Chapter 24 - Shopping

"Master?"

The man stood there apathetic, Ryan didn't know if he was, confused or just not interested.

"I am Lawhey, at your service", the man said bowing his head.

"You know, you're supposed to be my master right, you shouldn't be bowing.", Ryan said to Lawhey.

Ryan looked at Lawhey in an expensive but outdated shirt and a trousers that ended around his shin. He knew no one would believe, he was his master. He then ask Lawhey, where they could buy clothes and Lawhey lead the way.

They entered an alley and headed down a narrow path. Lawhey was fast, Ryan had to put in a effort to keep up. It was like a maze, which Lawhey knew a way through. Finally they got out, in front was a building the size of three phone booths and a sign that said Fose. Inside were clothes everywhere, hanged, folded, piled and some were just on the floor. Ryan walked carefully, making sure he did not step on the clothes.

Until he saw Lawhey trampled on the clothes, then he did same. Inside was a woman sitting on a stool, behind a pile of the clothes. Lawhey started picking up clothes, the woman just sat there looking at him. He wore any thing he picked up over his clothes. Ryan dipped his hand into his pocket and looked at the money Helton gave him.

He decided he will only buy for Lawhey if they couldn't afford it. After a while, Lawhey asked

"How much?"

" It's 10 dark.", the woman replied.

Ryan had only 200 red, he took the money and spreaded it across both hands.

"Is this enough?", Ryan said serving Lawhey.

Lawhey took 5 red and gave it to the woman, the woman stared at the money a mumbled something. She took the clothes, placed some on a shirt and tied it and did same to the rest of the clothes.

"You cheated her, you gave her 5 red, instead of 10 Darken.", Ryan said walking as fast as possible.

"I didn't cheat her, a red is twice a darken, she looked upset because, Grow made the currencies paper. Most people don't not value it, besides the clothes should have been cheaper but what I picked were " selections".

"isn't she selling to make profit?", Ryan asked carrying one of the tied heap.

"ooh, she dose, the clothes are stripped off the dead and it's been sold to the poor.", Lawhey explained.
