"How...this can't be...THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!!"
The little girl just sat there frozen in place as tears began streaming down her small face. She couldn't bring herself to turn her head away for she couldn't believe the sight in front of her.
Everything was happening so fast for the girl, everything around her became muffled sounds and her sight was blurred by her tears. She opened her mouth but no words came out, this was the last thing Little Christy expected to happen. It was a nightmare.
Sitting on the ground just a few feet away from the terrified child, cuffed in chains unconscious was non-other than her mother. Bruise's and cuts covered her dear mother's body and face as her body sat there with the woman's head hung low. Her beautiful red dress earlier now had rips all over it.
"...M-Mommy...?"
Little Christy muttered softly, the shock and fear in her voice visible as her heart started beating rapidly as if trying to jump out of her chest.
At this moment, all the girl wanted to do was cry. Every part of her little
body was shouting at her to go and run up to her mom, wanting to feel that all so familiar warmth and comfort that the woman would always give her. But unless they escape their clutches, it might never happen again.
But...
The girl glanced over in the direction of the man who captured her mother, who was currently attending to the other group of men by a black van.
How could they have caught her? She wouldn't have been caught so easily considering her ability level. So how? HOW??? Why do things like these always happen to me...?
As desperate as the girl was...As much as she wanted these new questions to be answered...There was no one she could trust enough to give her the answers she desperately wanted and deserved. The only ones she does trust were her parents.
But unfortunately for her, her mother wasn't in good shape at the moment, nor was her father there to answer any at all.
Little Christy clutched her jacket tighter and tighter as she tried to contain her sobs. They must've done something to her, no doubt about it. How else would they even be able to lay a hand on her?
"Enough stalling already! Get her in the van before someone sees us." The Captain shouted out to his men before jumping into the passenger seat of a van.
"Yes sir!"
Despite hearing this, the little girl didn't bother fighting back, for she knew very well that if she did they would just continue to keep her mother hostage and hurt her more until the little girl finally gives in. Is this the end? I won't get a chance to fight back?
"Make sure to cuff her too. She might try something fishy with those powers of hers." He said eyeing the girl with a menacing aura as he just clicked his teeth before turning away.
The men complied with their captain's orders as they forcefully grabbed little Christy by her arms, hoisting her up while keeping a tight grip on her.
The little girl gave a sharp hiss as she felt her arms getting painfully squeezed to the point of them beginning to form bruises.
She raised her head to meet their eyes as the men just glared down at her. They must've wanted revenge for the girl hitting them early. And in one swift movement, the men latched a pair of bracelet cuffs on the girl's arms.
The men then quickly led the girl to an open expensive-looking black van before forcefully stuffing her inside it, quickly shutting the door in the process.
The girl flinched as she slowly rubbed her painful arms where the men grabbed her early. It was definitely going to leave bruises.
After massaging her arms a bit, easing the pain she then began to look around the van. It was quite dark inside since the only source of light there was the light coming from the street lights, so the little girl struggled to see everything in the van. But as soon as her eyes adjusted to the darkness, she was able to make out the things in the van.
The inside of the van was empty, they must've taken out everything making sure Christy didn't use anything inside to escape.
Little Christy slowly then began to make her way towards the front of the van, only to feel a black tinted glass separating them. The girl furrowed her eyebrows at this. They really thought this through
The little girl then let out a deep sigh before averting her attention back to the men outside the black van. Glancing from the inside of the van it seemed that the vehicle was currently being surrounded by a bunch of suited men from all angles.
"How am I going to escape this?"
The girl muttered under her breath as she counted the men surrounding the van.
6 men in total
All of them guarding every inch of the van.
So they're really serious about kidnapping me?
But why struggle this much just to get a girl?
The girl shook her head before clenching her fist. Now wasn't the time to question and the girl knew it. All she needed to do right now was to find an opening and save her mother-
SMACK!
With a loud slap being heard even from inside the van. The girl snapped her head around and to her horror, her mother was now being slapped by the Captain over and over again. They were too far away from the van so she couldn't understand a thing he was saying.
The girl then started pounding her fist against the windows, desperately shouting for the men to stop what they were doing as the guys paid no attention.
"Stop it! I said stop! Please! "
But not a second later the girl's eyes widened at the scene in front of her. Her mother was now on the ground conscious as she just glared at the man. And soon enough the situation began to escalate quickly.
"Damn bitch! What did you just do?" The Captain shouted slapping the woman once more causing her to fall to her side. The woman seemed to whisper something under her breath that only the captain heard, but what was more shocking was how he looked stunned after hearing it. What did she say?
