Chereads / Forced To Love My Boss / Chapter 5 - Andre's Gift

Chapter 5 - Andre's Gift

Andre had this shower with his thoughts in turmoil. He knew better than to approach Layla, but he couldn't let the matter go.

After all, he was part of the reason why a young lady like her had gotten into a car accident. He felt that he should still make a call and ask.

Once he confirmed that she was fine and her body had recovered, he would never contact her again!

Actually, Andre knew very well what he really wanted inside his heart, but he needed such an excuse.

After making up his mind, Andre didn't even take the time to wipe the water droplets off his body. He casually wrapped himself in a towel, came out to pick up the phone, and called the hospital.

"Hello, I would like to ask how Miss Layla, who was admitted today, is doing?"

Coincidentally, the person who answered the phone was that nurse who had wanted Andre's contact details back then.

As Andre had left a deep impression on her, the nurse immediately realized who was calling when she heard that magnetic voice on the other end of the line.

"Ah, you're that handsome guy who sent Miss Layla to the hospital today, right? And even left a check."

Andre didn't want to have anything to do with this nurse, but in order to get information about Layla, he could only give a cold grunt as a reply.

The nurse on the other side started to report Layla's situation to Andre as if she was fired up from being injected with chicken blood.

This nurse was too eager to please Andre. She told Andre everything, even about how the examination of Layla's legs showed that they were normal but she couldn't stand up no matter what.

After Andre heard this, he immediately became nervous.

He was also in the hospital that day. Layla's attending physician had told him that she was fine. Just a few minor abrasions.

How could this be?!

After hanging up the phone, the expression on Andre's face became even more solemn.

The image of that young girl brimming with youthfulness suddenly appeared in his mind. Seeing how she was dressed in sports attire, she probably liked exercising a lot.

Thinking of this, Andre felt an indescribable sadness and heartache.

He suddenly felt that he should do something!

Andre's first reaction was to drive over and visit that little girl on the spot. However, he quickly rejected this idea himself.

After thinking about it for a while, Andre finally decided that he would give her a gift. Perhaps this gift wasn't pleasing enough, but it would be especially practical.

After Andre took out his phone and made an order online, he finally heaved a long sigh of relief. Only then did he realize that he had been in a nervous state ever since he ended the call just now.

Andre smiled in self-deprecation. It couldn't be that he had fallen in love with this young lady at first sight, right?!

However, he quickly rejected this ridiculous thought. In terms of age, he was old enough to be her uncle.

Besides, he was a man destined not to have a woman. He should let go of these absurd ideas.

Under the effects of the sedative, Layla slept soundly.

She had a dream. In it, her mother was hugging her young self and sitting in a rocking chair, gently reading to her a wonderful fairy tale from a book.

This type of feeling was very warm and blissful.

Layla slowly opened her eyes, but the first thing that entered her vision was not her mother's kind face, but that lingering skull emitting green light.

The skull was so close to Layla that the green flames were almost touching her skin.

"Ah! Stay away from me! Get lost!"

Layla sobered instantly and cried out in terror. She kept waving her hands around in anger, trying to chase this godforsaken thing away.

Dressed in a well-ironed suit and with his hair combed neatly, the man pouring water beside her suddenly heard Layla's cry of alarm. He quickly strode over and hugged this helpless and frightened girl, comforting her in a soft voice.

Falling into this broad shoulder, feeling this familiar yet foreign warmth, Layla began to calm down gradually.

As her rationality returned, Layla suddenly remembered that her mother had gone overseas for a business trip last week because of work. She probably hadn't rushed back yet.

Layla lifted her head to look at the man hugging her. The grievance in her heart was suddenly magnified infinitely, and she started to wail aloud.
