"Next!" The old man yelled while looking at Yi Tan.
Yi Tan took a deep breath and walked towards the door. When he entered, he found himself in a well lit room that had medical equipment laid out. A woman in a lab coat nodded at Yi Tan before saying: "Strip. I need to do a physical before you can go in."
Yi Tan frowned when he heard this. Not because he had to be naked but because of the large slice across his stomach. Yi Tan began to undress. For someone so young, his physic was actually really good. The woman watched as he fully stripped. Yi Tan felt a little uncomfortable from being stared at so intently. But when he heard a gasp, he knew the woman already saw the wound on his stomach. She walked right up to him and grabbed him by the shoulders. "Who did this to you?"
"I don't know. I woke up like this yesterday morning." Yi Tan left it at that. The woman looked at Yi Tan's face closely as if searching for something but soon let out a sigh.
The woman looked down at the wound and frowned. Only then did she let go of Yi Tan and grab a pair of gloves, not asking any more about it. After the gloves were on, she got a needle out that was filled with a clear fluid. She then turned to Yi Tan and began to explain what was in the syringe. "This has a tracking device in it. It is a DNA based tracking device that will allow us to keep an eye on your vitals and your location at any time. Unlike nanobot tracking devices, this one can not be removed since it merges with your DNA during the awakening ceremony."
She walked over and grabbed Yi Tan's arm, and stuck the needle in him. She then put the syringe down and began doing a full check up. When she was done, and entered all the information on the tablet next to her. She gave Yi Tan another glance before saying in a joking manner. "If you are able to make it through the awakening, you will definitely make a girl very happy later on. Go ahead and put the gown on." As she said this, her eyes fell on his crotch.
Yi Tan frowned and quickly put on the hospital gown. "Am I free to go now?"
"Mmm… Go ahead." The woman gave a cheeky smile. Yi Tan just walked straight to the chamber. Although the woman was beautiful, he did not find her attractive in the slightest. Instead, he could only think of her as an old perverted woman.
Yi Tan stood in the chamber and looked around. It was nothing more than a metal room with nothing but a floor, walls, and a ceiling with some vents. Besides that, there were two shutters which were both tightly sealed at this time. "You're a calm one..." A voice filled the room. Yi Tan ignored it and waited for the awakening process to start. "Humph! Let's see how calm you can stay when you begin turning into a monster." The voice huffed.
Yi Tan felt like ever since it was his turn that he had been frowning the entire time. He wanted to know if the people here just had to make jabs at him left and right. Seconds later, Yi Tan heard the sound of the vents above slowly opening and a few fans turning on at the same time. He stood there waiting for whatever was to come, to come.
"It's starting!" An excited voice went off in his head. Yi tan closed his eyes, and the image of a naked woman appeared in his mind.
"So the magic molecules are working?" Yi Tan asked.
"Yep!" Sei stood proudly with her hands on her hips, her legs spread apart while lifting her nose in the air proudly.
"Are you sure you are not just using this time to expose your crotch to me with the way you are floating there?" Yi Tan asked.
"Humph! If you didn't want to see, you wouldn't look. Like I have said since I first met you, it's not like I can put clothes on! Plus, until the day you die, we are stuck together. The soul lantern is already fused to you, which means I am fused to you. So just get used to it and take it as a perk. It's not like you are losing out by seeing a beautiful girl like me naked, right?" Sei replied.
Yi Tan was quiet for a moment and looked at the naked soul before nodding his head. "As long as I am not crazy, having a beautiful naked soul floating around my head is not bad."
"See! Now then, let me explain what is going on." Sei floated around Yi Tan before continuing. "The soul lantern will use the magic molecules in the air to regain its functioning. Once it does, you will end up with what is called the Soul Capture System."
"Wait! Before you go into more detail, explain to me why you are part of this so called soul lantern." Yi tan interrupted Sei.
"This… I am not sure I was fused with it, and the only thing I know is how it works, anyway, back to what I was saying. The soul capture system allows you to capture souls and refine them. This refining based on the type of soul it is will allow you to either refine your body, mind, soul, and even, in this case, your abilities may be strengthened. Think of it as taking part of the strength of the soul you refine as your own. Once you have absorbed enough souls, you'll eventually break the binds of your mortal body. Now I must warn you that souls vary from living being to living being. Some beings may be as tall as the buildings in this city but only have a silver of a soul compared to one of those little girlfriends you have there. These small souls will not do much for you except bring you one step closer to the next evolution. As for what souls will strengthen what on your body, that is all random. There is no definitive way to really know until after the soul has been absorbed." Sei explained.
"I see, so by evolve, what does this mean?" Yi tan asked. He understood everything except this part.
"As you slowly refine souls, you will gain a steady amount of soul energy in your body. This energy, once your body has reached its max amount, will allow you to shed your mortal skin. But don't get too excited because this process will take a long time. Just to go from mortal to transcender would probably take five years." Sei made sure to emphasize the last part. She wanted Yi Tan to know that if he wished to really improve himself, it would take a lot of dedication and patience.
"I understand." Yi Tan was indeed a little excited. But he did not show it on the surface, after all, he was on his way to becoming very powerful, and from what Sei was saying, he would be able to grow very strong in the future.
"Hey, brat, you should open your eyes and see what's going on the outside. You have been in the chamber for almost two hours now. In about two minutes, the soul lantern will be fully charged, and your true awakening will begin. Oh, and don't worry about becoming a monster. The soul lantern won't let you become one." Sei disappeared after saying this words and Yi Tan slowly opened his eyes. As he did, a bluish neo glow filled the room and the meters inside the room also began reading off the charts.
