Yara immediately went up to me with a bone-chilling presence. I can feel myself slightly getting choked by her sheer aura alone.
"I sensed a strange flow of aura from you. What did you do?" Yara said as she stared into my soul.
I can't tell her about 「Akashic Records」because I'm afraid and her way of asking makes me want to refrain from telling her anything.
"Just forget about it, maybe you've used up too much aura," Alpha said as he calmly pats Yara's shoulder.
"But... That Barrier won't break unless acted upon by a greater force. Could it be that..." Yara replied with an even more puzzled look.
Alpha sighed and said, "You should take a rest for a while and see what you can come up with after refreshing your brain. Accusing someone without any evidence is not a good thing."
Yara then retracted her aura and replied, "Maybe you're right. I feel a bit sleepy."
She then lay down on the couch and immediately fell asleep. The whole scenario was so fast that I was speechless.
...
As the hours went by, I didn't realize it was already midnight. Yara is gone because of an urgent reconnaissance. Eta is sitting while sleeping beside the couch, holding the book slightly open as if she slept while reading.
Alpha on the other hand went out to get some fresh air, I hope he's alright. Considering what had happened during the accident, he's gonna take the blame for it.
For some reason, I can't sleep. Usually, I immediately fell asleep after some time. But, a few minutes have passed and I don't feel drowsy.
Since I have time for myself, I should use 「Akashic Records」again. To my surprise, it doesn't have a cool down.
"Skill details," I said in a low voice. A screen popped up with the following text,
[[<< ... >>]]
<<[^[^[^[^]>> Akashic Records (???) <<[^[^[^[^]>>
<< Level: 1 >>
<< Required ?? >>
[<< You have the right to see through this world. >>]
Effects:
<< ??????????? >>
"You have the right to see this world?" well, I guess that summarizes what the skill can do. But the vibe it gave is ominous, to say the least.
"Use skill, 「Akashic Records」" I mumbled.
The same as usual happened. My thought process accelerated, my body began to shine as bright as a newborn star and my surroundings started to simplify.
I checked my memory and saw a lot of events that are spread out in a line, assuming from the past to the future. Ranging from War, Famine, birth of a new emperor, and a lot more.
I can also see the timelapse of both the 'Kingdom of Sanctus and 'Kingdom of Phantasma.' I continued to subconsciously watch the screen as time passed.
I was immediately woken up by the sound of the notification saying that 「Akashic Records」is about to end. As I stretched my arms, I got a glimpse of the screen, still playing the timelapse of both kingdoms. But then, something felt wrong as I kept watching.
I don't know if this is the function of the 「Akashic Records」, but it kept repeating. As I kept staring at the screen. I can see the rise and downfall of both kingdoms.
'Kingdom of Sanctus' will eventually collapse internally due to ■■■ ■■■■■ ■■. And 'Kingdom of Phantasma' will be overthrown by a ■■■■■ ■■■■■.
Well, at least that's what was shown. But after that, it is something I cannot clearly explain.
The screen went black for a couple of seconds, before suddenly showing a blank white space, displaying a word that says, "Let it all repeat." in Kanji..?
The screen started to warp for a few minutes, then it began to collapse into a single point, before showing both kingdoms back in their early phase again.
Before I could do anything, I was immediately sent back to bed, never realizing that 「Akashic Records」have already ended.
The sun is already rising. And I'm getting a bit bored. I pulled out the needle that was on my left arm connected to the IV bag and then stood up and wore the boots that were right beside the door.
I checked Eta to see if she was awake but she's still sleeping. I hope her legs won't cramp.
I opened the door revealing a horizontal hallway with the same walls and floor as the room. I silently walked my way through the hallway and made a beeline toward the stairs.
Before I stepped on the stairs, someone pulled my hospital gown. It was the kid from earlier who was feeding the cat.
Her eyes are pitch black with eye bags and her hair is grey which is long and spiky as if it wasn't groomed. She's tiny, at least less than half of my height.
