Chapter 3 - I am 22 centuries old

Hands, different shapes and sizes pushed out of the earth, rumbling in a painful roar. The monsters couldn't get in but the guardians somehow decided to be on the lookout for this particular night. The barrier was weak. Night at the Queendom smelled of rotting flesh and warm blood, not pleasing to the nose.

Just then the doors to the kingdom rocketed open revealing an old outcast. Sitting on the throne was:

Luna, Goddess of Charm, Queen of Ang-eth-xus—and she was interrupted; she hated being interrupted.

The man stayed on his knees waiting for permission to speak. He was bloody and smelled of sweat. The angels sighed as the white floors were now red and that an old betrayer had entered the kingdom.

He came to report to the Goddess—his life being tied to the throne. If any secrets were now kept his young daughter and pregnant wife would be killed.

The angel, Arveion shifted on his toes, fingers slowly bending around his sword, eyes dilated at the man. There hadn't been much action for him and he was very hungry for some. He looked at the Goddess who simply shook her head.

He scowled, his eyebrows furrowed but he was an angel that never disrespected the throne. He was disappointed but still, he bowed his head and took a step back.

The Goddess got up, her long white dress flowing behind her feet, and lit the room with her golden locks and blue eyes. She had beautiful, soft features that people often misunderstood her for being nice but just because she sat on a throne doesn't mean she couldn't protect herself.

She clapped her hands together causing the man to wither.

"And what do I owe for this amazing visit?" She looked at the man who once again didn't make eye contact, "You know I hate weaknesses, Charles. Look at me when I'm speaking to you. I did permit you. Why did you come to the Kingdom at such a time? Aren't you supposed to be guarding your village? I trust it is important."

Charles looked at the woman ahead of him for some reason instantly feeling drawn to her eyes and wanting to be in her arms. He shook his head at that thought, Arvieon would kill him, leaving him for the demons to feed and then entering hell to put accompanied pain onto him.

He glanced in Arvieons' direction and as he thought he was indeed staring at him with flames in his eyes. Arveions' flames were said to have burned an entire home to dust. His kingdom. One day he would kill Arveion for what he did to his people.

They had history, once were good friends, some may say brothers but Charles took advantage of that situation and tried to rid Arveion of his white wings. He was jealous and wanted the Goddess' side.

He tried but little did he know at that time caused him to stray further away, now being an outcast.

"It's.." Charles gulp, all the angels and goddess were in a meeting at the time. Their conversation was watched but he didn't want to risk his life by asking for privacy.

"It's the girl! She's off of my people's radar." He quickly blurted out and then raised from the floor ready to leave but Arveion reacted in a flash, holding Charles from behind his neck and turning him back around to face the goddess.

"Not yet." He said in a monotone, harsh hiss.

"What do you mean off the radar?" The goddess held her chin with her fingers with her eyes narrowed at Charles.

The guards and angels in the room murmured.

"Off of radar, we're all dead. " One of the drunken angels complained, with a glass bottle still in his hands. It was obvious that he had attended the meeting for the food.

"That's why the shield had been so weak." The murmurs continued one after the other.

"Is that bad? I mean we don't even need her right?."

"No, we don't, I bet she isn't even what's keeping the shield together."

"Everyone shut it! Please." The goddess was fuming. Gold hair rising above her head. And the dress was blowing in the air as if it was being touched by the wind.

"What do you mean off of the radar?" She inspected the frightened man intently, raising his chin so that he could look her in the eyes,"Look at me boy, where is the girl? Your people are supposed to be in charge of watching through the crystal, and it wasn't clear to you for the 100th century!"

The Goddess started pacing, running her fingers through her hair. She shouted, "She, she can't be dead, how can she be dead? Davis was supposed to be watching her, where is that boy?" She murmured to herself, thoughts flashing like bullets in the night.

'But she can't be dead if she's dead then—'

"No,  Arvieon I  know how much you're against Earth but  I will need you to contact Davis, he has not been reporting. Do you think the situations are connected?"

"When I lay my hands on that little—" Coming back to her sensing and also noticing that she was speaking aloud she quickly went back to that of containment.

Arveion quietly growled, he didn't know why Lora would even bother at protecting the girl? Countless angels had died by the demons and she was worried about protecting a child, someone they had no clue of actually existing nonetheless to be able to slay a demon.

Why can't they just leave her? The previous God didn't even speak much about the girl, little did they know that she was no use to them. If she were a witch, how would she be able to lend power?

Why must they go through hell to save her? For all, they knew she was nothing like what the prophecy said she was. Why should he bother to go after her? Still, maybe it was time to actually find out for himself, perhaps kill some demons and check out that delicious food known as burgers in the human world. Davis had been begging him to try it out, as well as something known as beer.

He was only going because of being inquired from the Goddess.

