Looking around, nothing that was around looked remotely familiar. All of the trees around weren't the ones that were growing in the greenhouse.
Rubbing her temples Lydia sood from the ground and realized that the reason everything seemed different from her home was because she wasn't at home, she was actually in the forest.
'How did I get here, I can't remember anything from yesterday,' Lydia thought. She was internally starting to panic, but after that moment she heard a noise coming from the distance.
'No, I can't be seen put here, I need to hide or find a way back home,' she thought. Slowly sneaking away she heard heard the familiar voice of her friend in the distance.
Along with that voice she heard a few other recognizable voices she heard recently and one voice she hadn't ever heard before, which made her feel slightly uneasy.
As the sounds of their voices got closer the more afraid Lydia was of being seen. However she couldn't understand why, as far as she could remember she hadn't done anything noteworthy.
"Well all I'm saying is it's suspicious that Director Wallen sent us to investigate you and your house just so happens to be ransacked." Larry said, walking beside Melvin trying to convince him something was up.
"Yes, but other than to frame you which clearly would have worked if he would have known about the other two with you, what motive could he possibly have?" Melvin asked, stopping to look Larry in the eyes as he waited for a response.
"I don't know, but you seen the proof that we weren't the one's who wrecked your house." He said, patting his pocket.
"Whatever, let's just get the three of you home, uncle and I need to resume my training." Melvin said, rolling his eyes and walking away from Larry.
"Sheesh you don't have to be a jerk about it." Larry grumbled, trudging after Melvin.
"Those two don't get along at all." Jane said, being uncharacteristically chatty.
"I believe it is quite the opposite my dear, those two are more like each other then they would care to admit." Grimm said, pointing out how similar there personalities are.
Following the group Lydia noticed that the unfamiliar voice she heard came from the girl Oscar had introduced as Jane. Oscar on the other hand didn't seem to keen on keeping a conversation with anyone. Granted there were only five of them so one of them was bound to not have a conversation buddy.
"So how much farther is the city, I'm uncomfortable with being the only one here not having a proper conversation." Oscar said, glaring at the others, excluding Jane of course.
"Listen pal if you don't like it why don't you just use your power and warp back home already." Melvin said, turning around to scald the unruly traveling member.
"Oh trust me I would but Jane and I still haven't fully recovered and it would be very unsafe for us to try to warp right now." Oscar retorted, with contempt toward Melvin in his voice.
Lydia couldn't stand the bickering anymore and shouted at them while inadvertently blowing her cover, "Will you two please get your heads screwed on right so we can all get home!"
"Lydia since when did you get here?" Melvin asked, sprinting over to her.
Seeing her ripped clothes he could guess that she had been out here quite a while or had been I a big scuffle. At that moment Lydia noticed how badly her clothes had been ripped up and blushed really hard.
"Don't come any closer." She said, holding her hands out infront of herself to stop him from getting any closer and also to shield her appearance.
"Wait right here I have extra clothes in my bag." Melvin said, gesturing her to stay in place while he ran to get his bag.
A few seconds later he was standing infront of her again with the clothes from his bag.
"Thanks, now could you all please look away while I get changed?" She asked.
"But can't you just speed change like you normally do?" Melvin asked, turning his head to the side very confused.
"I don't want any of you staring at me while I'm changing is that okay with you?" She asked him in a stern tone.
Which got a few snickers from Larry and Oscar. To which Jane slapped Oscar in the back of the head and Grimm shook his head at.
"Okay, will do, everyone look away for a second." Melvin said, turning around and much to his suprise everyone actually listened to him.
It didn't take long for Lydia to change clothes and say her thanks to Melvin. With that the group was on their way and talking again. This time however Melvin was talking to Lydia and Larry was talking to Oscar.
A few hours later and they were at the gate of the wall that surrounded the settlement which housed the city. Along with all the inhabitants and businesses that came along with such things.
After a short check at the opening the group was permitted to enter the grounds.
"So this is where we part ways huh? Well it's been fun but let's not make this a recurring thing kay?" Larry said sarcastically, looking at the others in the group before he started to walk in the direction of his home.
"Well I guess Jane and I should head off too." Oscar said, walking away with Jane right behind him.
"That just leaves us." Melvin said, looking at Grimm and Lydia.
"I'll head home and fix the place up, you should not make a lady walk home on her own this late at night, well I should say this early in the morning." Grimm said, heading off to Melvins house.
"Okay then, so I guess I'm gonna walk you home." Melvin said, holding out his elbow gesturing for Lydia to take his arm.
"I guess so." She replied, taking his arm.
Their walk was a short but pleasant one with little conversation as they took in the sight of the lights in the buildings. Wondering just how long the people had been there and when or if they would ever leave.
"Well that was a lovely walk, we should definitely do that more often." Lydia said, stopping at her front door and turning around.
"It definitely was." Melvin agreed, sliding his hand into hers.
"Ow." She winced, yanking her hand from his.
"What's wrong?" Melvin asked, sneaking a glance to see if his nails were sharpened.
"I didn't want to say anything but I think I broke a nail and when you did that it hurt, any way I guess I should go." She said, opening the door and walking in.
"She broke her nail? But they're not even that long." Melvin said, talking to himself as he walked home.
