"Alright, I got it. Let's continue on." Yi tan did not wish to sit around for too long. He had only just begun his journey and had already run into a tough monster. He wondered if that one was ever human or not. Sadly he did not know much about the outside world, only the little that he learned in school while learning to read and write.
Yi Tan decided it would be best to just keep going forward for now and save the sightseeing for the return trip home. His current task was to go to an ancient town and bring back any useful information on what may have happened there. According to the map, the town was once called Sky Haven. It had a population of over fifteen thousand. He was unsure if this was considered big or not for a town, but to him, it sounded like a lot of people.
What puzzled Yi Tan was why he was being sent there. On the map, it was marked as an unexplored town. Out of all the areas around it, only that one was marked as unexplored. With so little information to go on, he guessed he would just have to wait and see with his own eyes why this place was not explored yet.
"Tan left!" Sei yelled out in his mind.
Once again, Yi tan was engaged in another battle. This time was much easier as the monster seemed to be very slow. It only took a few dodges and a lightning smash to kill it and capture its soul. His current soul stock was now two.
By the time the sun was setting, Yi Tan had killed seven monsters in total. "Sei, do you see any place I can use as a temporary shelter?"
"Not yet. It's hard to see with all the trees. You may need to just climb a tree. But that won't be very safe, and you would end up losing sleep. Maybe we should have made a program that lets you build a house anywhere you wished..." Sei replied. She was still scanning the area but was not finding a useful hiding place.
"We will look into that next time. For now, let's just concentrate on the task at hand." Yi Tan felt Sei's idea was good, but it would require thorough planning.
"Tan up ahead! A hollowed-out tree with a small entrance. It looks like you can fit in there. Although it may be a tight fit." Sei was able to detect the area around them for at least a hundred meters, acting as a sort of radar for Yi Tan.
Yi Tan arrived at the tree, which was about three times the size of him around and ten times his height. The hole to get inside was not very big and looked to be just barely enough room for him to squeeze through. Yi Tan took a big stick and poked around the inside of the hole. A few glowing spiders came running out but nothing that Yi Tan felt he needed to worry about. To be on the safe side, she shot a chained lighting inside, making sure anything that might hurt him was good and dead.
He got on his hands and knees and wiggled his way inside. Luckily the entrance was the only thing that was really small about the place. The inner part of the trunk was actually quite spacious. Plenty of room for just him. Once he inspected it and made sure nothing else was inside, he crawled back out to find something to block the hole with so he could feel a bit safer and block his scent from getting into the air.
Only after he found a rock that barely passed through the entrance did he crawl back inside and plug up the hole with said rock. Afterward, he sat down and closed his eyes, entering his mind. "Sei, I'm here."
"Don't worry about not sleeping. I will keep an eye on your surroundings. I always do, after all. Come sit. Let me explain how this works." Sei said as she patted the grass next to her.
Yi Tan did as he was told and sat down. Sei then waved her hand, causing the soul lantern that was inside him to appear in her hand. She then got up and sat right in Yi Tan's lap and leaned against him. "Sei?" Yi Tan was confused as to why Sei was sitting in his lap all of a sudden.
"I am part of the soul lantern and part of you. I will be the medium that is used to help you refine the captured souls. It's just that… Well, you will see… " Sei blushed from ear to ear as she got comfortable and pulled out a soul from the lantern and held it in her hand. "Clasp your hands over mine."
Yi Tan nodded and did as he was told. His hands were much bigger than Sei's, who was matching her body size to his. "Okay, close your eyes and do not open them no matter what you hear because this will be a little embarrassing for me… I will now begin infusing your body with the first soul when you are ready."
Yi Tan closed his eyes and said. "Ready..."
A bright ghostly magic circle formed under the two of them as the souls in Sei's and Yi tan's hands began to also glow. Streams of ghostly chains shout out of Sei, causing a moan to escape her lips. The ghostly chains latched onto the soul and before they began to retract back into Sei. The entire time Sei was fidgeting and biting her lips.
As the soul entered her body, she let out a gasp as her body began to glow brightly before the light gathered within her body and flowed down her arms and into Yi Tan's hands and then throughout his entire body.
Yi Tan's entire body felt hot, and a sharp pain began to spread out. He let out a grunt in pain as beads of sweat formed on his forehead. His real body began to produce black liquid from his pores. If he were awake right now he would be holding his nose due to the stench.
Sei took a deep breath as she began to explain what was going on so Yi Tan did not panic. "Your first soul was a body type. It is strengthening your body and cleasign it. It will feel painful but bare with it. The results after words will be well worth it."
