Liling gave her a sad look as if asking her to reconsider her decision. "Why do you want to undergo abortion? Of course if you don't mind," the doctor decided to ask. "Because....I can't give this baby a complete family," she replied with due honesty. "I understand but you can give birth and give up the baby for adoption," she said. Li Fei immediately shook her head and said," I can't do that. I prefer not to give birth to the baby at all." "Okay. Since you insist then let's proceed. With abortion comes effects like excessive bleeding, dizziness, nauseousness and drowsiness. You will feel a little pain for about two days after the surgery," she explained.
"Uhm...what about the risks of failing to get pregnant again and...death?" it was Liling who asked this time. "I can guarantee you that with me, such cases are rare almost impossible. I can give you a list of the people I've worked on for recommendation. I'm skilled in what I do," she assured them. "Okay then. How soon can we perform the surgery?" asked Li Fei and Liling pursed her lips. She thought that she would change her mind but it seemed like she had reached a conclusion. "Let me check and see," said the doctor before looking in her notebook to check her schedule and later, she said," We can schedule it over the weekend. It's the soonest I will be free."
Li Fei then remembered that she was going to go with Jin Liwei to his parents' house and she said," This weekend won't be possible. What of any other day?" "It will be Friday after next week then," said the doctor. Li Fei thought for a moment on how she was going to do it because it was going to be a work day.
"Okay, doctor. That's fine," she said. She decided that she will think of what to do later. "I will contact you on Thursday to remind you of the appointment," said the doctor. She listed the types of foods Li Fei should eat in the meantime.
"Are you sure you're going to go on with that procedure?" asked Liling the moment they stepped outside the office. "Yes," she answered determinedly.
"Okay," was all she could say. Going back home through the back gate, she came out at the front and the chauffeur drove her back to the house.
...
The weekend finally reached and Jin Liwei descended the stairs from his room. Finding Yin Chen on the way, he asked her to tell Li Fei that he was waiting for her.
Li Fei was in the mirror staring at herself for one more time to make sure that nothing was strange about her. She looked her belly to make sure that it was still flat when Yin Chen came in to inform her that the Young Master was waiting outside. She immediately picked her handbag and phone before hurriedly leaving the room.
Jin Liwei saw her coming. She was dressed in a black jumpsuit with black heels and her hair was tied in a high ponytail. He wondered if she has always been this good looking or if it was because he saw her in a different light now.
When Li Fei reached the car, she was surprised to see him at the driver's seat and she joined him at the front as sitting behind would be rude. He started the car and they hit the road. She wondered why his parents wanted to see her. Throughout the whole drive, her eyes were fixated outside the window as she looked at the trees that they passed by. She realized that his parents stayed somewhere far and in the city outskirts.
Almost an hour's drive, she noticed that they had entered an estate and stopped in front of a large white gate.
Entering the house, they were led to the living room by the maid and on reaching, she realized that Jin Liwei was nowhere to be seen. The maid who noticed her looking around said," Young Master Jin has left to his bedroom. Please have a seat as I go inform Mr and Ms Jin of your arrival." She sat down as her eyes scanned around the entire sitting room. As she kept looking, she caught sight of family photographs in frames and in them were Mr and Mrs Jin, she saw Jin Liwei when he was about ten years in one standing with a girl who appeared to be younger than him. Was she his sister? She wondered because she had never heard of him having a sister. Not even in the news.
"You're here!" she was startled by a voice and on turning, they were his parents. Li Fei immediately stood up and bowed her head as a sign of respect. "You shouldn't have to do that. Please sit," Senior Jin said and she nodded before sitting. "Where's Jin Liwei?" asked his mother. "I was told that he went to his bedroom," she politely answered them. "Just as always. We're pleased to meet you Li Fei," Senior Jin said.
"The pleasure is mine, Senior Jin," she said with a smile. "You look more pretty than the last time I saw you," it was Mrs Jin who said.
"Thank you, Ms Jin. You look pretty yourself."
Li Fei was wondering why they were being so nice to her. Honestly, she was beginning to become suspicious.
"We are sorry for what happened four years ago. We just hope life at prison wasn't so difficult," Mr Jin could only say. Li Fei felt uncomfortable speaking about that part of her life but she said," Not that bad. Thanks for your concern Mr Jin." Silence came to settle among them and Ms Jin decided to speak," Uhm...Li Fei, we would like to speak something with you. It's about Jin Liwei." With this, she became more attentive and Ms Jin continued," Jin Liwei was about eleven years when we lost our daughter, his baby sister due to a heart disease. He was more affected since he was so close to her. He underwent serious depression which resulted him into becoming distant to everybody." Li Fei felt sorry about him but then she wondered where she could help them from.
