Chereads / Ximena / Chapter 10 - Away

Chapter 10 - Away

Ximena rushed in a confused state as she got a call about her mum. "Nothing must happen to mum," she cried as she ran from her class, final exams done and she going to grade 12.

A year passed already and still Kaylee texts her almost everyday even after they separated and even wanted to come see Ximena but she convinced her that the video calls were better. And like that, she had only two friends in her new school as she got more conservative and talked less.

She spent more time painting and listening to music since their new house had a good night view where she stayed late till mid night. Her mum's new job got more stable and she with that, she stayed at home more. But there really wasn't much to say just watching movies together and few talks about random stuffs.

And now that everything is falling to place her mum what!.

"Kim!!!" Gina called as she ran and hugged her tightly throwing her up in the air.

"Babe," she screamed and hugged her again." It's been three months since we last saw right?" Kim said as she helped her carry her box and put it in the car's boot while Gina sat in the front seat while Kim drove.

"Wow girl, I thought you weren't going to ever come back." "How is aunt now," Kim asked Gina who turned on some music.

"She's good, I just spent few weeks with her and then with dad and then with my dad's younger sister."

"Gosh, it's been a whole hell of trip." "Dad's family are so annoying, worst of all, they live in a big castle because he's from a royal family."

"Really!" Kim asked interestedly.

"Yeah, his dad and the king are step brothers." "Some kind of shitty family connection."

"Anyways, let's forget all that and have all the fun we can. I totally missed you," Gina said.

"I missed you more durh!!" Kim said pouting and stopped at a cafe to buy ice creams.

"So all is left is last grade right?" Yup...

"Can you see what you caused yourself?" Mandy cried as she held Pauline's hand.

"I can't believe my daughter suffered this much in life," she cried holding her hand into hers. "From marrying a useless gay who wanted to act normal in front of his family, his selfish desires lead to Ximena's birth and then he left when she was two."

"Because, the mother fucker couldn't keep up with his lies, died when she was seven without paying his loans leaving you as his next of kin to pay for it."

"I can't believe this, then we later found out he gave the money to his lover who spent it on drugs and a failed investment, now that damn bastard is still making you suffer in his grave." "How could he do this."

And just then, Ximena collapsed in front of the ward door hearing everything her granny has said. Her dad? Gay?

"Why would he now marry mum? he should have just stayed true to his feelings."

The blow was hard on her as she walked confused out of the hospital, trying hard so her eyes wouldn't betray her. Dad put them into so much trouble for his own personal shitty life. She remembered clearly how her mum's family building was seized and the house they bought. He used everything as collateral and she swore never to forgive her dad but hearing this made her body weak in sadness. Her mum had carried so much in her mind without telling her and still she tried to find happiness in her daughter, and gave her everything she wanted without complaining and even paid the rest of the loan without complaining. "Why would she have cancer now again?"

"Why!!"

After an hour passed, she entered the ward and stared painfully at her mum, her heart in so much grief and pain as her granny hugged her tightly.

"Your mamma is gon be fine, don't worry."

"It's still at it's early stage so she can get treatment, She'll live," she murmured.

There was pain in her voice, and grief in both heart and probably uncertainty in her mum's mind.

School was suspended, total care for her mum and lots of part-time jobs to forget the pain. All was what Ximena did even after her mum begged her badly to go back.

"I can take the GED," she said and said nothing further. She visited the hospital almost everyday to see her but they said few words too.

"You don't need to work Ximena, I have money for my treatment and your college," She said trying to convince her everyday.

"I didn't fit in anyway, so I will just go to college straight up," she replied everytime . "Part-time jobs are to keep to sanity."

And then self confinement settled in.
