Chapter 36 - CHAPTER 36: Purge

I shifted my furious gaze at the incoming arrow and clasped it with my hand.

The draugr crouched as it pulled out another arrow, getting ready to pull the string I gyrated as well as I used all my force throwing back the arrow.

It dropped to it's knees as the arrow impaled it in the head. Seconds later another unlucky archer appeared, purple rays enveloped the draugr's body, at the same time Aeverie lifted her fingers with swift motion and the creature was hurled up, the hanging rock spike in the ceiling pierced it's chest.

We advanced forward, the whole place was illustrated by a raw of lanterns on the wall.

"I think they are traps inside."

"Oh well, let's find out." I replied while shrugging.

"Wait!"

she called out late as I had already walked inside the long stone made corridor, Intense flames instantly bursted from the holes on the wall incinerating everything inside.

Layla gasped as she witnessed flames spreading throughout the hallway covering Kean at the process.

I moved my foot away from the dark stone tile and the flames stopped.

"Shower of flames, I like it." I gave them a half smile.

Awakening my abilities gave me quite the resistance from fire.

"You have made him this reckless." Layla complained.

"I made him stronger and aware of the real dangers in this world. He knows when to be reckless and when to be serious." Fodel answered.

"Avoid stepping on the black tiles." I advised as we marched inside the hallway. Water flowing could be heard as we descended down using some kind of steps.

The steps ended as we entered another part of this place, it was a narrow passage, I dragged my feet in the ankle level water which was flowing on the ground.

We paced on the narrow passage along with the water pressure which kept increasing, I felt as if the whole place was going to collapse due to the water which leaked from the cracks on the walls.

"Looks like we reached a dead end." Aeverie gazed everywhere as she pondered.

I used a skill which came handy in these kind of situations. 'Analyze.' My gaze cruised all the places as I analyzed the surroundings.

"I think they is some sort of object in that hole on the wall where the water is flowing from." The system informed.

I pushed my hand inside the huge hole, ignoring the water pressure which was forcefully trying to push my hand, I kept roaming inside until my fingers caressed a ring. Instantly pulling it, the walls started grumbling and on my right side a semi circular stone made door was revealed. It rose up revealing a passage with steps that led down.

"How did you know how to open it?" Aeverie observed.

Shrugging I said. "After journeying in this apocalyptic world I lent to always expect the unexpected."

Fodel was also impressed by his discovery as he thought that Kean will become deadly in the future due to his strength and that he was quite smart.

"Always expect the unexpected, you said that once, I guess you finally achieved something. The invention of a useful qoute" Layla teased.

I chuckled. "I will print that qoute along with my name on your shirt."

We continued chit chatting as we descended down the stairs. When we reached another entrance we where introduced to a hall like area, the place was crowded with enemies. they were steps attached along the walls of the circular place. The stone pillars to transport into another dimension was in the middle.

We had to descended using the steps, fight some draugrs which strolled along the way when we reach down that's when the real battle begins.

Layla stayed with Fodel as usually and we where left to purge the damn creatures.

We crouched as we analyzed the place from the bird's view. Draugrs paraded along the stairs and the rest where on the ground, I was sure more of them where lurking somewhere as I noticed that they where two passages opposing each other.

"Let's use stealth for now, it will help us get to the ground faster." Aeverie advised.

"Yah We wouldn't want enemies overwhelming us on the stairs, but they is only one problem. My current spells ain't stealthy and I don't have a weapon."

"It's okay I will get rid of them, you just follow behind and save your energy for the last battle."

Kean and Aeverie Slowly walked descending down the stairs, when they spotted two draugrs Aeverie the one leading immediately used devouring shadows.

Where ever there was no light, shadows expanded enveloping the draugrs and absorbed them. I watched in awe as the draugrs submerged inside the shadows without a trace.

My heart rate changed as I sensed darkness emitting from the daggers materialising in both her hands.

Aeverie held the black dual daggers that glinted purple at the cutting adge and the hilt. Her gaze lingered on the weapons with a face full of wryly as she recalled something from her past.

Kean held her hand before she could put the daggers back, he whisperd. "You must embrace your power."

She was hesitant because of the fear that she might turn for the worst, but the encouraging words of the only person that mattered in her life made her let all strings loose.

Aeverie pulled out a beautiful silver necklace with a flower design and a small blue gem inside it.

She put the necklace on me herself.

"I planned to give you this sooner, sorry I forgot."

'Mana increased from 45 to 75.' The system notified.

"It's very gorgeous, and it increased my mana by a huge margin, I should thank you properly later." I whisperd back

She blossomed into a smile.

"You know the distance left from here to the floor is less than five metres, I think we should-

"Purge." I finished up before she said jump.

With the help of Aeverie's telekinesis we gracefully landed on the floor and attracted some draugr at the process.

This place was like an arena and we were the centre of attraction against the deadly draugr's that crowded everywhere.

Aeverie sprinted forward, the sexy black outfit she wore made her more agile without restraints, It was also quite showy. Five draugr's carrying swords and and shield surrounded her. The one in the middle took a stance and dashed forward, the sword slashed through her, two daggers impaled the draugr's back from behind, as Aeverie pulled back the daggers the other one had already advanced but she sliced it's head clean off with such speed that even the human eye couldn't keep up with her. She fooled the rest of the draugr with her illusion magic where she will be facing them then the next moment she appears from behind or the side to brutally put them out of their misery with her daggers.

She jolted into the air, when she landed, A black figure electrically passed near eleven draugr's in an instant, what left was a sudden death as some draugr's where sliced from the torso area leaving the other half thrown somewhere while some were missing heads and many limbs. What made this scene thrilling was that the draugrs where scattered in different places.

This was one of her skills 'Wicked slash.'

The corner of her lips turned up along with her eyes that flicked in a purple colour, her daggers violently emitted purple flames.

Draugrs surrounded him and attacked at the same time, Kean's brows knitted together as he got serious.

Flames enveloped around Kean and extended stretching for a three metre radius incinerating all of the creature around him, what followed was their agonising screaming as they fell on the ground, their bones slowly being melted to ashes by the fire.

He marched out of the flames without a scratch and smirked after using the spell wild fire, it is perfect for these situations.

He lifted both his hands and two huge fire balls manifested in the air and flew at different directions, the balls of flames exploded blasting two groups of draugrs, flames scattered in all directions.
