Chapter 4 - Morin Family

Rose sighed. The woman's blue eyes had now shifted to the figure of the man behind the wheel. Anthony Brooke had unbuckled his seatbelt and was getting ready to get out of the car. Before actually leaving, the man turned his gaze to Rose who was sitting next to him.

"We have to meet with them if we want you to cancel everything. I won't force you anymore," said Anthony, who was completely resigned at this time. The middle-aged man was already out of the car followed by Rose later. The woman held her father's hand who had intended to enter the restaurant as soon as possible.

"Are you really sure I can cancel it?" asked Rose carefully. Anthony Brooke nodded slowly. Rose could clearly see the disappointment on her father's face but the man had trusted his daughter to do whatever she wanted.

"Of course. The most important thing now is how you feel. I don't want you to have to force everything," answered Anthony. The middle-aged man had now stepped into the restaurant first. Rose sighed again and there was a feeling of guilt that enveloped her this time.

The woman also stepped into the restaurant after a long thought. The woman's blue eyes stared at the special table in the corner of the room that was already occupied by four people and one of them was Rose's father. The restaurant was pretty quiet when the woman finally approached the table and was now in the seat right next to Anthony Brooke.

"We haven't seen each other in a long time," said a woman sitting in front of Rose with very sparkling brown eyes. Anita Morin has now placed the menu book in front of Rose.

"Order something before we talk about this," said Anita again very cheerfully. Rose just nodded and grabbed the menu book that was in front of her and started ordering the food that the woman liked for dinner followed by Anthony who was also ordering.

The atmosphere of silence was created after all members of the current family also stared at each other in silence. Rose had turned restless and was starting to think about how to tell them everything. The Morin family is the closest to the Rose family so far and Anita Morin is the best friend of Rose's late mother in the past.

Dinner was already served on the table and it managed to slightly change the silence that was created between them. "Eat heartily," said Anita very cheerfully. Rose nodded her head but didn't immediately enjoy her dinner. The woman was thinking whether she should keep revealing everything in this kind of atmosphere or not?

Anthony's hand now gently gripped Rose's hand, which was still busy with his own thoughts. The woman looked into her father's eyes as well as the middle-aged man's hand as if trying to calm Rose down. Anthony had brought his lips closer to his daughter and started whispering softly.

"Just say what you really want to say without hesitation. Daddy will be ready to take all the risks," Anthony whispered in Rose's ear. Rose's blue eyes stared at Anthony for a moment before finally nodding her head slowly.

"I want to cancel everything," said Rose with certainty and surprised the three people who were currently in front of her. Anita, who had intended to put a piece of steak into her mouth, suddenly canceled her desire and put the fork in her hand back on the table.

"What do you mean?"

You can clearly see the change in the facial expression of the middle-aged woman sitting in front of Rose. The previously carefree woman suddenly turned into annoyance.

"I'm sorry, Anita. But, my daughter has rejected this matchmaking. And I don't want to force what she doesn't want to do," said Anthony now.

Anita was now sighing in annoyance and her eyes were fixed on Anthony. "Do you think that this matchmaking is a game? Have you forgotten the will your wife left me?" Anita asked very angry now.

"Of course I remember. But..." Anthony held back his sentence and looked at the three people sitting across from him and smiled a bit sarcastically.

"But... I just realized something. You want your son to marry Rose as soon as your company goes bankrupt. I just found out yesterday," said Anthony smiling sweetly. Now the three people felt uncomfortable with Anthony's words just now and their gestures seemed to confirm what the middle-aged man said.

"I also remember your friendship with my late wife. Wasn't your relationship bad enough before? You didn't even come to my wedding because you had to languish in prison after committing fraud on my wife's family," continued Anthony. Now the sound of the spoon being placed on the plate was loud enough to startle Rose.

"Stop discussing my mother's past. If you don't want to have an arranged marriage, I don't mind either. Besides, your daughter isn't that pretty, Mr. Brooke," said Andreas Morin. Rose turned annoyed after hearing the words of the man who was betrothed to her. But then, Anthony's laughter sounded low.

"Then what about you? If my daughter isn't pretty, what about you? Shouldn't you be thanking me for helping your company project?"

The three people in front of Anthony now did not dare to answer. The middle-aged man's sharp eyes stared at the people in front of him one by one. "I think you two agreed to cancel all this. I will also withdraw all my money," said Anthony decided.

"You think you can easily undo everything?!"

Anita had now grabbed her steak knife and prepared to throw it at Anthony Brooke but the man quickly dodged. Anthony has now contacted someone there and given a sign. After that three bodyguards had stepped into the restaurant and dragged the three out.

"Dad are you all right?" asked Rose turning worried after the sudden attack just now. Anthony nodded slowly and smiled sweetly now. The man touched Rose's shoulder and gave her a sweet smile.

"Thank you for rejecting this matchmaking. Actually, father has been looking for a month about the Morin family. And father was shocked to learn that they fell into poverty and are now slaves to a mafia and are planning to kill father if you marry their son," said Anthony. Rose was now hugging her father very gently and crying.

"Thank you for saving me," said Rose very gently as she tightened her arms on Anthony.

"I also thank you that you refused so vehemently. If I let it, you could be killed later."

Rose let go of her embrace and immediately tried to wipe the tears that were still coming out of her eyes. "Go to the toilet to wash your face. I'll be waiting in the car after you've calmed down," Anthony said casually. Rose had nodded slowly and got up from the chair she was sitting in. Her steps towards the toilet this time.

The blue-eyed woman was now looking at herself in the mirror and starting to stop crying. "Thank God everything went smoothly," said Rose with a very relieved feeling that the woman was able to cancel the arranged marriage. The smile on Rose's lips was perfect now. L When the woman intended to leave immediately, her steps suddenly stopped and her blue eyes widened perfectly at what was in front of her.

"You.."
