caltyen]
Moving quickly to evade the tails of two of her opponents, Mynrea jumped as high as she could, trying to create distance. This did not, however, stop the continuing attacks, and she was quickly surrounded.
"Grandmother!" [Leinea]
Smiling at the thought she might die Mynrea threw herself at the enemy in front of her only to see it be decapitated in a single slash.
In a single instant as she willingly advanced prepared for death the entire host that had surrounded her lay in pieces. Before she stood a young man who on his head bore a Neytriel and in his right hand a rune blade.
"My brother will be displeased if you decide to die here today sister." [Aldain]
Shocked by the thirteen-year-old boy who just out of nowhere destroyed all before him. Mynrea lost all control of her legs and collapsed.
"Mynrea, are you alright?" [Tayrie]
"Yes, I am fine just worn down. I have not had to fight in a great many years." [Mynrea]
Expecting her elder sister's hand, Mynrea regained her footing only to have someone suddenly appear behind her.
"You have held this position well ladies. However, you will only be in our way if you remain. Please leave the rest of this to use for now." [Melfsol]
While his words were only meant to reflect Lanthim's order to not have anyone witness the fighting that would take place here. Mynrea took offence with the condescending tone that Melfsol always seemed to address her and Leinea with.
"Is this an order from my husband or just you wanting to be rid of second-order beings such as ourselves?" [Mynrea]
"All is as my master com....." [Melfsol]
-Roooaaaarrrrr-
The sound of the greater beast who watched. As the rest of those that followed him here looked down from the mountain that he had perched himself. A being of such immense size, over nine hundred meters in length with a wingspan twice that. The roar of anger that was projected across the countryside filled all with fear.
Lifting its large body pieces, of the mountains on which it lay came tumbling down. Raising his staff and without incantation, Melfsol struck every falling rock with a lightning spell. That obliterated everything that fell towards them.
At this, the beast let out an even greater roar in anger. Melfsol just stood where he was waiting to respond to the next attack. Seething with rage the beast stood on its hind legs spread its wings to full length and again let out a blood-curdling roar.
"We will not survive if that monster comes to fight us here." [Melfsol]
The dread in the group that had come with him was disheartening seventy-six high templars had been gathered for this action and against this opponent, even Melfsol would be nothing but a nuisance.
"What do you mean you are a high order being. How can you be afraid of such a thing?" [Caltyen]
"Yes, I am eleventh order, my lady. However, as I can see the enemy I can not sense him meaning he is a much higher order than myself. It is recorded that certain creatures did not have the restrictive seals placed on them like our ancestors were." [Melfsol]
'Impossible it is possible for a being this strong to be defeated.'
As fear grew to despair, a light breeze blew and what came with that breeze was a second deafening, roar more powerful, than anything they had heard till now.
Confused and seeming intrigued by what it heard, the beast flew towards the noise with all the speed it could muster.
"Everyone our master has prepared the way for use let us not disappoint him." [Melfsol]
Pointing his staff towards the oncoming host Melfsol unleashed a fury of fire that devoured everything in its path.
Frenost Residence
What do you think that was all about? That other roar do you think there was a purebred male who just wanted to play the hero." [Tayrie]
The Five dragons females had been sent back to the residence after the Large Renthial went south towards whatever had provoked it into leaving.
"Well, who it was basically called the beast out for entering its territory but I know no dragon males that have any claims on this continent." [Caltyen]
Southern Louten Mountain Range
The wind blew the smell of ash and iron everywhere as a young demi-human female descended one of the many mountain peaks that lead to the Sougre Valley. Looking at the burnt remains of the Renthial she was pleased with what she found. A wasteland of death and destruction of the entire valley. That at one time only two kilometres wide over thirteen long now stretched to be twenty times the size.
The once blue waters and green trees and grass gave way to a river of blood and ash filled the sky. Immense craters in the earth's entire mountains had been destroyed. Leaving a blasted land where nothing could exist.
Continuing on, she looked for the one who had performed this destruction. She looked for Lanthim Frenost moving quickly around the Renthial corpse this demi-human was well trained in tracking her targets, and she always found her man. Cresting the outer crest of one of the many, craters she found what she was looking for. A dragon equal in size to the Renthial it had killed lay grievously wounded at the bottom of the crater.
"Master, I am coming now hold on."
"Yreni, is that you? I can not see something has happened to my eyes." [Lanthim]
"You should take your partial transformation form. I will be able to treat you more effectively that way." [Yreni]
As she ran closer to Lanthim's massive dragon form. She became aware of the damage that was caused to her master in the battle. His entire right arm was missing, with the left partially severed. The entire neck region had received extensive claw and fang strikes how he was able to speak was a miracle. The massive damage had been taken to his left thigh and side his ribs were exposed and the bleeding was only being controlled by lanthim to maintain a steady flow of mana to the wounds. However, both his personal and Neytriel mana was about to be completely exhausted.
{Melfsol, I Have found him, I need him moved to a large enough meditation chamber to fit him in dragon form, we must hurry there is no time.} [Yreni]
{I understand the preparations are being made now. I will arrive momentarily.} [Melfsol]
{Melfdol one more thing.} [Yreni]
{Yes.} [Melfsol]
{Our master has lost his eyes.} [Yreni]
Having reached the face area broke down in tears as she saw his face. The wound from a single claw had sliced horizontally across Lanthim's face this wound, was very deep taking both of Lanthim's eyes in a single strike.
