The Infinus Legion returned to Krugi with all of their elites and warriors. Sky Beasts and Siege Weavers landed inside the city's now expanded walls.
Ether's eyes widened as he saw all the new faces Jakery brought with him. He admired Decka's shield, Risk's explosives, Hedix's fashionable armor, and Quinn's fiery smile.
"Who are all these new faces?" he asked in amazement.
"...He wasn't lying, the oldest one is still alive!" Risk commented.
Decka jumped off his Sky Beast and carefully walked towards Ether. He kept his head down to get a perfect view at the Zesher standing a few steps away from him.
"How did you survive? Didn't Talis bring a spear right through you?" Decka asked.
"What? Why are you asking me these questions??" Ether wondered out loud. "Let's put everything away and ensure the injured are being treated, then we can talk."
-Later in the same day-
Krugi was under the cover of night, with the only lights being the flickering flames of candles and fires. A starry night loomed over the city as Ether and Jakery silently celebrated their victory.
It was time for the traitors to speak to Ether himself about their sudden arrival.
Decka, Quinn, Hedix, and Risk made their way to the Coros' home. Demon stood guard outside, his Syndicate Dust silently steamed as the cold breeze washed the city.
Once inside, Ether and Jakery greeted them in an odd manner. Jakery wasn't awake, he was asleep inside Ether's arms while being in a balled up position.
Ether didn't seem to mind having his brother there, it even looked like he was satisfied that Jakery wanted to bring them closer to the old days of being in the Light Legion together.
"Huh? Oh, hey!" Ether said.
"The mighty Undying Revenge in the flesh," Risk chuckled. "If you keep getting away from near-death situations that title will serve you well."
"Is that what I'm known for back in the Light Legion? As the Undying Revenge? What kind of title is that?" Ether sighed.
Decka sat down on a chair across from the two brothers. "You escaped death twice now, giving you the Undying portion. And since you built a Legion to get revenge with, you're known as the Undying Revenge. Simple."
"Got it... anyway, why are you four here?" Ether asked the group.
Quinn shifted her bright orange eyes towards Ether. "Me and Decka wanted to get away from Kas' hand. We are planning on starting a family soon and letting Kas disrespect our offspring like that isn't exactly what we want."
Decka confirmed it by nodding his head. The long brown hair moved as his head did. Then the Zegus fell silent, waiting to hear the next question.
"You don't have to worry about that happening to your kids. I myself dislike being seen as bigger or better than someone else just because of my position," Ether assured Quinn.
Risk's exposed torso caught Ether's attention. The scars and bruises painted a thousand pictures inside his mind of how Risk got those.
"I've noticed all male Ferals never wear anything to cover their torso, is it because they want to show off?" he asked Risk.
"How innocent," Risk's raspy voice answered. "All the females choose their mates depending on their willingness to endure. If you got marks, it means you'll be able to defend the offspring from larger predators."
Ether imagined how he would look like if he had the body of a Feral instead of a Thresher. The skin would be less smooth and he would have muscles to show off. But he was cursed with his current body.
"Okay, that's interesting. So why did you betray the Light Legion?"
"Dire continued to claim himself as the Alpha of Alphas just because all Alpha Males and Females heed his word. I wasn't having any of it," Risk chuckled. "So we betrayed them."
Ether still kept his eyes on the marks, he couldn't believe a Feral had a body this withered. The dim lighting made it difficult for Ether to distinguish any real features, but what he saw impressed him.
Risk had long marks, as if a sharp weapon was dragged over his body. His left arm had a bruise left over from what appeared to be a serious burn. Ether assumed it was from an explosive.
Deep down, Ether knew Risk wasn't the type to simply bow down or make plans. Risk was more interesting in how he could adapt on the fly, and what he could get away with.
"And what about you?" Ether turned his head at Hedix.
The Zegus met Ether's stare with his own pair of sharp green eyes. They studied everything about Ether, even the things he didn't know about himself.
"Well, firstly, I'm Hedix. And the reason why I betrayed the Light Legion was because of their actions. Each one has good intentions, but they don't know how to carry them out," Hedix answered.
"How? They nearly killed us several times!" Ether snapped back.
Hedix's stare got sharper. "I don't know why they wanted you gone. But I know Dire, Kas, and Alise wanted to protect their people more than anything else."
Ether blankly stared at Hedix. "Well, I'll have to beat the reason out of them when the time comes. Since we have more elites I want to give you all places to guard. We're growing quickly."
His words caught the attention of everyone in the room. They silently waited for Ether to say who was going where, and what they would be able to do once they get there.
"Quinn and Decka, you two seem like you want to be alone and in peace. Right?"
The couple nodded in unison.
"I captured this little farm from the Light Legion a while ago. It still somehow isn't taken away from us and Valentine checks on them a lot. How about you two keep an eye on that place?"
The two looked at each other, cracking a smile as they looked into each other's eyes. It was a sign they were excited to live out their lives under the command of the Infinus Legion.
"Risk, what if your pack controlled the area between the town and the outpost Jakery told me you captured? We will need those places when we invite more Legionless Variants into the Legion."
"Just as long as I can get close to those wild Voltaic Weavers I am fine with anything!" Risk agreed.
"Hedix, since there is no one looking after Volknair, can you look after it?" Ether asked his newly made friend.
"Gladly," Hedix replied.
With questions answered and commands given, the meeting between the five Variants ended. Each one walked away with something to look forward to.
For Ether, this was the increase in elites and Jakery's successful attempt at starting the Infinus - Light Legion conflict.
For Quinn and Decka, they were going to be taking care of a farming outpost. Where not many would bother them and the warriors there already knew something about them.
Risk was thrilled to be free from Dire's arrogant attitude. His pack yearned for the ability to run free like the wild Ferals they were made to be. And owning so much space meant they could run as much as they'd like.
And for Hedix, this meant a place where he could freely brainstorm his ideas and a Legion that makes decisions based on the elites around them say. Not make decisions between three leaders.
