"It doesn't change anything anyway," replied Li Fei and a while later, their food was brought.
"I wish to give birth to a beautiful girl just like Lian," spoke Liling. "Oh? I want a boy," said Jing Yue. "Why do you want a boy?" she asked. "To look like me. I want a mini version of myself," he said and the rest chuckled.
"I want a girl. I want to be her best friend so that she tells me everything. When she gets her first boyfriend- " "Boyfriend?!" asked Jin Liwei. "Yes a boyfriend. Most girls start dating when they reach their teens," she said. "My daughter won't have a boyfriend," deadpanned Jin Liwei.
"Why's that?" asked Li Fei. "A boyfriend for what?" he asked frowning. "I will kill any boy that messes with my daughter," said Jing Yue.
"It is normal for a girl to get a boyfriend," Li Fei said.
"Not my daughter. I don't believe there's someone good enough for her. I will give her everything she wants," insisted Jin Liwei.
"You're literally going to control their lives," said Liling. "It's not controlling. It's simply wanting what's best for them," stated Jing Yue.
When they were done with eating the desserts, they started preparing to leave when Liling's eyes looked around the place and she caught sight of a familiar person then tapped on Li Fei. "Isn't the other one Yan Jianyu?" she asked pointing in the direction. "Yes it's him and... Suyin," Li Fei mentioned. As they were still looking at them, Suyin's eyes moved to look in the same direction and her eyes widened when she saw Li Fei.
"Jianyu, Li Fei is sitting over there," she told him and he turned to see the four people at the table. "It will be rude if we don't say hi," he said after a while.
Walking towards the table, Jianyu smiled at them and said," I didn't expect to find here but nonetheless, I'm glad to see you."
The women smiled and Li Fei said," We too. I thought you were in Shenzhen. Hi Suyin."
She smiled and waved back at her and Jianyu said," We came only a week ago and we are going back in two days. I thought you too were in Shanghai." "We came to celebrate our anniversary," Jin Liwei replied. "That is great," he replied before looking at Suyin and said," Suyin, this is Mr Jing Yue and his wife, Jing Liling. Mr Jin Liwei and his wife who you know too well, Li Fei." "Jin Fei," Jin Liwei corrected. "Yes. And, this is my girlfriend Suyin," he completed. "It is good to see that you finally got someone," spoke Jin Liwei.
"I'm so happy for the both of you. So you came to dine?" asked Li Fei. "Yes," replied Suyin. "That is great. You would have joined us but we are leaving," she said. "It's alright we will go ahead. Please excuse us," said Jianyu and they left.
"We should also leave," said Jing Yue getting up and the rest followed suit.
"Did you suspect anything going on between the two?" Liling asked Li Fei as they walked.
"I don't think anything was going on by then. What I knew was that Suyin had feelings for him," she said.
"I'm glad he found someone," said Liling. "I'm more than glad. Jianyu is a nice man."
"Did seeing her affect you?" Suyin asked when they took their seats. "No," he replied. "I don't believe you," she said. "Uh, I admit I loved Li Fei - " "Jin Fei," she corrected him.
"Yes, Jin Fei but I learned to stop. She is a married woman now with a family and I also have my life. I don't see any reason why you should worry about that," he said. "It's not about worrying. It's the truth," she said. "The truth and reality is that you're my girlfriend," he told her. "Your fiancee," she reminded him.
"Yes my fiancee. Let's focus on celebrating our engagement then," he said.
Four months later...
Li Fei had gone back to her work and her business was growing tremendously with every passing day. Liling too continued working at the restaurant.
She had stopped getting involved physically at work and all she did was supervising the staff.
Looking at her four months baby bump, she realized that her belly was growing so big. They had scheduled an appointment with their doctor over the weekend with Jing Yue where they were going to check the baby's gender and the progress. She sat in her office and leaned against the chair then looked at her swollen legs. She knew that Jing Yue was going to scold her on why she doesn't leave work the moment he sees them. Her hands touched her belly and she wondered when five months would pass such that she gets to meet their baby.
As she was still thinking, she felt a sharp pain below her abdomen and she gasped. A warm discharge followed which didn't seem to stop and she stood up before walking to the bathroom to check herself.
A while later, she left the bathroom hurriedly and she got her phone then called Jing Yue immediately.
"Jing Yue," she called her voice alarmed. "Is there any problem Liling?" he asked.
"I don't know what happened but I'm bleeding," she said in a panic stricken voice. "You're what?!" he exclaimed.
"Bleeding! And it's quite much," she said. "W-what- Where are you?!" he asked. "At work, in my office," she replied. "Stay right there. I'm coming right now," he said. "That will be wastage of time Jing Yue! I will tell the chauffeur to take me to the hospital and we meet there."
"Are you sure?" he asked. "Yes," she said before hanging up. She took a deep breath to calm down. She could feel that she was still bleeding and she was well aware of what that meant. She was so scared of losing her baby. She didn't know if she could be able to take it.
She called her chauffeur and ordered him to prepare the car before leaving her office.
When she reached the hospital, she found that Jing Yue had already called their doctor and she was immediately placed on a stretcher before they rushed her inside.