"Captain! We have a problem! Team C reported spotting a figure rushing over to this area at lightning speed sir! We have to evacuate as soon as possible."
"Already?!" The man hissed under his breath as he snapped his head around to face his team.
"We're moving out! Half of you quickly lock this bitch up! And the rest, make sure no traces are left! We can't let anyone find out-"
SMASH!
"Huh..? What's happening out there?"
Little Christy muttered to herself as she watched as the scene before her was now engulfed in a puff of dirt particles shielding the girl's sight.
What if something bad was happening?
The girl started to think of the worst-case scenario as she tried opening the van, pulling on the door handle as hard as she could but it didn't budge.
What if they did something to Mommy?
Fear began to well up inside the girl once again as she just clenched her fists in worry, but soon the worry dispersed and her attention was back on the transparent windows.
I still have to try getting out of here!
THUD!
The girl tried punching the window with her ability but to the girl's surprise, nothing happened.
"W-Why isn't my ability working!?" The girl huffed in frustration as she laid back down on her seat. She then glanced down at the cuffs on her arms, examining it.
Are these the reason why my ability isn't working?
The girl then tried prying the cuffs off of her but it was locked on tight.
"How do I get these off of me-"
ARGH!
THUD!
SMACK!
SWOOSH!
SWISH!
The girl jumped up from her seat and peeked through the window, the dust was still covering her view so she couldn't see anything clearly. However, she could make out seeing multiple figures being thrown around the place.
And soon enough all the dust that was clouding her vision soon disappeared in an instant, and as soon as it did the girl's jaw dropped and a wave of joy and relief immediately washed over her as her eyes widened in shock.
"Daddy!"
In the middle of a group of unconscious bodies, fighting the black-suited men off was none other than her father. Her eyes lit up in excitement as she placed her hands on the window.
As the girl just sat there watching her father beat up the men from afar, she noticed how the black men surrounding the car earlier were now gone and only she was left.
"Huh?"
Then all of a sudden the van door began to open making the girl flinch. But as soon as the girl turned her head towards the person who opened the van door, she wasted no time at all and soon jumped on them squeezing them into a big tight hug.
"Mommy!" Little Christy wrapped her small arms around her mother's neck as her mother squeezed her back, placing a kiss on her daughter's forehead.
"Sorry to keep you waiting for darling, I hope you weren't too scared"
"You didn't Mommy, I promised to be brave in the face of danger. I even gave them a small beating" the girl let out a chuckle as her mother just smiled.
"Oh dear, let me get this off of you first."
Her mother said glancing down at the cuffs on her daughter's wrists. She then placed her hand over the cuffs and in an instant, the cuffs opened up.
"There!"
Little Christy grinned at this and hugged her mother again as she did the same. But then all of a sudden something suddenly hit the girl.
"Mommy, why is this all happening to us?"
Her mother's ears perked up at her questions.
"I'm not so sure either Christy, everything is still confusing for me too..."
"Maybe I can clear things up"
The mother and daughter turned their heads and immediately the girl jumped on that person with a smile on her face.
"Daddy!"
"Hey little Angel, hope I didn't worry you"
"Oh hell no! You definitely scared our darling half to death! " Lia, Christy's mother shouted smacking Damon, her father at the back of his head.
"Okay! Okay! I get it! I'm sorry"
Little Christy laughed as she saw her mother beat her father over and over again. A sight she missed seeing, and now that everything is over she would be seeing it more often.
"How about let's go home and take a good night's rest. Afterall we don't want our Christy getting cranky in the morning now do we?" Her father joked petting the girl's head as little Christy let out a huff.
"Hey! I don't get cranky in the morning!"
"Well, to be fair you do get very cranky"
The couple just laughed at their daughter's reaction as she started throwing a fit.
"Let's go to the theme park that was talking about the other day! Let's go tomorrow! It's the weekend so you guys are free! "
"Sounds like a plan then. Let's talk about it when we get home." Christy's father said in a happy tone as they all started walking back home. But just from the corner of the girl's eyes, she could faintly see her father's happy expression early turn into a frown in an instant as soon as they started walking, but the girl just brushed this off as her father being tired from fighting those guys.
But now that she thought about it...
What happened to the man and her father back in the abandoned hospital?
Did he defeat him?
The girl just figured she would ask her father this when they arrive home, even she was feeling exhausted.
The streets were still dark and empty as the cold night wind blew in my face. She didn't even know what time it was but it was definitely late.
From the corner of her eye, Christy could see her mother's hands were shivering from the cold as she tried warming them up by rubbing them.
