Chapter 29 - You'll Play Mine

It wasn't a torrid kiss; just Glenn pressing their mouth together as if Yves was still giving him a mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, even if he no longer needed it.

If Glenn even needed one in the first place.

Yves grappled Glenn's shirt and gave a hard push to his chest, forcing their mouth away. He almost slapped him, but Glenn doubled over to cough out blood. He froze as the bright red substance trickled out of Glenn's mouth.

No, wait. Those were strawberries he had been munching on earlier!

Yves grimaced in disgust as he saw several chunks of the fruit in Glenn's vomit. Did he push too hard on his chest? Cardiopulmonary resuscitation could make drowned victims throw up. Thankfully, Glenn didn't puke while their mouth were still connected.

Sighing, Yves just reached a hand to rub Glenn's back, while the onlookers surrounding them clapped their hands at the young man's successful revival.

Yves studied Glenn intently as the other heaved for breath after retching his last meal mixed with the pool water. It was convincing enough that Glenn nearly drowned, but he had this unexplainable doubt at the back of his mind.

If Glenn was faking it, he's making a fantastic job at it that Yves could nominate him for the best actor award of the year. Though it wouldn't surprise him if he was. Glenn was Richard's son, after all.

Regardless if Glenn faked it or not, it was Yves' fault for tripping him into the pool. He also panicked and didn't check first if Glenn was breathing or if he had pulse before performing CPR. So much for receiving training.

"How are you feeling?" Yves asked, once Glenn's breathing returned to normal and the crowd had dispersed. "I think we should go to the hospital."

"I'm fine. I just feel like shit." Glenn wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, his teeth clattering. "And I'm freezing."

"I'll walk you to your room." Yves grabbed Glenn's arm and hooked it over his shoulder, helping him to his feet. While it wasn't necessary, he put an arm around Glenn's waist just in case he lost his balance.

As soon as they reached the door, Yves let go of Glenn so the other could change inside the room.

"You're not coming in?" Glenn asked when Yves handed him the key card and made no move to follow him inside.

Yves didn't rent a room for himself as it was unnecessary, so he shook his head. His apartment was just one drive away from the hot spring resort. It's just a waste of money. And he had no plans to stay overnight in the same room with the scheming bastard.

Glenn eyed Yves' shivering form and opened the door wider. "I have spare clothes."

Yves would have made an excuse to decline. Even a lame one would suffice. But Glenn had already pulled him inside, cutting off any protest through the slamming of the door.

The room Glenn would be staying at was a typical resort type room with one queen-sized bed surrounded with wooden furniture and thick curtains. Instead of an air-conditioner, it had a heater that could warm them up.

"Strip."

Yves stared at Glenn in dubiety because that just sounded wrong, especially with the two of them standing in front of each other. When alarm bells started ringing in his ears, he turned around to leave the room, but Glenn held onto his wrist, stopping him.

"Do you want to freeze to death?"

"I'm used to the climate of Baguio," Yves gritted out, but the clatter of his teeth made his statement less convincing. He wrenched his arm from Glenn's clutch. "Worry about yourself. You nearly drowned. Or did you really?"

"You're doubting that I drowned?" Glenn gasped in disbelief, turning away. He walked towards the bed to grab two folded towels prepared by the resort's housekeepers and tossed one to Yves. "And here I am feeling grateful that you saved my life."

"I don't need your gratitude."

"Right. Because you're the one who tripped me into the water, so I owe you nothing, I guess."

Yves gripped the towel, but stayed standing next to the door as Glenn rubbed the towel to his wet hair, then to his lean body. He looked away when Glenn reached for the garter of his swimming trunks. "I didn't mean to do that. Sorry. It's just..."

"Just?"

"Why did you do that?"

"Did what?"

"You know what I'm talking about."

"No, I don't." Glenn already had the towel coiled around his waist. He approached Yves again. "What exactly did I do?"

Yves clenched his jaw. "Nothing. Forget what I said."

With the towel in his hands, Yves walked to the bathroom, as his dripping clothes were already making a puddle on the tiled floor. The tremors of his body intensified; not from the cold, but from the anger searing his veins.

"I'm not playing your little game," Yves growled out into the mirror. "You will be playing mine."

Yves dropped the towel so he could undress himself. Since he was already drenched, he'll just take a dip at the hot spring and call Timothy to pick him up later with a change of clothes. For the time being, he had a brat he needed to teach a lesson.

After stripping down to his square-cut underwear that hugged him in the right places, Yves walked out of the bathroom with the towel draped over his shoulders. As cold and self-conscious as he may feel, he knew they're in an appropriate setting to flaunt a little.

Glenn, who was in the middle of gurgling to wash the vomit in his mouth, drank the water instead of spitting it out, resulting in violent coughs that made Yves think he was drowning for real this time.

'So, what's the taste of your own bile?' Yves wanted to ask, but he refrained from speaking his mind. Instead, he marched towards Glenn and rubbed his back in comforting circles. "You okay?"

"Y-Yeah, I'm fine." Glenn cleared his throat, not meeting his eyes. "Clothes?"

"Hmm?"

"I said, you need clothes? I told you I have a spare."

Yves shook his head. "It's okay. I've hung my clothes in the bathroom to dry. You sure you don't want to go to the hospital?"

"... No."

"You sure?"

"... Yeah."

"Okay. I'll just take a dip in their Jacuzzi. I'm already wet anyway. You wanna come along or you'd prefer to stay here and rest?"

Glenn paused, contemplating. After a moment of silence, he nodded. "I'll come along. Let me just put my swimming trunks back again."

Yves hid a smile as Glenn grabbed the article of clothing he put in a chair. The video will be deleted before the day ended. He'll make sure of it.
