Usually flying would bring him joy as he saw the Earth from above and the breeze would blow through his hair but today it was different. It was time, his time and during this time he knew what was coming next.
Because his wings were so weak it was going to take longer to arrive. He just hoped he wouldn't be too late—that he would make his people proud, the Goddess, his brother Arveion.
After minutes of flying and searching he had arrived, but when the sun was already going down.
"Shit…" Was he too late, he flew down onto the roof. Her lights were always on. It looked like no one was home. Should he just enter?
Davis dropped down to the floor feeling his blood go cold in his toes.
He knocked on the door but as of no reply, he quietly opened the door. Was she sleeping? But then why was the door open? She never leaves her door open.
Davis was greeted by a dark room. He stepped inside and closed the door behind but when he looked at the dark grey and glowy eyes at the front of him, his face hardened. He exhaled, biting into his cheeks and crossing his arms over his chest, he smirked.
"Took you long enough. Here I was thinking you weren't going to show up. Was my introduction too much? Gotta go big or go home right and honestly, I've grown quite bored down there. Humans are much more fun, being so easy to mess with. It brings such joy as they scramble around and scream before they die. You look—" He leaned forward on the table, "Alive."
Davis leaned against the wall, "Yes alive and well, thank you. Wish I could say the same for you,Death. Has your mother ever told you about breaking and entering?"
"Actually yes she did, that's why I killed her." He chuckled, devilishly exposing his sharp white canines.
Davis shifted on his feet.
But Death saw how uneasy he was and laughed, "Grow some slacks man, I'm messing with you. That's not the reason I killed her. You know It's so wonderful that you decided to join my tea party. Been a while, huh? What are you waiting for for...sit!" He said harshly pulling out a chair with just his two fingers.
Davis pondered in his head while watching the reaper.
But he uncrossed his arms and sat anyway. However, he wasn't looking for a conversation.
"Why are you here, Death? Why are you wreaking havoc on Earth? It is not a place for you."
"Oh really, I feel so special."Death laughed but he stopped seeing that Davis wasn't laughing with him, "You're serious?"
"I very much am. You cost honorable people their lives, scared them into thinking it was a storm because of what exactly, tell me, I wish to know."
"I mean I thought it was clear, you have something I want and I am only here to claim it. We are bound Davis, you may not understand. The fact that you hid it from me is oh so bad."
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"We could have been partners man, I mean you could have got to join me."Death shrugs and then narrows his eyes at Davis, "Wait I don't see the energy, the excitement, let me say that again…you could have got to join...Me! The devious, sexy, and known by everyone...me, death itself."
Death clapped his hand but the energy from Davis was still least expected. I mean who wouldn't want to be on his side, kissing his shoe and worshipping him.
He was the angel of death, people loved him.
"I'm not quite digging your attitude man, what got you so cold?"
"Enough! I will never join you, what makes you think I would want to join the man responsible for all those deaths, what you did to my family, my people. I will never bow down and kiss your bloody shoes."
"Ouch, suit yourself, man. No force. It's all a choice."
Davis was clenching his fist under the table at Death's obnoxious behavior, "We are not having a conversation right now Death and I will not sit here and condone it either. Like I asked earlier, why are you here? "
"I have come to claim what is mine like I told you before."
"And what might that be?" Davis pretended not to know.
"I want the girl, Davis and I know you're protecting her." Death smirked, cracking his fingers slowly, one by one.
"You're not going to touch her." Davis alert from the chair, "I'm sorry but I will not allow you to lay a finger on that girl!" Davis drew his sword and directed it at Death.
Death sighed, and moving his leg from over the other he stayed on the seat for a while but then got up after, "No I'm sorry, you know I was getting to like you, though we could have a great relationship you're standing in my way now and I'll inform you that I will be exterminating everything, living or not standing in my way. And here you are right now. What shall I do to you?" Death chuckled, whispering and counting on his fingers, all the possibilities.
