Noir was the first one to detect the smell. He wrinkled his nose and nudged Solis, who was still sleeping.
Solis opened his eyes slowly. "What's wrong?" he asked in hoarse voice. "Are you feeling ill?"
Noir shook his head and tapped his nose. "Do you smell something strange?" he asked.
Solis sniffed delicately. He frowned. "I do, actually, but I'm not sure what it is…" he murmured.
"I think it's from the kitchen," Noir said. "I'll go and see. Maybe one of these guys got hungry and tried to heat up some food and messed up instead. It's not easy to use all the gadgets unless someone shows you how to use them the first time…"
Solis sat up. "All right," he murmured sleepily. "I'll go with you."
Noir chuckled and poked Solis's cheek. "You can get some more sleep," he said.
"I can't sleep without you," Solis replied immediately.
Noir blushed furiously, and Solis grinned cheekily at him.
