"Do you need to go back?",Dan asked after they had finished eating.
"It'll be fine if I go back sometimes around today. I'm responsible for the lives in Tirana, they depend on me.If I leave them alone for too long, it means I'm defying my duty. There's not much trouble there right now. If there's a danger,I would sense it. Then there would be an emergence for me to be there.",she only wanted to say a part of it but ended up saying everything.
"How's your leg now?",he asked again.
"It's fine now as you can see ,I can walk.",she replied.
"Great. Let me show you around the village and then I'll go with you to Tirana."
"You don't need to escort to Tirana.",she thought it was not necessary for him to come.
"I'm a fisherman remember? The river doesn't have fishes and I don't have anything better to do anyway." He took her hand and said," I'll go with you."
She drew her hand back almost immediately.
"Let's go. You said you would show me the village.",she said and proceeded to leave the house when Dan had stopped her. He realized Kanibora was still in her usual from in which, the villagers hadn't seen her.
"Wait, aren't you going to change back to Kani?", He asked.
"Kani? Oh! The man! Right," she was so flustered that she had completely forgotten about changing her form. She thanked her fate that Dan reminded her otherwise the villagers would freak out.
They went out. It was a temperate morning. The sunlight was warm. People were busy. It was early in morning but they were already working hard. There market was not far from here and they could see it from infront of the house. People were gathering there to sell or buy things.Women were going for farming. Some were sitting infront of their houses. Some were giving their children lessons. The scenery felt warm to Kani.At this time her eyes went to Aya. It was calm today. The water was still clear but a little blue-ish.It suddenly reminded her of something.
"Dan, I need to check something. Can you come with me for a quick moment?",she asked and without waiting for his reply, started to walk towards Aya. But Dan interfered.
"You can't possibly be going there again after what happened." He said.
"Just for a moment.I promise I'll be quick." She replied.
She went to the river and soaked her hand in the water. There was nothing happening, just as she had thought. Then she held out a section of water. The blue-ish shade was not a reflection of the light. The water really was blue. She created a spell and the water broke down. What was left was some glowing bits of blue mana.
"What's that?",Dan asked.
"It's probably from that thing. Some manas are left in the river after it used its power."
"And what's mana?", He gave Kani a confused look.He was just getting used to being with a goddess and he couldn't take more of it.
Kanibora looked at him and once again realized that he was just a human, unlettered in terms of magic.
" Mana is something that comes off once a being that's different from the category of gods, such as humans or wizards, use magic."she replied.
"So,is that bad?.",He asked again.
"Only the mana created from evil possessions are bad. In this case, it is. And if that thing continues to use its magic in there, Aya soon will become toxic for anyone to even go near it.",she replied patiently.
"Sounds pretty bad."He replied while he came and held her hand.
"Let's go somewhere else.",he said.
They started walking in the opposite direction from where it led to Tirana. After yesterday's ruckus, to most of the people she, meaning Kani, was a familiar figure. After walking for a while, they reached the end of Tahaku.
"We've reached the end. Where are you going?",she asked.
"To the temple.It's near."
"You're taking me to the temple?", She felt a bit offended.
"Yes. I brought you here casually .Thought you might know the god we worship."
"But it didn't occur to you that it might be offensive to me?"
"Huh? OH! OH MY! I'm SO SORRY. It occured to me just now! I wasn't thinking straight. I'm sorry. Don't kill me. You-you won't turn me into ashes, right?,"Dan was so flustered that he started to stammer. He didn't think this through. Of course, seeing people worship others might be strange to her.
"Calm down. It felt weird but it's okay. And no, I won't kill you for something so trivial.",she assured him.
They had reached the temple. It was a temple made of soil and clay. And there was painting and curving on the wall of the temple. The painting were drawn in a line. It was like a story. There were pictures of people farming, there was a picture of an empty field ,then there were people worshiping. And again there was a field full of crops.
"No way", kanibora thought. "Is it who I think it is? "
They went inside. There was a statue of a god holding a spear. He had curly hair. The statue was made by unskilled hands but it didn't take her any moment to figure out who it was.
"Daritas," said Dan,"He's the one we worship."
"Oh.",she replied shortly.
"He's the one who saved our land."
"From drought?"
"Yes. My mother told me that during the time of her great great grand father, there was a drought, one of the driest season during that time. It hadn't rained for a month. People were dying constantly of hunger. There was a havoc coming. But then a man appeared out of nowhere. After he came, it rained for days. The lands were fertilized. Crops that were harvested that year could feed the villagers for much more years. It was a golden time. But the man only left his name before he vanished, Daritas. Our ancestors didn't know if he was a man or a wizard, but he was our god. We still worship him.",he briefed her about the history of the temple.
" I was wondering who you worshiped. Turned out it was him.",she said.
"So, he's really a god?",Dan asked. He always wondered weather the person, his people had worshiped, was really a powerful being or not.But it didn't matter that much to him as he was always grateful.
"Yes,he is. In fact, he was a demi god like me. But he acquired more power and faster than any other demi god. Now he's one of the most powerful gods there is.", She replied.
"Have you met him?",he asked again.
"I have." She stopped for a moment,
"He's my father."