"Whatever you're planning, I'll tell you now you're not going to reach it!" Davis strengthened his hold on the sword and this time put the pointy blade at arms right to Death, right between his nose. "It's been a long time death, is it wrong that I wanted you to return just to kill you and put you down for real this time myself."
Death pushed his black cloak over his shoulder slightly and revealed his leather pants and long sleeve white tee. He pulled his sword from its sheath making a screech as it was slowly drawn.
"Oh really?" Death teased, rolling up his white sleeve."You want me that bad huh?" He winked right before at lightning speed, clashing his sword right into Davis'.
"I have a date in a couple of minutes so sorry if I end this quite short." Death cracked his neck side to side and smirked at Davis.
The two withdrew their swords and then jab them forward against each other again.
The swords scraped together and they both circled each other.
"You better not hold back, give me everything you got." Davis snarled and then removed his sword from Death's, taking a step back and dragging his feet behind the other, getting ready to lunge.
"Wait!" Death said and held his palm up, "Don't you think it'll be a little boring, I gotta get my jam on...cue the epic battle intense villain music." Death smiled and with a flick of his wrist, music blasted from a radio.
Davis' face was scrunched with anger and he rolled his eyes at Death's childish behavior. "I guess whatever makes you a better fighter for me."
Davis lunged and slashed his sword downwards into Death's, but Death wasn't startled instead his face went serious, and gave Davis a devilish smirk before pushing him backward with his sword.
"Cute...but I'll need more energy."
Davis ran up to Death and had him thinking he was going for an upper slash but instead he aimed at his thigh, giving him a small cut.
Davis didn't slow to catch a breath and immediately went for another hit, his blade was pointing towards Death but Death sidestepped, the blade reaching only a second after his face cutting off a curl.
Death laughed and before Davis could go for another attack, he side kicked him to his waist causing him to almost lose balance but luckily Davis steadied his breathing and regained his focus.
Death and Davis continued their sparring, none of them breaking a sweat. Death spun on his feet dodging Davis' attack.
"I can do this all day, it's like an intense dance but instead with your dance partner trying to kill you."
Though Death was dodging all his attacks, Davis did not give up.
Davis jerked to his right escaping the Death's thrust and then jammed his sword into him.
The quick blow had opened Death up for another attack and Davis compelled him.
Quickly before Death could catch a breath, he semicircled his sword away, the object flying and collided with the floor— and while it layed on the ground he pulled his over his head and plunged it downwards at Death.
But what caught him off guard was when Death caught his sword in his bare hands.
Death squeezed the sword in his palm and returned the force at Davis. Davis' eyes widened, he had never seen such strength.
And that dark black stare Death was giving him made his skin crawl. His mouth stayed open in shock, he could feel Death's strength slowly overpowering his.
Death's hand was bleeding, dark red blood dripping on the floor but Davis didn't see any fear in the man's eyes nor did he see pain, all the while Death was holding him firmly in his gaze.
That scared him and he knew that right then and there that he had lost.
Davis pushed harder cringing as the sword cut deeper and widened the gushing hole in Death's hand.
Death used his other hand gaining even more power and kicked Davis in his stomach, knocking the air out of his body and stunning him for a moment enough to get his sword and stab him in his waist.
Davis groaned, his eyes widened as he held his waist. He looked up at his hand that was now covered in blood. His blood. It wasn't supposed to be his blood.
He stepped back, his knees going weak and when he stumbled back Death stalked him like a predator.
Davis fell on his back and looked up at the shadowy face who was now smirking down on him.
"I must admit, that was a good fight." Death kneels, looking at Davis who was bleeding out.
Life was slowly being sucked out of his body but yet he was still reaching his hand out to get Death. "It's not...over y-yet." He coughed, blood slattering from his lips.
Death passed his tongue along with the sword and licked the blood. "Yeah?" He asked and rested the now blood-free sword on top of Davis.
Davis closed his eyes and looked at his sword feeling the weight on top of him. "I died by my sword." He said in-breaths and Death nodded before going on his toes, turning his back to the angel.
"And you'll die with your sword."
"Next time I'll be looking for a better fight from you, Davis."
