Sable woke up early in the morning, feeling refreshed after a good night's sleep. He stretched his arms and legs and got out of bed. He changed into his workout clothes and headed out for a quick run around the neighbourhood.
After his morning exercise routine, Sable went back home and took a shower.
Sable sat in front of his new computer, his fingers hovering over the keyboard as he re-familiarized himself with the internet of 2007. He had spent the previous night setting up his new desktop and getting it connected to the internet service provider.
As he navigated through various websites, he thought about why he had chosen to use this computer instead of the laptop he brought from the future. He remembered that the laptop only worked on wifi and did not have a LAN port. Since wifi was not yet widely popular in the Philippines in 2007 and was only available in hotels, cafes, and other commercial environments, and not yet available inside normal households. This limitation made it impossible for him to use his laptop for trading stocks.
Sable took note of this limitation, realizing that he had much to learn about the technology and infrastructure available in 2007. He made a mental note to study and research more about the technology trends of this time so that he could make informed decisions about his actions,
Sable then switched to FutureNet (the laptop he brought from the future), scrolling through charts and financial news from the future. He had been spending the past few days researching and analyzing the stocks he planned to trade once he gained access to his trading account. He had narrowed down his focus to two companies: Apple and Amazon.
According to his research, both companies had shown significant movement in the stock market in the month of May. Apple is also planning to announce the release of iPhones in June, and Amazon had just announced a new acquisition that was expected to increase their revenue.
Sable felt frustrated that he couldn't get the specific day-to-day price action and movement for Apple and Amazon in 2007, despite his research using the FutureNet. He tried different websites and forums, but the information available was only on a monthly scale, Worst case scenario i'll just be a monthly trader and not a day trader Sable smirked.
However, he didn't let this discourage him. He focused on researching the monthly trends for the two companies and analyzed their historical data to get a better understanding of their potential for growth. Sable knew that he needed to stay patient and keep a close eye on the market. He was determined to make the most of his time in 2007 and achieve his goals.
He also researched other potential stocks to trade to diversify his portfolio. Despite the limitations, he was determined to make the most out of his trading venture and learn as much as he could from this experience.
As the day turned into evening, Sable finished his research and closed his FutureNet. He changed back into his workout clothes and headed out for a jog to clear his mind and relax.
Sable returned home feeling accomplished for the day. He took a shower and settled in for the evening.
The next day,
May 9
Sable received a call from Mr. Hernandez.
"Good morning, Sable. Your trading account is now available," Mr. Hernandez informed him.
"Thank you for letting me know," Sable replied eagerly.
"You can now log in to the trading website to check if everything is in order. Your username and password should have been sent to your email," Mr. Hernandez added.
"Alright, I'll check it right away. Thank you for the heads up," Sable said.
"Oh, and one more thing, your leverage of 5:1 is already enabled in this account. This means that for every 1 peso, you can trade up to 5 pesos in value," Mr. Hernandez explained.
"Wow, that's great news! Thank you, Mr. Hernandez, for everything," Sable said with excitement in his voice.
"No problem, Sable. It's my pleasure to assist you. Good luck with your trades!" Mr. Hernandez replied before ending the call.
Sable hurriedly went to his bedroom, which was a typical teenage bedroom with posters of his favorite bands and movies adorning the walls. In one corner was his computer desk with a new set of computer and accessories while in the other corner was his FutureNet laptop setup, which he used to access the internet of 2023. He sat down on his chair and turned on his computer, eagerly waiting for it to boot up.
As he waited, he couldn't help but think about how excited he was to finally start trading. He had spent hours researching and studying the market, and now that his trading account was finally available, he could put his future knowledge to use. He thought about the different strategies he could use, the risks he would take, and the potential rewards he could reap.
Checking his account details, he saw that the 12 million pesos he had transferred to Mr. Hernandez's brokerage had been credited to his trading account. Out of the 12 million, he allocated 10 million for trading and 2 million for margin.
Sable looked at the clock on his computer screen and saw that it was already 10:00am. He thought to himself, "I need to be more mindful of the time. NASDAQ market opens at 9:30am and closes at 3:00pm in the Philippines." He made a mental note to always check the time and be mindful of the market schedule.
Sable quickly opened his trading platform and navigated to the Apple stock page. He analyzed the charts, trends, and historical data from the previous months. Based on his research and the data he gathered from FutureNet, he was convinced that the Apple stock was going to increase in price by 21.63 percent this month.
