The Yuan household was oddly silent that night. The women, who had exhausted themselves dancing to songs they'd never heard before, and eaten delicacies they'd never seen before, were passed out on their respective beds. Yuan Heng, and his father, Yuan Peng, were sitting silently at the dining table. And lastly, Bohai was nowhere to be seen.
The father-son pair had left the latter at the Long estate, letting him catch up with his old acquaintance. Alongside Long Guangli, they both had heard something that they shouldn't have. While Yuan Heng was less knowledgable on the topic, he knew enough to realize the danger he was in by just learning of his friend's background. He didn't dare to think of the danger his family and he would be in if it was discovered that they had saved him, a person who was believed to be dead.
"What do we do?" Yuan Heng nervously asked his father. His conflicting feelings for his friend, who was raised alongside him like a brother, and his family, was making him confused on what to do. And that feeling was scaring the thirteen year old.
"What do you mean what do we do?" His father replied harshly. "I raised Bohai just like any of my other children, I consider him my son. There is nothing that we can do. He will decide on what he needs to do next."
As he said that, Bohai walked through the broken front door. The moonlight illuminated him, showing a side of the sixteen year old boy that the Yuan family had never seen. His eyes were puffy and red, showing that he had cried. His eyes weren't lifeless, as they usually were, and he fell to his knees upon seeing the serious atmosphere in the house.
"I'm sorry," He cried.
Immediately, the father-son duo rushed from their chairs to embrace Bohai. In the moonlight, the three painted a beautiful yet melancholy picture.
While they hugged, a simple thought was shared between the trio. Which made both father and son teary-eyed as well. They all knew this would be the last time that they would see each other for years, possibly ever.
Minutes that seemed like hours passed while the trio remained unmoving. They seemed to have no idea on how to separate from one another, until a sobbing Zhilan entered their presence. Holding a small bag that held all of his belongings, she also hugged him.
To make his foster family less worried, he explained to them a simple version of his plans: He would go with Tan Huizhong, his grandfather's friend and a person he could trust, and train. He was going to become stronger, and return back to this farm so he could protect the Yuan family.
No matter how many times they asked him where he was going, he never answered. It was dangerous for them to know where he was, so he intentionally ignored all their requests and left with a promise to stay safe, and a heartfelt goodbye.