Arveion nodded."I shall but still, I must ask, why her, why the girl? Why waste our angels when we are preparing for war. She has Davis, her guardian already so why my lady, send more of us. Why send me—" Arveion knew that the angels, once out of the shield he'd immediately be attacked, many angels didn't even get past the portal--not that he couldn't but the fact that Lora sent those angels out there with a death wish made him furious. Does that mean she was sending him out now?

"Do you seriously wish me death, I know I am the strong perhaps the strongest but are you risking my life, Lora. I've been by your side and I meant it when I said I will die by your side but am I just any cast away like the others. Just know that I will die for the throne, the old leader, my family name but not for that girl." Arveion looked deeply into the Goddess' eyes, but all he saw was a blue, clear diamond.

No words behind them whatsoever.

"Arveion—" She massaged his brown silky hair between her fingers, "I didn't send those angels out to fight those demons and you thinking that of a sacrifice was very hurtful. You are my best man, you stand by my side through everything and though I know you're confused, I just want you to know that you will not die, you will come back because I am here, where I am here you and all those angels are here. That girl is the war, just know that, okay?"

Arveion was still uncertain but he did know that Lora trusted the girl and was depending on him, "I will now set off to Earth then."

He turned his back and walked outside with the guards opening the gates as he passed and nodding down at him.

It was stupid setting off in night at it was the time of the day that the demons showed their faces the most.

Arveion stood his ground, left leg behind the right and sword gripped tightly in his hands. He was at the last gate and hands could be seen trying to tear through.

These demons were weaker than the others. It will be too much of a child's food. Arveion closed his eyes, listening to the wind and feeling the cold air as it fanned over his entire body, blowing his hair back. He waited for the screeching of the gate and when it could be heard to a halt he opened his eyes just in time to slash the demon in half that was running over to him.

He had to kill off the ones in front first to leave or else they would enter Angethxus.

There were about eight demons known as the night feeders—being short with hands longer than their bodies with glowing eyes, horns, and a tail. These demons came out for the first feed, appearing earlier than the other monsters of the night.

They flew at him all at once but Aveion had the eyes of an eagle, he changed direction on his feet and when one of the demons swung its longhand at him he sliced it clean off.

He sighed, they were no fun whatsoever.

Arveion thrust his sword, getting another in its head and then pulling it close to his chest just in time as gue was spat. The demon screamed out, its flesh roasting, and its corpse fell to the floor.

The next attack to which he swung his mighty sword so effortly like painting a canvas, Arvieon then kicked the first creature forward causing it to trip and then stabbing it in its stomach.

He twisted the sword in the creature, watching how it begged and shrieked.

Distracted Arveion missed when a demon ran up to him, grabbing his cloak but still managed to elbow the creature and then turn entirely to finish it. He sliced the demon's neck like butter with his glowing sword not breaking a sweat and then cleaned his sword of its blood.

Arvain ran out onto the wall and pushed off gaining flight with his vast white wings.

He caught a sprinter by his neck in the time it ran through and smacked it into the gate just as it closed, trapping its lower body and tearing it into pieces, painting the gate in blue blood.

Arveion flew off watching as the demons tried to get him from below, he cut off some of their hands in the process and then flew through the shield.

Davis somehow felt weak as he was in the human world enjoying a place called the bar.

As he started going on Earth to protect the girl he met this small crowded place called 'California's bar'. It was small and consisted of some malicious people but when he was offered a drink called 'a beer' he fell in love with it. He felt like he was floating and could run even faster, he loved the tingling feeling.

"Seriously man, what do you put in this weird yellow fluid of yours. I gotta carry some of this back for Arveion at the kingdom." He sat on a barstool leaning over the table, talking closely in the bartender's face. Breath stinking of alcohol.

"You're one weird dude, huh? How many times have I told you it's just a drink made of sugar like all the others and you seriously gotta stop talking like that? You're scaring away the customers."

The man had blonde shoulder-length wavy hair with blonde highlights, a sharp face, and defined facial features but even though his handsome looks brought him a lot of the women's attention, his personality couldn't help but scare them away. His lips were almost red and the eye bags underneath his eyes somehow didn't take away his beauty. Women would walk up to him and ask for his number but he sent all of them away running, he once told one that he was 22 centuries old when she asked for his age.

Davis had recently scared off a teenage girl asking her if the tattoo she had was demon markings and even attacked her with his glass mug. However the usual customers liked him, they thought he was crazy but still enjoyed his jokes—what they thought were jokes.

"Hey Davis, how much of that did you drink?" Merlina poked him on his back as he vomited in the glass. Her face screwed up, "Not cool man, why the glass? The glass." She facepalm.

He turned to her, a drop of vomited beer to the side of his mouth."Ah, Merlina is that you. You look so—" He reached out his hand searching for her face. "You look so different, did you do something with that obnoxious excuse for what you call hair. What's it called again, bullet?"