Her clothes aren't great, she's wearing a tattered brown rag with specks of dust and stitched clothes. She looked at me with a slight frown and asked,
"Where are you going, mister?"
I replied, "I'm going out." as I cautiously looked around the hallway. I told her to go back to her room now, but she insists to follow me.
"Take me with you" the kid pleaded.
"Why should I? Besides, you have someone to look out for" I replied.
The kid looked at me while sobbing and said, "She's gone. I have no one to follow"
It's not like I can't leave her alone. I don't know why, but she reminds me of someone. Someone very familiar.
"Fine, I'll let you tag along" I unknowingly said. But it was too late to retract what I said now as I saw the kid showing enthusiasm in her eyes.
"Call me Nift!" the kid said as she crawls from my boots to my shoulder.
Nift asked, "What's your name?"
"you can call me Kash" I replied.
As she comfortably dangles on my shoulder, I continued to go downstairs, proceeding to the second floor.
I can't leave the hospital because of what I'm wearing because if they saw me, I'll be immediately sent back to my room.
There are more people on the second floor, it will be hard for Kash to at least get past the amount of people casually minding their business.
From what info the 「Akashic Records」gave Kash, most of them are in their rooms, monitoring the patients.
"Nift, help me distract them for awhile" Kash requested.
Nift replied, "Okay!" and ran through the hallway, drawing the people's attention toward her.
Kash immediately dashed in, silently dodging and maneuvering through the crowd.
As Kash is almost at the stairs, he was instantly greeted by 2 soldiers, holding a two-pronged spear and wearing iron plate armor and helmet, standing beside the door that leads to the stairs, talking with each other.
Before dashing in, Kash quickly grabbed Nift that was trapped in the crowd, and sped up the pace.
"We're barging in!" Kash said to Nift.
Without thinking, Kash then dashed forward banging the door, immediately startling the soldiers, and ran through the stairs leading to the first floor.
"Hey!" the 2 soldiers pursued Kash and Nift who were at the door leading to the first floor.
Nift threw a smoke bomb that was hiding in her blue rag, covering the soldiers' vision.
Kash then casually opened the door with Nift dangling by his shoulders. One of the people looked at Kash but didn't mind and continued what he was doing.
Kash then went to the clothes rack that was beside the potted plant near the reception area and took white clothes and some shorts as if it was his and went to the bathroom.
In the bathroom, there were 6 urinals and 4 toilet rooms, Kash then went into one of the toilet rooms, leaving Nift to guard the bathroom and got dressed.
Kash walked to the sink and washed his face. As the commotion got louder outside the bathroom, Kash then slid Nift through one of the windows, leaving Kash in the bathroom.
Alright, now that Nift is outside, I'll go have a spar with the soldiers. As one of the soldiers barged into the bathroom, he saw Kash casually leaning against the wall, talking to himself.
The soldier confronted Kash and what is he doing. But Kash didn't reply and continued to murmur about obscure things.
Enraged by this, the soldier shouted, as if he had met the one who killed his parents. Kash didn't say anything and continued to whisper, while subtly mocking the soldier.
The Soldier had enough and pointed the spear toward Kash, one of the soldiers instantly pulled his fellow soldier urging him to stop.
But his emotions are already off the charts and began to talk about how his life is going downhill. The soldier was tired of his life, always doing the same thing over and over.
The soldier then talked about how much he owed to his saviors, yet he didn't do anything when they were dying.
That event caused him to resent and belittle his life, eventually hurting his friends and family, to the point where they outcasted him, leaving him sums of money but a solitary life forever.
The soldier calmed down and then thanked his fellow soldier for stopping him from killing Kash, but he had some steam to blow off and challenged Kash for a first fight.
Seeing the opportunity, Kash passionately agreed to the fight and altered his stance to Southpaw, while the soldier altered his to Orthodox.
