Chapter 350 - Once United, Now Divided

"Why did you do this?!? We both could've been at peace, Jakery!" Ether's voice cried out with fury.

In response, Jakery pulsed with energy. "Except peace wasn't an option when I lost you! I need you, Ether - WE need you!"

"Oh, yeah?" Ether raised Tellendor. "How about you grow the fuck up?!"

A blinding flash if purified flames blinded Jakery, Ether deliver a nasty punch to the side of his helmet. Ether quickly followed it up by kicking him back, then swiping Tellendor in Jakery's direction.

Focused heat erupted out of the weapon's blade, unleashing a slash of raw fire towards the younger sibling. It exploded upon contact, melting away armor.

However, Jakery turned up the electricity in his body. Allowing him to increase the static in the air, putting more work on Ether's muscles.

Ether didn't respond fast enough to Jakery's incoming flying knee, which sent him crashing down onto the ground. Road crumbled as the duo landed, leaving behind a small crater.

"We don't need to fight, Ether! You can come back home!" Jakery pleaded.

"Shut up... and think with your brain, not feelings!!" Ether snapped back.

He pushed Jakery off, then shot a foot up. Which connected with Jakery's chin, dazing him at the moment.

Jakery gritted his teeth, resisting the urge to react. Only to feel his older brother drive another kick, this time to his gut. It sent him careening down the street, feet resisting against the force.

Metal screeched like a hellish entity until Jakery lost balance and fell. Giving Ether the opportunity he was looking for.

Twenty fiery wings erupted out of his back, giving him flight. Ether glared at his downed younger brother before coming down like a lightning strike.

Just as he came barreling towards him with Tellendor's murderous tip pointed at his throat, Jakery's arms instinctively raised in defense. Tellendor's metal screeched against his short-sword.

Sparks flew off, landing on Jakery's chest. Flames continued to burn bright like a star, threatening to blind him if he hadn't been in control of blinding light before.

The road crumbled once again, trying to resist the force of two Third Rule Hosts going to war with each other. Ether forced Jakery's blade aside, before stomping down onto his chest.

He then reached for his neck and picked him up from the rubble. Jakery released a surge of electricity, which shocked Ether enough to let him go.

"Why won't you listen?!? Do you hate me??" Jakery cried out.

Ether couldn't react fast enough to block Jakery's punch, followed by a stab. The blade sunk into his stomach, releasing several thousand volts of electricity.

"NNARGH!!!! JAKERY!!" Ether howled in agony. "YOU'RE LOOKING FOR DEATH, LITTLE BOY?!?"

He forced himself to pull Jakery's blade out of his gut, then deliver an over-head right straight to his dome. It wobbled Jakery, allowing Ether to strike him again with an upper-cut.

Warriors watched as Jakery flew over the battlefield, surrounding himself with snow. Only for Ether to rocket up to him, and dig his knee deep into his back.

Everyone who watched believed Jakery's spine was about to snap. But fortunately, it didn't. However, the battlefield was now in the sky. Meaning anything and everything could happen.

Ether slashed the air surrounding Jakery several times, releasing a series of explosions designed to scorch his armor and bake him within it. Despite his fury, Ether knew better than to go overkill.

Jakery screamed, finally caving into the pain he felt. He summoned thunder from the storm clouds, directing them all to smite Ether on the spot.

Lightning struck him several times, electrocuting him back-to-back. His muscles shook erratically and focus quickly faded from the fight.

Flames protested against the shocks, making it more manageable to resist some electricity. While Ether struggled, Jakery floated back. His mind was set on recovering.

He could feel his skin melting and infusing into his armor, which put his muscles in intense agony. These were second-degree burns, possibly the worst type, simply because he could still feel the pain.

Ether also felt his body swell up, and portions even going completely numb. When the flurry of lightning ceased, he searched for the willingness to continue fighting.

Despite how much he wanted to, he knew it was best to cut the fight short. Otherwise, he might end up getting himself killed. He underestimated Jakery's abilities as a fighter, even though he ended up dominating the fight the entire time.

Jakery screamed in pain as his arms came to their proper positions. Even while standing still, it felt like pure hell. He wanted to just out-right die. But couldn't, not to his brother.

Seeing the fight wasn't going so well for him either, Ether careened towards Jakery. Gripping tight onto his neck as he spun around and hurled his brother into a home.

The roof collapsed from the impact, Jakery howled in pain. Debris fell on top of him and buried the poor Zesher beneath the rubble.

Ether came crashing through the opening, fists balled up to slam down on Jakery's chest. His armor sunk, pressing deep into his exposed muscles.

Tears quickly dried up from the sheer heat in the area. Jakery stopped screaming, accepting reality for what it was. He wasn't capable of fighting against a more seasoned and experienced warrior.

In order to get to Ether's league, he had to learn more. Protest against death several times, and train restlessly. But now it was too late, Jakery's end was here.

"Y - you make one hell... of a - of a fighter... Jakery," Ether complimented.

Jakery heard his older brother, but couldn't respond. His vocal cords were too burned up and tired after the fight.

Ether sat down with his sibling, forming a small ball of fire. He looked down at him one more time, seeing past the visor and through the warrior's visage. Seeing what he wanted to see: the loving Zesher from old times.

He crushed the fire in his hand, which caused a pool of healing flames to sprout from the mini-explosion. It washed over him and Jakery, mending their wounds and providing faster healing.

"We all fight tirelessly for what we want, Jakery. You saw that with me when I chased down the Light Legion after accidentally killing Demon," Ether's voice was tranquil.

Jakery nodded, feeling the strange flames restore his skin. He was silent, ashamed of what he did. Ether was right, he did act on his feelings, not on instincts.

"Promise me one thing, Jakery. When we see each other again, I want to see a grown-up. Be that grown-up," Ether stood up from the rubble. "And leave the Coros legacy to me. I am the oldest, therefore its my mantle to pass. As for you, forge your own."

Before Jakery could respond, Ether erupted out of the house. Escaping from the ruins of Kyrosborne for the last time.