Little Christy frowned at this as she realized something, has her mother been coping with the cold all this time with no jacket on? She must have been freezing all this time.
Little Christy then got an idea, she grabbed her mother's hand making the woman glanced over at her. She watched as her daughter placed her hands over her mouth breathing on it making it warm again.
"There! Now you won't be cold"
Lia glanced down at this and smiled before glancing around to see Damon placing his jacket over her shoulders. But instead of being happy, the little girl notices a frown making its way up to her mother's face.
Was she missing something here?
"Come on Christy! We don't want you getting lost now!"
Christy's mother shouted out to Christy as she snapped back to reality. Without realizing it, her legs unconsciously stopped walking and just stood there in thought.
Lifting her head meeting her parent's gazes at them they just stared at her with smiles on their faces. As she saw their soft smiles the little girl just could help but smile back as she began walking again, trailing close behind them.
"Coming!"
Maybe I was just overthinking things...
Yeah...
Just overthinking things...
Afterall... everything is over right?

{ 2:00 AM }
"Ahh!!! It's soo comfy!!!"
Little Christy squealed into her pillow as she buried her face into it. It has been an hour since they arrived home. Little Christy just finished washing up and was just getting ready to go to bed. The little girl cuddled her small body against her comforters as she stared up at her ceiling, her glow-in-the-dark star stickers lighting up her darkroom.
As Christy just laid there on her bed, she had decided that tomorrow she would finally confront her parents about what happened early. Questions filled the little girl's head as she thought of the questions she would ask them.
Who was their boss?
What was her father's relationship with him?
What are they planning?
They won't come for us again, right?
Little Christy let out an exasperated sigh as she rolled onto her side, glancing over to her alarm clock sitting on her bedside table.
GROWL!
The little girl placed her hand on her stomach as she slowly sat up. Suddenly realization hit her, she forgot to eat dinner early, no wonder she was starving.
Little Christy then slowly got up and slipped her bunny slippers on, she glanced over to her bedside drawer and opened it to reveal her flashlight. She quickly and quietly picked it up and closed her drawer back in before slowly making her way towards her door. A little late-night snack wouldn't hurt anyone.
As long as her parents don't find out, she's in the clear. While the girl slowly made her way downstairs towards the kitchen little Christy started reminiscing the time she got caught by her mother eating some midnight snack and was punished after by taking away all her gadget and her tv rights. She shivered at the thought of her mother sneaking up on her and jump scaring her in the middle of her snacking session.
After a few more steps she finally reached the kitchen, making sure she made no sound at all. The whole house was silent and dark, with the only source of light coming from the flashlight in her hand.
Taking a deep breath and placing her flashlight on their countertop, she carefully opened their fridge. As soon as she opened it, she dove right in and started searching it for some food.
After careful selection she finally settled on the leftover cookies and milk she ate yesterday. Licking her lips at it, she slowly picked up the plate of cookies and glass of milk out of the fridge before slowly closing it again.
CLINK!
The sound of the plate being placed on the table and the glass of milk echoed through the house as little Christy slid into one of the dining table seats. Not a second later, the little girl began to gobble down the cookies one by one as she gulped down some milk from time to time. And before she knew it she finished everything, leaving an empty plate and an empty glass on the table.
BURP!
"That was so good, I should do this more often!"
Little Christy thought happily before sliding out of her seat and picked up her dirty dishes, carefully placing them in the sink.
"I guess I should go back to sleep now then." She muttered to herself, glancing over to the countertop then picking up her flashlight.
As she began walking up the stairs back up to her room. She flinched back down to the bottom of the stairs as she saw a dark figure slowly making its way down the stairs. Out of fright, little Christy dashed back towards the dining room and ducked under the dining table, closing her flashlight to not give away her hiding spot.
Little Christy placed her hand over her mouth as she watched the dark figure of a person walk past her. At this moment, questions kept filling the girl's mind as she clutched her flashlight tightly. Little Christy had no idea who it was, let alone she was too scared to even check
Who was that person? What were they doing our the house? Are they here for me again?
The girl gritted her teeth and shook her head.
NO... Now's not the time to panic. I'll just have to confront them first, I shouldn't jump to conclusions.
As soon as the girl heard the clicking sound of the front door being opened, she jumped out of her hiding spot and rushed out the door too in hopes to see who the dark figure belonged to.
"Hey! Stop right there!"
And as soon as those words left my mouth the figure flinched and turned around, making my eyes go wide and my jaw drop.
"Christy?" The guy turned around as his expression turned to confusion.
"Daddy?" Christy's voice held confusion in them as she slowly walked towards her father.
"Where..are you going?"
