In a police station, three people were taking statements before a couple of officers.
"So you are family?" asked the agent for the third time.
"Yes, that's how it is. They are my parents" affirmed the young man while he avoided maintaining eye contact with the other two.
Despite repeated responses from the three people, the agents still had doubts about their answers. This was not something that happened every day but after all this case was quite unusual.
At 12:08 a.m. a couple of a middle-aged man and woman arrived at an apartment block. When they arrived, the male began pounding on the door while he yelled the tenant's name. Despite not having received a response for more than ten minutes, the couple showed no signs of intending to leave.
Concerned about the noise, the neighbors watched what was happening, being careful not to be noticed by the two people when suddenly the male began to try to open the door without the key. Before the astonished gaze of the neighbors, the man managed ... to tear off the doorknob. When the neighbors saw this, thinking that the couple were thieves, they locked themselves in their houses and called the police.
Once inside the house, noises began to be heard and shortly after screams. When the police arrived, they saw how the man was attacking the person who resided there.
The police evidently mistook the couple for a pair of thieves and they were arrested.
"Do you have any identification that can prove it" asked the policeman.
After two hours and twenty minutes at the police station confirming their identities the three were free to leave.
Once outside the station, the woman went to a restaurant without waiting for the other two. Seeing this father and son looked into each other's eyes with a hint of concern.
...
In a family restaurant, a woman was quietly sipping tea while she was sitting opposite two men who had their heads bowed.
"Honey, I-"
"Shut up," the woman said, cutting off her husband before she could say anything else.
Silence reigned over the table.
After a few minutes the woman lowered her cup and looked at the two people in front of her.
"Do you know the shame you have put me through?" she asked. Although the two of them had experienced this situation few times in their lives, they knew that talking now was a bad idea.
"Not only have you made me unable to show my face again in Allan's apartment but you have also taken me to the police station as if I were a criminal," she said in a cold tone.
"We´re sorr-" Started Allan´s father only to be cut again.
"Both of you? You mean yourself! " Allan's mother said "I warned you repeatedly that this was a bad idea, but did you listen to me? No, as always "
Seeing that his mother's anger was directed at his father, Allan breathed a sigh of relief.
Allan's mother seemed like she took notice of her because she the next moment she said:
"Don't think you got away young man. I'll deal with your father later, at this time it's your turn"Allan's mother said, causing his brain freeze for a moment.
The reason they came here in the first place was to find out why Allan was going to change his fit to virtual classes without consulting them first, it is inevitable that Allan will have to explain it.
"Allan, did you change your classes to virtual classes?" asked his mother.
"..Yes" Allan said after a little pause. This matter is indisputable, there is no reason to deny it.
"Why?" she said she finally.
...
It was night and two people were in a half-empty subway car back in the countryside.
"Are you sure about this?" asked her husband.
"It is his life, we have no right to interfere in his dreams, the only thing we can do is help him when he needs it" said Allan's mother.
"I understand that, but a video game? Do you really think it will take him somewhere?" said her husband resigned to respect the decision of her son.
"I know what you're thinking Harold" said Allan's mother "But our son is already an age, how long are we going to continue treating him like a child?"
"But ..." began Harold, Allan's father, no matter where he looked at it, Allan's decision would lead him nowhere.
"Maybe you're right, maybe it's a mistake but when was the last time Allan made such a decision?" Allan's mother asked.
Her husband did not speak anymore.
Since he was a child Allan has always had a very stable mindset. He didn't smoke, he didn't take drugs, he didn't gamble, he didn't date troublesome people. He didn't worry his parents at all.
Even the decisions he made on his own were decisions that his parents agreed with, it was not that Allan made those decisions to please his parents but that all the important decisions in his life were made based on logical arguments that would give him more chances of living a good life in the future.
No matter what it was, Allan never took risks or made decisions that would negatively affect him in the future. And while that reassured his parents that Allan was a responsible person it always made them feel that Allan was not living a fundamental part that every person should experience.
"Let's respect his decision. Also, even if you fail the consequences are not so serious, it is better that you experience this now than in the future" Allan's mother finally said.
"If you say so," her husband finally said.
"Still I wonder what that video game has to make Allan behave that way" Harold said as he stretched his arms.
"I don't know, but we'll find out soon," Allan's mother said.
"Hey? How?" said her husband, surprised.
"Easy. We're going to play too" said Allan's mother.
"WHAT?! SUSAN, ARE YOU GOING MAD?" shouted her husband after hearing the scandalous words that came out of his wife's mouth.
"If we want to understand why Allan has made that decision we have to get involved" said Allan's mother as she looked her husband in the eye. "We are going to do it. Right? "
"Right, right," Harold said as he sweated a little.
But with what money? I heard that those things are not cheap" asked her husband as he drank a beer to calm himself down.
"Obviously with yours"
Pfff
"W-W-What? I don't know what you are talking about" said her husband as he tried to escape from her.
"Don't think I don't know that he has a secret savings. Did you really think that you could get rid of making me suffer such shame in front of so many people? " Susan said as she stared at her husband impassively of hers as the train headed slowly but inevitably back home.
