Chapter 8 - Cultivation Library

The following morning, since it was Sunday, and as both were taking a break so after informing Wang Zhong, Wang Lei's father about their departure— that they were heading to the library, they left shortly after.

Of course, they informed Wang Zhong about Shenyan's situation, but he also had no idea about what was going on with him, so he also suggested consulting some experts about his situation, that is why after hearing Wang Lei's suggestion, he immediately agreed with him thinking it was a good idea.

"You brats better get back home before the sun sets— it is dangerous to walk around at night in this neighborhood." Wang Zhong spoke with concern.

"Okay, father, we will come right away after we deal with Shenyan's situation, no need to worry." Wang Lei assured his father.

"Let's go."

Outside, there were many people walking around and about everywhere, as the town was bustling with people. The name of this city was [Frost Emperor City], just as the name implies, it was named after a [Spirit Emperor] who later establish the Leng family, the rulers of this country. It was said that the Leng family's ancestor used to part of one of the original aristocratic families— Shui Family.

Nobody knows why they split from them and establish their own country at this section of the continent. In the north side is where all the commoners reside, that is where Shenyan and the others are currently.

Throughout history, technology has improved so much with the innovation of artifacts and Spirit Treasure creation. Now, the buildings were not made of clay like they were back in the day but using specially crafted wood and bricks to raise buildings.

The city's markets also stopped using tables to sell their goods and used counters that extend from their store buildings to arrange their products and items— everyone uses this method to sells their products nowadays.

They walked for about two hours, before reaching the center of North City and arrived at their destination. It was tall building with six-floors, the sign above the door says— [Cultivation Manual Pavilion]. Shenyan was surprised by the grand look of the building momentarily; as this was his first time coming here, he had no idea about the appearance of the building.

Wang Lei smile slightly as he noticed the look on his face as he too felt this way when his father brought him here for the first time.

After admiring the building for a moment, both proceeded to head in after going through the guard stationed at both sides of the door— they both were exuding a suppressing aura around them. Shenyan noticed this and thought about how that young girl who also had such an aura around her, but it seems to pale in comparison to these two guards' aura.

Inside the building, as they walked in, they saw a reception desk where they had to sign in before they proceeded to head to where the books were located, which was right behind the reception desk. Shenyan followed Wang Lei as he was not familiar with this place.

A while later, they were standing in front of bookshelves which had many books on them— cultivation manuals and some history books. Shenyan was not interested in the history books since after flipping through them, he noticed it was the same as what he had been taught when he was young, so he drew his attention towards the cultivation manuals.

After flipping through some books that tells you how regulate spirit energy in your body, although Shenyan already knew about this as he already tried this the day before, he still sat down and recited the cultivation mantra entering meditative state and absorbing the spirit energy into his body.

When Wang Lei saw this, he was shocked that he really comprehended the technique to such as a degree and he began to hope that Shenyan succeed. A while after observing on the side, he notices Shenyan open his eyes with dispirited look on his face.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

"It still isn't working." Shenyan replied with a bitter smile on his face as he shook his head.

"How is that possible?! I saw clearly with my own eyes that the spirit energy entered your body, so what what's going on?!" Wang Lei exclaimed in a low voice since they were in the library.

"Even if you ask me that—" Shenyan said with bitter smile on his face since he had no idea either what is going on with his body and where the spirit energy is going.

"This doesn't make sense." Wang Lei said with a pondering look on his face.

After a while Shenyan said, "Well, let's continue looking through the remaining books."

Thus the two of them look through many cultivation manuals to see if they can find a solution but alas, after spending couple hours of reading through many books related to energy circulation they could not find a solution to the problem.

And they eventually decided to ask an elder about the situation but he appeared to have to no clue about what was going on either, only suggesting that Shenyan tries a better cultivation method and perhaps he might be able to regulate spirit energy into his Spirit core.

Other than that, their journey this time was fruitless, so they decided to look around at the basic combat techniques for various elemental affinities such as— Water shield technique, Fire Fist technique, Earth Shake technique and Wind Movement technique and so on.

Of course, there were weapon techniques, but they were in the minority.

In this continent, or perhaps in this world not many people use weapons as they are considered rudimentary unlike Spells which requires complex understanding of the elements that made up this world and manipulating them using spirit energy and at the same time, the power that elemental techniques unleashed is far greater and destruction than what a measly sword or sword techniques can inflict on someone.

The combat techniques provided by this library are free since these are basic techniques, but one need to have the specific element affinity before they can use such techniques— both Wang Lei and Shenyan had not awoken their elemental affinity yet so they cannot learn them anyway.

As for the weapon techniques no cares about them anyway as the aristocrats think that only barbarians use those techniques. After looking at the technique manuals for a while, they both left since they wanted to head home before the sun sets.
