"Who are you three and why are you here?" Melvin asked, crouching down into a fighting stance incase these people were hostile.
"Well you see..."
_____ A few hours earlier
Taking in his surroundings Larry noticed the smell of blooming flowers all around and the sound of rushing water from the waterfall only a few meters away.
"By the way, where are we?" He asked, while putting the claw back inside his pocket.
"I'm glad you asked Larry, this is the only place safe enough for our families to use our powers." Oscar said, using his thumb to gesture towards Jane behind himself.
"Yeah, I get that, but where are we exactly?" He asked, being more concise with his words.
"Well, the thing is, we don't actually know where it is we have only ever been warped here by our parents. Who then warp us back after a few hours." Oscar said, smiling sheepishly while scratching the back of his head.
"Well if you don't know where we are can't you just warp us back to a place you do know?" Larry asked, hoping that he wasn't the only one thinking this.
"Well here's the thing, we would if we could, but we can't we pushed ourselves to hard when we were lookin for you and then we pushed even harder going to someplace we've only ever seen before." Oscar said, stepping back to avoid the ensuing outburst.
"You did what?!?! You couldn't have chosen someplace you knew or even someplace closer to the city?!" Larry screamed, raging about as he shouted out in anger.
"Hey it was a snap decision, and we've spent more time here than in the city." Oscar said, trying to reason with the irate Larry.
*Huff* Larry sighed slumping over in defeat, knowing it was no use beating a dead horse.
"Well, then is there at least a path that we can take or a trail we can follow to get off this hill?" Larry asked, clinging to his last ditch effort to hope.
"I mean there is a path, but I wouldn't recommend it, because this forrest is filled with strong monsters." Oscar said.
Trying to dissuade Larry from his suicidal idea of trekking through the forest. However his efforts were in vain. As soon as Larry had heard that he could not only get off of this hill but fight too. He started sprinting from one side of the hill top to the other looking for the path.
"Ah ha, found it, let's go we should be able to find some one from the MCG out here if it really is filled with strong monsters." Larry said, practically radiating light from his bright smile.
'I should have just told him that there wasn't anything around here,' Oscar thought regretting his decision to fan the flame of hope Larry still had burning within.
"Hurry up I'm pretty sure I can see smoke rising up in the distance, maybe someone made a camp." Larry shouted, yelling out behind himself to the other two.
"Larry the sun just set and that's miles out, it'll take us a few hours to get out to that camp, they may even leave before we get there." Oscar said, hoping Larry would give up on his idea of being rescued.
However Oscar was only wrong on one front, Larry did in fact want to get to that camp but not to be rescued, but to help them subdue some really powerful monsters and make a name for himself, and make some gear out of the remains as well.
After walking around for what felt like an eternity the group was suddenly assaulted by a loud screech that had immobilized them through the sheer fear they had felt at that moment. But for a certain member of the group a large smile could be seen plastered across their face.
Now no longer frozen in fear the group had begun to sprint with all their might in the direction the loud screech had originated from. However when they had arrived all they had seen was a colossal monster lying dead.
_____
"And then we seen you standing here." Larry said, finishing the retelling of the three's short lived adventure.
"Well, if it's directions you need I guess you can come with me to talk with my 'mast... I mean 'uncle'." Melvin said.
"Oh, so that smoke was from the camp you guys had set." Larry said.
Puffing his chest feeling proud of his discovery. The other two had face palmed at his idiotic gesture. to which Melvin replied with a single word. "Yes."
Suddenly though, Melvin wasn't feeling the best and he fell over shaking. Unable to tell what was wrong the other three did what they thought was best. They picked him up and ran him two his 'uncle' as Melvin called him.
When they arrived at the camp they seen an older man sitting by an open fire drinking tea. However when he seen Melvin he instantly shot straight up and with astonishing speed had zoomed over to the others.
"What has happened and who are you three?" The mysterious old man had asked them.
"We-- *Slap*
"We don't know, we were talking to him and he just suddenly collapsed." Oscar said, throwing his hand over the long winded Larry's mouth.
"Was there a dead beast by any chance?" He asked, calmly observing Melvin's condition.
"There was, but how did you know that... Oh my gosh what's happening to him?"
Asked the usually silent Jane. This had almost shocked Larry more than the thick black scale looking substance growing on Melvin's skin.
"Please retrieve the core from that monster for me. I will explain everything afterwards, now please go get the core."
The mysterious older man had pleaded.
