Chapter 193 - Chapter 193 For a split second

When she didn't give off any reaction, he understood that she hadn't believed him and he went to get his phone. Standing right in front of her, he called Jing Yue who later picked up. "Jing Yue, enlighten to Ms Li Fei why I suddenly went for her in Beijing on her birthday and the motive behind it."

He put him on speaker such that they could both listen to him. He took a while to say, "It seems like the day is finally here. Uhm...first of all Li Fei, I would like you to know that I personally have no problem with you. He told me of his plans as a friend and as much as I asked him not to proceed with them, he didn't listen to me."

Jin Liwei saw Li Fei's expression turn to nervousness. Jing Yue continued to say," And secondly, none of the things I'm going to tell you have anything to do with Liling and I. My feelings for her have always been sincere and true.

Jin Liwei started planning everything during the time when he freed you from his house. He wasn't satisfied with the way things had ended. You had your life ahead of you, while he remained mourning the death of his dear wife. Until one day he came to me with a plan, one to seduce you into believing that he loves you. This was because he was sure that by the time you left, you had a soft spot for him. As I said before, I told him I didn't like the idea but he went on with it anyway. He convinced you, treated you right and made you believe that he felt the same way and all he's been waiting for is this day. He wanted you to experience how if felt to lose everything. While you were waiting for him yesterday, he was in the arms of the woman he truly loves, Meili. But I assure you that I didn't know of his whereabouts yesterday."

Seeing the tears that were gathering in her eyes, Jin Liwei was now sure that she had believed them.

He hang up the call and asked," Do you need more proof? Do you wish to speak to Meili or the photos will explain more?" He took the risk although Meili didn't know anything and no photos existed.

Although Li Fei had been told all that, a small part of her was still doubting because, just how could he do it so perfectly? How could he fake the look in his eyes? He always looked at her as if she was his whole world. She always felt his heart racing whenever they were together and she knew that certain things couldn't be faked. Unless perhaps, he was a genius and if that was true, she must applaud him.

She raised her glistening eyes and looked at him before asking," You want to tell me that, you have never, ever loved me?" "Not at all," he replied firmly and she felt as though her heart was being squeezed in her chest. "Look me in the eye Jin Liwei and tell- " "It is Mr Jin Liwei, from now on wards," he interrupted and looked straight into her eyes.

If Li Fei had been doubting, the moment she looked into his eyes, she became certain that he had never loved her. Gone was the love and warmth in his eyes which were replaced with coldness and disgust as he looked at her. When realisation hit her, all the tears she had been concealing flowed down like a stream. She felt as if her heart was being pricked by a thousand needless at this particular point.

Her body started trembling and her legs became weak making her fall down on the ground as she sobbed. She hadn't meant to cry in front of him but she couldn't help it. The pain was so unbearable that she found difficulty in breathing.

How could he be so heartless? She wished he had left her in prison and let her serve her seven year sentence. It was better than seeing this day and indeed as he had said it, it was painful.

But on the other hand, she blamed herself for being stupid. How could she ever think that someone whose wife she had killed, would ever love her. For that therefore, she thought she deserved it.

Unable to take the sight, Jin Liwei turned his back so that he couldn't be able to look at her devastated state but the sound of her sobs was tearing him apart.

A long while later, her sobs quieted down and she placed her hands on the floor attempting to get up. She wasn't planning on staying here and humiliate herself in front of this man who hated her so much.

On getting up, she staggered abit because of the dizziness and later, she stabilized herself. "I must applaud you for being a genius. You did it so perfectly. And I want to congratulate you for your success," her voice chocked as fresh tears flowed down her cheeks," You achieved your goal indeed. No words on earth can explain my situation. I'm beyond hurt, destroyed, reduced to nothing. And indeed, if I was asked, I would choose to be dead than to live to see this day. But I want to ask you a question though." "Ask," he spoke. "Have your parents been aware of this perfect plan?" she asked. "No. They have no idea," he replied. "And Meili?" she asked. "She's Ms Lee Meili for you and of course, my woman knew everything," he said and she nodded as endless tears flowed.

"Is there anything else you would like to do with me?" she asked. "It ends here. I don't want to ever cross paths with you again," he said and another set of tears rolled down her cheeks.

Her shaking legs began moving towards the door.

She touched the door knob to open it and she paused. She had just one last question she wanted to ask and she wondered if doing it will be crossing her line. She turned around and decided to ask because she knew that she would never live in peace if she didn't find out.

Looking at his back, she said," Jin- Mr Jin Liwei."

"Speak," she heard him instruct. "Through all the time we spent together, did you ever, even for a split second, love me?"

He closed his eyes and a tear rolled down his cheek. He loved her so much that he wanted to tell her that everything is a lie but he couldn't. She deserved someone who would never hurt her, and he wasn't that person.

"No. Not even for a split second. I don't want to see you in my house for any second longer," she heard him say.
