Demon dematerialized again, then reappeared in the middle of the next city. He unleashed a furious roar to make his presence clear.
A row of Light Legion defenders rushed to combat the Distorted once again. Their battle-axes and long-daggers sparked to life. Each weapon reflected the explosions overhead.
Siege Cemtras hurled explosives at the Siege Weavers and Sky Beasts. So far, they succeeded in taking out six Sky Beasts and two Siege Weavers. But Infinus showed no signs of stopping.
While an explosion went off above, Demon took it as a cue to attack. He caused knee-high spikes to erupt from under the attackers.
Each spike impaled the bottom of the attacker's foot, locking them in place as they desperately tried to get off the death traps.
But Demon would not allow it to happen. He formed a single giant claw with his arm, it was large enough to reach down the street from where they were.
Then he brought it down upon the helpless warriors. Cutting them vertically, thus ending them instantly.
He looked down and saw a shield from one of the defenders. Demon smiled internally, he wondered what he could do with his power.
Demon reached down to the middle of the shield, then allowed Syndicate Dust to corrupt it. By the end, this shield wasn't single reinforced golden plate with a white body. It was something more.
It was a black and grey shield, hardened by Demon's Will. But also remade to fill any purpose he needed it for.
With that, Demon wielded his new toy with pride. The Distorted made the shield expand, covering his entire arm. It didn't reflect any light; it was as black as a black hole.
Unmatching the glossy black wielder.
Demon shifted his gaze above, he watched the Sky Beasts and Siege Weavers back off from the city. He instantly knew what to test his new toy on.
He watched a Cemtras take aim at a Siege Weaver, it waited for its master to load an explosive into its hand. Demon was not going to allow this Cemtras to throw another explosive.
Just as the Cemtras threw it's explosive, Demon threw his shield at the container. The shield quickly caught up to it before it blew up.
Then it encased the explosive. Inside of the shield, Syndicate Dust corrupted the explosive. After a few short seconds, the shield detached itself from it and allowed the container to drop back down.
What the corruption did was force the explosion to go off sideways, in hopes of taking out as many warriors as possible.
"Tick... tick... boom!" Demon's distorted voice laughed.
A large explosion went off, instantly killing the Cemtras, its master, and the nearby warriors. Demon admired his creation while he waited for his shield to come back.
"What a good boom. Ya know, I love things that go boom! Boom!! BOOM!!!" an unfamiliar voice said.
Demon turned to look at who this was, and realized he caught the attention of an Alpha Male Feral. This Feral had deep grey eyes, black hair, a gold and white belt around his waist, and armor around his legs.
The chest was free for everyone to see. So other Ferals knew this Alpha Male had fought before, and had an immense amount of strength.
"Zinondo tarunao. Yavik, yavik, yavik, yavik!" Demon chanted.
The two broke out into a wild fight. Ferals from this Alpha's pack stood around, watching them strike each other down.
Demon tried catching the kicks and swipes of the Feral, but he couldn't. He was too fast for Demon. When trying to consume the Feral didn't work, Demon tried something different.
A much smaller replica of the claw from earlier appeared on the same arm. The Feral didn't see this as a warning to back off, instead, he saw this as a sign to strike his foe harder.
Demon swiped as hard as he could, trying to catch the Feral's torso or neck. But he ran under the claw, then jumped up to reach Demon's head.
The Feral ignited a wee little popper and threw it as hard as he could against the Distorted's head. It stunned Demon, he stumbled backwards as the Feral jumped off.
He triumphantly unleashed a nerve-striking roar at Demon. The Distorted dropped to one knee, waiting for his opponent to come closer.
And so the Feral did. He grabbed another wee little popper and a dagger from under his belt. The Feral charged at Demon, before he made contact with the Distorted. He threw the little popper at it.
Then spun around to dig the dagger into the Distorted's skull. Demon felt the pain. The feeling of a sharp object penetrating his flesh and bone then digging straight into his brain.
He went limb, dying instantly to the injury. The Feral unleashed another nerve-striking roar, this time pointed around him. His pack joined in.
Then the Feral took aim at unexpected targets. He, along with his pack, rampaged through the city. Killing Light Legion warriors and Cemtras alike. Allowing the overhead assault to continue forward.
"Jakery! Jakery! Hey, can you hear me?" Hazen connected to Jakery's mind.
"Yeah, what's up?"
"Alright, so the barrier is being attacked, unsurprisingly. But it appears you have a new ally just up ahead, and they captured the city for you!" Hazen replied.
The update confused Jakery, the only ones in the next city should be their aerial attackers and Demon. But she didn't sound like she was talking about her brother.
Jakery was half-way to the city. The Light Legion sent some of its most powerful elites to step into the fight, causing them to run late.
But they weren't letting up on their advance. Jakery supercharged himself with electricity, then ran through hordes of Light Legion warriors.
While they fought, the Light Legion rained down explosives to deter the attackers. Yet Infinus still had the urge to continue fighting.
Jakery shocked a Thawed to death before he caught a glimpse at the one in charge of this battalion. It was a Zegus, she had a completely black crossbow in her hands. Which was pointed at him.
She fired. The bolt traveled over the fighting below it. A Light Legion warrior punched an Infinus warrior into the path of the bolt, accidentally saving Jakery.
When the bolt interacted with the unexpecting Infinus warrior, it exploded instantly. Sending its armor into its flesh, causing the warrior to die a slow death.
Jakery charged a barrier made from raw electricity over the downed Infinus' body, he wanted to protect himself and those around him from the deadly bolts. While also doing the downed warrior one last favor: the ability to pass away quicker.
The elite jumped above the battlefield, hoping to get a clearer shot at Jakery. And she did. She fired a volley of explosive bolts, they traveled over the barrier. Striking nothingness while sometimes a target.
But Jakery still remained perfectly fine. With the only injury being the disgust he felt with himself after he killed one of his own warriors.
Another elite came into sight of Jakery, this one had a massive shield with sharp edges that was meant to cut. The elite effortlessly carried the shield towards the conflict, his stride showed confidence.
The first elite whispered something to him, causing the second elite to take a few steps back and ready his shield.
Jakery carefully watched, unaware that his barrier was quickly fading away. The first elite took aim at Jakery, her eyes completely unaware of the chaos around her.
That's when Jakery saw the second elite do something unexpected. He pointed the edges of his shield towards his ally, then rushed forward. Catching the back of her neck, then slamming her against the ground.
She laid there, motionless. While her 'ally' tore his shield off the ground. Then he turned around, and showed the other Light Legion warriors the blood tainted edge.
"YOU ALL BOW TO MY ORDER, OR DIE UNDER KAS' SHADOW!" he screamed.
Fighting back against one of the highest ranked elites plus a whole army was suicide, and the warriors knew exactly just that. So they obeyed. Thawed and Zegi bowed dropped to one knee.
Then the elite turned around to face Jakery. "I am Decka Inua. We, as one, will feed your Legion strength if you promise us a position inside."
Decka, the same one who stood beside Kas during the parade, had betrayed the Light Legion. Along with Risk, the Feral who defied Dire.
They knew it was time for the event to happen, because Pearl described to them when it will be happening and how. Luckily, it was all going exactly how she wanted it.