Sable felt a bit of regret that he missed the opportunity to invest in Amazon when it increased by 54 percent last month. However, he reminded himself to focus on the present and not to dwell on the past. He had to make the most out of his current situation and take advantage of the trading opportunities available to him.
Sable's heart was racing as he took a long position on Apple. He had researched and analyzed the data extensively, and he felt confident that the price would increase significantly. He quickly placed a buy order of 3.53 dollars using his 10 million pesos. With the leverage of 5:1
Assuming that he buys Apple at 3.53 dollars per share, which is equivalent to approximately 162.38 pesos (3.53 x 46), he can purchase a total of 307,622 shares (50,000,000 / 162.38).
Excitement coursed through Sable's veins as he clicked the "Buy" button on his trading platform, placing the order for 307,622 shares of Apple at 3.53 dollars per share.
He opened up his research notes on Apple and went through them again, making sure he had everything in order.
The thought of owning that many shares of one of the most valuable companies in the world was exhilarating to him.
Sable leaned back on his chair, staring at the screen of his computer. The current price of Apple was at 3.58 dollars per share. It was still far from his target price of 3.53 dollars, but he was confident that based on his research and historical data from FutureNet, it would eventually get there.
"It's just a matter of time," he muttered to himself, "I need to be patient and trust the analysis." Sable knew that trading was not for the faint of heart and that waiting for the right moment was part of the game. He was willing to wait, even if it took days for his order to be filled.
While watching the ticker on his screen with a sense of calm determination. He thought about his position in the market, like an ant in a vast colony. Small, insignificant, but with the potential for something much greater.
"At this moment, I'm just a tiny ant in the market. But with time and patience, I will grow into a super ant. A force to be reckoned with, capable of moving the market in my favor."
He smiled to himself, feeling a sense of power and control over his financial destiny. He knew that it wouldn't be easy, that there would be setbacks and challenges along the way. But he was ready for the journey, ready to learn and grow.
"Every step I take, every trade I make, I am one step closer to becoming a master of the market. And when that day comes, I'll look back on this moment as the beginning of a great adventure."
Sable looked at the clock on his computer and realized that it was already midday. He decided to take a break and go for a quick jog outside. He knew that keeping a healthy lifestyle was important for his overall well-being, especially when dealing with the stress of trading.
Sable sat at the dining table with his mom, enjoying a hearty meal after a long day of trading. She looked at him and asked, "How was your day, Sable? Have you been trading?"
Sable smiled and replied, "Yes, Mom. I placed my first trade today."
His mom's eyes widened with interest, "Oh really? How did it go?"
Sable took a deep breath and said, "It's still early to tell, Mom. But I'm optimistic. I believe my research and analysis will pay off."
His mom nodded and asked, "How much did you invest, Sable?"
Sable hesitated for a moment, then decided to share the information, "I invested 10 million pesos in total, Mom. I used a leverage of 5:1, which means I borrowed some funds to increase my buying power."
His mom looked concerned and asked, "Isn't that risky, Sable? What if you lose it all?"
Sable reassured her, "I understand the risks, Mom. But I also believe in my skills and knowledge. I'm not gambling, I'm investing. And I have a plan and strategy in place."
His mom looked at him with a proud smile and said, "Well, I believe in you, Sable. I know you're responsible and wise. Just be careful, okay?"
Sable nodded and said, "I will, Mom. Thank you for your support.
Sable's mom nodded. "Also, I've been gathering your school records and other necessary documents for your transfer. We'll have to go to your school next week to process everything," she said.
Sable takes a deep breath and leans back in his chair, thinking about his mother's words. As she continues to speak, his mind begins to wander to the thought of going back to school.
"Going back to high school," he thinks to himself. "It's almost like a dream come true. I mean, sure, it's going to be weird to be the new kid again, but I'll have a chance to start fresh. And this time, I'll have the benefit of experience."
He takes another bite of his food and continues his thoughts. "I'll be able to approach things differently this time. I'll be more confident, more outgoing. I'll make friends faster and not worry so much about what other people think of me. And best of all, I'll be able to focus on my studies and really excel academically."
Sable can feel a sense of excitement building within him as he thinks about the possibilities. "Who knows what opportunities could come my way in high school? Maybe I'll discover a new passion or interest that I never knew I had. Maybe I'll meet someone who will change my life. Anything is possible."
He looks up at his mother with a smile on his face. "You know what, Mom? I think going back to school might be just what I need. It's going to be a challenge, but I'm ready for it. I'm going to be a super ant in the market, and a super student in school.