"It's a mullet and what's wrong with it—wait you said you loved it," She turned to the bartender who was pretending not to listen."Tom! What's wrong with my mullet?!"

Tom smiled, avoiding eye contact," Nothing, it's great, doesn't it not look ugly on her at all, Davis?" Tom passed Merlina's piercing gaze back to Davis, smiling with his youthful features as he cleaned a glass.

Davis placed a drunk hand on her shoulder, "It doesn't...does look ugly on you, a-at-all—"He smiled but slowly his smile fell. Before he could finish his eyes widened and his body froze, falling onto Merlina's lap. His body went dead but his eyes stayed open.

"Davis, what the fuck! Get off! " Merlin scrambled, continuously beating her hands on his back, "Seriously if you like me, all you had to do was say it. I mean we haven't known each other for that long but I find you kinda—"

His body suddenly grew heavy and hot against her thighs. "Argh! Tom, my legs they're burning up. Does he have a fever or something, seriously how much did he drink?!"

She trembled, feeling as though there was a torch pressed against her bare skin. Sweat trickled down her forehead and she screamed, feeling like her legs were being crushed. Tom rushed over, finally deciding that she was being legit.

"What the heck? I can't lift him." Davis was a built guy having a muscular body but still, he shouldn't be that heavy.

A strong wind slammed the glass doors open and the glass windows screeched.

"Is there a storm or something?"Tom looked outside, shocked, seeing signs and papers blow into the air and umbrellas from the sun fly away. He stretched his beard, "The weather report said there was sun all day today—"

"Tom, my legs can't take his weight anymore!" Merlina clenched onto the table and bit into her lips causing her teeth to pierce through and bleed.

Passers-by screamed feeling as though they couldn't walk with how deadly strong the wind was.

A woman flew over from the sidewalk and got slammed into a car, the driver stopped and rushed outside to assist her, blocking off the passway of the other cars causing a massive traffic jam. Cars behind honked their horns and some came out to curse.

Merlina flinched as the bar sign fell and crashed into the concrete floor outside, exploding into glass shards and cracking the store window.  Papers blocked the outside and the sign had caused the exit to be blocked.

Watching the window as the cracks spread, Tom grue eager and tried shaking Davis, his eyes still focused on the cracking glass as it broke faster.

"Shit! Davis...Merlina…" When he finally looked back at his friends he saw that both were unconscious. Merlina had fallen unconscious from the excruciating pain she was feeling in her legs.

"Merlina? Merlina wakeup! Davis, come on man—" But none of them could hear him.

The glass was getting worse at the minute and there was absolutely no way of escaping and risking being slammed across the road if it was an actual Tornado.

Tom rushed to the glass where he tried his best to stack up chairs and any sort of equipment that could be used to at least lessen the force so it won't reach the others.

He saw what it did to that woman and if it can move an actual person then it had to be severe....deadly.

Tom tried his best to gather all the chairs but just then a loud thud was heard from outside the glass, it was a stone and the entire thing came shooting out. The strong breeze blew it into the store, coming inside as rockets and exploding.

The glass shut forward into the store by the force of the breeze.

Tom managed to slide under a table but wailed when a glass shard entered his shin.

Davis shut out like a sore thumb and immediately reacted in utter speed. His wings shot from beneath his skin tearing away his white V-neck shirt for the exit just by how muscular and potent it was. The ability of the wings is what angles depend on the most, without their wings, they were still worthy of using combat swordsman skills but the wings consisted of a certain power that made them fearless and to the demons fearful.

His wings curved inward and he held Merlina against his chest protecting her from being endangered by the shards.

His wings somehow radiated pain but he didn't let it distract him. He lifted her into his arms and carried her to the back.

Usually, his wings would be sharp and hard as steel but today he felt every piercing glass. They were numb and bleeding from an attack weak as that, an attack that would have usually been like cushions against him.

Davis kicked a table out of his way and then lifting the table Tom was under he used it as a shield to drag him back.

Davis watched the two on the floor. He felt a terrible pull in his gut and hated that he got distracted from his mission not only hurting the friends he met at the bar but also that girl who he was supposed to be protecting.

He had to get to her before they did. He could feel his blood running hot and his limbs go weak, he was losing power. His wings were also bleeding which means the girl was separated from him. Either dead or in trouble.

Merlina breathed out his name and reached out her hand towards him, eyes half-open. He knew he had to go before they woke up.

"Recording live—" the news came on, "It was seen today that a strong wind out of nowhere killed about 100 people and left about 645 injured for the ones outside at the time. News reporters are asking questions previously about the sudden change in weather's events."

Davis took off the tv, his jaw ticked and his eyes bulged.

Earlier Davis' body had felt weak which meant one thing.

His green eyes darkened and he clenched his fist as he flew through the air.

His blood was pounding harder than usual and his wings were numb.

Something was aching in his chest and though he was flying through the sky sweat still fell down his forehead.

That meant one thing.
