Chapter 368 - Mayhem

Hitirus stepped through the streets of his destination. Skin black like wet rocks, and eyes as loving and innocent as a Yonie.

While he marched, Variants stopped to watch. They had never seen such a weird hybrid, especially in Coshire. Some grew worried, thinking Hitirus was a Servant.

A Feral bit his lower lip, then moved in to interact with the foreigner. He examined Hitirus' frantic head movements, almost afraid of something.

He couldn't figure out why someone would walk in and act this way. There was the smell of freshly baked goods floating in the sky, with the careless laughter of troopers tackling each other.

"Uh... e - excuse me, sir. But are you lost?" the Feral asked.

"M - me..?" Hitirus glanced at the Feral's orange scarf, then did a double-take to confirm it was a Feral. "Ah! Stay away, Feral! Stay away, Feral!"

The Feral stopped, feeling a little ashamed for being called out like that. Yet he didn't take too kindly to being ordered around, especially for being nice.

He approached Hitirus again, only to feel a murderous kick to his chest. His body slammed on the road, shattering stone.

"I said, stay away..." Hitirus growled, this time in his own voice. He looked around, realizing guards were steadily approaching to cease the issue. "all right, then. Scaler, Molten Thawed."

Scaler legs replaced his own pair, followed by claws on his hands. His skin became denser, matching the full armor of a Molten Thawed.

Guards drew their weapons upon seeing the flowing magma that coursed through openings on Hitirus' chest, wrists, and palms.

They felt uneasy, almost wanting to leave instead of challenging such a strange creature. Yet they had to stand and hold.

"What's up? Are you going to surround me and not do a thing or what?" Hitirus opened his arms, taunting the group. "Well? Come here, fuckers!"

Four guards charged at him, going for injuring strikes. The first one rose their shield at the hybrid, ready to stab over it with a sword.

In response, Hitirus punched the silver center. Sending a shivering recoil through the wielder's arm. He quickly hopped over a pike swipe, followed up by ducking beneath another swipe.

The third attacker struck their ally in the face, knocking them off their balance. Hitirus grabbed their pike, then punched them on the chest. Knocking them down.

He swept the second attacker off their feet, then dropped the pike's blunt tip onto their eye. They screamed in agony, hoping the screams would rally more forces.

"Not back for beginners," Hitirus turned to the first and fourth attackers. "Shield, sword, and club... all right."

The first attacker lunged at Hitirus, aiming to shield bash. Hitirus caught the shield by the edges on one hand, then pulled it aside. Which prompted the wielder to drive a front-kick to Hitirus' stomach.

It pushed him back, putting him in position for the club to strike his shoulder. The blow caused Hitirus' attention to switch to the fourth attacker, allowing the first to bash their shield against his face.

Hitirus responded with swinging his right arm towards them, sending magma barreling towards the fourth. He charged at the first, grabbing onto their shield and yanking it aside.

Before the wielder could react, Hitirus kicked him down. However, his Scaler force wasn't there. Making it seem like a simple shove.

Using the shield, Hitirus threw it at the recovering second attacker. He charged at them, catching the shield as it bounced off their head.

He jumped up, bringing the shield down to his feet. Then he kicked it towards the fourth attacker's chest, which seemed like it was fired from a cannon.

More defenders approached the chaos, hoping to extract the injured and take down the offender. They came in with weapons intended to kill.

Everyone stopped when they noticed how the fourth attacker looked. They stared at their chest, shocked at the gaping hole in it.

"Won't you look at that? My strength is back. Come on, guards. I just killed one of your men, push me harder!" Hitirus grinned.

"Careful, taunting isn't the safest option when surrounded. Defeat will make you seem... pathetic," the Melted Thawed advised.

"Shut up, creature!" a Zegus snapped back. "Let him taunt! Come on, Hitirus, give em raw fury."

A guard emerged from behind Hitirus' line of sight, holding a pike towards his back. Then he charged, trying to keep quiet, meanwhile, the other guards steadily approached to cause a distraction.

Hitirus' Feral instincts sensed strange movement behind him, prompting him to step aside. The pike whizzed right by, allowing him to grapple onto it.

The guard gritted his teeth as Hitirus yanked the weapon away. He spun around, then brought the side of its spear-like body against the guard's face. Knocking him down.

Using his momentum, Hitirus hurled the pike to a random guard. Stricking them on the thigh. Then he reached for the previous guard's leg, and yanked him closer.

A sickening crunch rung as Hitirus' sturdy shin clashed against the defender's crotch. The guard groaned in pain as his stomach turned from the impact.

"Careful," the Scaler commented. "I sense something stronger is coming... perhaps paranormal."

Hitirus shrugged off the warning, deciding to focus more on the guards. His bright orange eyes cut them down to size, studying any holes in their defenses.

One major flaw was what they were doing. It appeared like they were retreating, letting the path clear for someone else.

"What are they doing? Give chase and continue the slaughter, Hitirus!" both of the Zegi cheered.

"No, don't. Stand down, can't you feel that presence? It feels like an overwhelming sense of guilt and shame. Whatever is coming wants this fight to be over," the Scaler commented.

The earth beneath his feet began to quake, challenging his balance. Buildings swayed, shops crumbled. Guards changed their priority to get Variants out of the city.

A shadow formed overhead, casting itself over Hitirus. When he looked up, he noticed a completely frozen over Thawed glaring at him.

"So you're the troublemaker?" he asked, almost carelessly.
