I will never forget that long 3 hours that flew away like 3 secs. Molly and I anyway made NB promise to watch movies with us. He set up a 67-inch TV with access to NETFLIX and YOUTUBE! Who wouldn't want to watch, man!
Hmm...after convincing him, we crazy sisters, had to deal with big challenges. 1st challenge was of choosing the movies to watch with him. You know, we had to choose some first-rate films to have a good impression on NB. It was kinda hard for us to prove that we too had a great sense of films as NB's a movie freak! And, we also had to go for the decent ones...'cause you know...some films!
Well, after a joint, lengthy but worthwhile discussion, we shortlisted a few films, by "a few," I mean 11 films. Among those, some were horror, many were action and only 1 was from the romantic category. We were certainly afraid of choosing the romantic ones and we checked the age rating of every film carefully.
On 22nd December, with NB's consent, at last, we ended up watching SKYSCRAPER. We also watched another film, THE CURSE OF LA LLORONA. That was a horror film, but seemingly, it couldn't scare us even a bit. We weren't that much concerned about the movie, 'cause a way more fascinating film was going on in reality.
Our 2nd challenge was to create a theatre-type vibe to the small living room where we sat to watch movies. So we switched all the lights off of the room. There posed a question that who would sit beside him. First, for some time, he lied down on the couch. Later, we made him sit between us. Oh yes, my brother was also in there. Molly and I kept him with us to keep safe from the cringy looks of others for being alone with NB. By the way, my brother also likes NB immensely.
I still remember Mr Man In Black was in a black half-sleeved t-shirt with a pair of ripped-up jeans that day. He was vaping, snapchatting and watching the films concurrently. So appealing! I still remember ruffling his hair with my hand. Then I went to drop some words and asked, "Have you ever watched SKYSCRAPER before?" He said, "I think so, but I forgot the story." I muttered, "Why won't you if you watch movies in this manner!" Meanwhile, my brother asked NB, "Bro, do you know, what is a kiss called in the French language?" I smirked, "That's like my brother!" Funny 8-year-old boy! Mr Man In Black giggled, "Why do you know only these types of words?" We all laughed together.
I know a little bit of French and can speak some common sentences. So as my brother raised the topic of FRENCH, I decided to vent out some lines to NB. I didn't want to hide any of my qualities from him. I said, "Je t'aime, garçon." This means I LOVE YOU, BOY and he was only listening without understanding. But I didn't spill out the meaning of any of those sentences. I was shy to confess. I further stated, "Tu es mon amour." And this kinda means the same, YOU ARE MY LOVE. After hearing these, he inquired me, "If you know French, then tell me how to say thank you?" I gulped hearing him testing me. But thank God! I knew how to say thank you. I said confidently, "Merci!" He just nodded his head that I was right. I was glad that I could come up smelling roses.
In the middle of the movie, I saw him making a Snapchat story. Molly then unlocked her mouth saying, "Hey! I also have a Snapchat account." NB reacted, "Oh." A moment passed by and then I caught him stalking someone on Instagram. I couldn't hold my tongue, "Whom are you stalking on Insta?" "No one. I even don't have an Insta. I deleted it months ago as my followers reached a high peak," lied NB through his teeth. He answered me bending the truth for throwing dust into my eyes. Why would he do that? I taunted him kinda acknowledging his lies, "It is understandable for you to have a great number of followers. I mean anyone would follow an attractive man like you!"
Thereupon Molly told that she had Instagram as well. She stood up from the couch, came to NB and showed her Insta account. Her name is Devil Queen or something devilish like that. Mr Man In Black put a glance and said, "Ooh, Devil Queen?!" I promptly poked my nose into their talk, "I don't have either of those. I just don't like always jumping on the bandwagon. It's a waste of time." Molly mocked my viewpoint for being outdated and argued with me. She played a devil's advocate in front of NB to belittle me. But sometimes a storm brings sunshine with it. My Mr Man In Black stuck up for me when I was hurt by Molly's words, "If she is Devil Queen, you are MUSIC QUEEN." That was an arrow to my heart that he hit being an archer.
Nonetheless, it wasn't easy for us to spend the movie-time in peace. Some people who were acting as chaperones were responsible for this. Mr Man In Black's brother was one of them. Another one was my uncle. Both were just busy rocking the boat when finally things got easier and comfortable with Mr Black. They were calling NB for attending a meeting constantly that we had to pause the movie several times. Despite the denial of the proposal by him, they didn't stop sticking to that same topic. They were bumping their heads over and over again into the room making us feel apprehensive that NB would agree to go being persuaded by them. "High-five!" beamed Molly and I when Mr Black retorted, "No, I don't want to go!" Before that, I supposed that he'd stay as a shrinking violet as always. Lastly, they couldn't help leaving without NB.
The movie was again resumed. There's a scene in SKYSCRAPER when the mother of the children tries to cross the bridge through a narrow hardboard. She was wearing heels in that scene. Thereon we all boomed, "Hey Lady! You should've put off your heels first!" Jinx!
Speaking about LA LORONA, 2-3 scenes were a little spooky out of the whole. Mr Black screamed closing his eyes with his hand, "Now the spirit will attack, no!!!" I never realized that he would be so frightened by a silly, little horror film. Molly and I regretted choosing this film. But glimpsing his priceless reaction, we were appreciative of our decision.
The lights were on again! Those apparent 3 seconds became the nicest MOVIE-TIME that I had ever had!
