Doctor Shin smiled the moment her phone buzzed and she checked to see that the money had reached her account as promised. She saw no big deal in what she had done after all she was also human who could be easily swayed by money. She was a single mother who had to make ends meet so as to provide her son with the best life. It was okay, she said to herself and resumed her work. She started writing something when she heard a knock before the door was opened and he saw a man come in. "Good afternoon, doctor Shin?" he asked. "Good afternoon. You are?" she asked the man.
"That doesn't matter. I want to know why Ms Li Fei is here. I will pay anything," he said and doctor Shin was surprised. "Wow! Why does everyone seem to be so interested about her?" "Everyone? Who else?" asked the man. "Leave that. Tell me why you want to know," she said and the man didn't say anything else but got out a cheque book. "How much do you want?" he asked looking at her. "If you're willing to sign a Million Yuan, I will tell you," she said as if teasing him but she got surprised when he instantly signed the money and passed her the cheque. "I'm all ears," he said ready to listen. She wondered why he paid this much just for information.
Li Fei slept for almost four hours and when she woke up, she felt like her head would burst. She had an excruciating pain in her head coupled with dizziness. When she winced, Liling quickly stood up to ask her," FeiFei! Where does it hurt?" "My head," she whispered deeply furrowing her eyebrows. "Sorry. Let me give you some water," she said before rushing to get a glass of water and Li Fei drank the whole of it. "Are you feeling better now?" she asked looking at her and Li Fei slowly nodded even though she hadn't gotten any improvement. She forced herself to sit and asked," For how long have I slept? What's the time?" "You slept for nearly four hours and it's close to eight now."
"We have to go. I should arrive home before Ms Yin calls Mr Jin Liwei asking for my whereabouts," she said trying to get off the bed. "Wait, Li Fei! I will call the doctor first," she said and ran to call doctor Shin.
Shortly, Shin arrived and made a check up on her then said," She can go. She will be feeling dizzy, drowsy, nausea, headache and a little pain but it will last for a week. I will recommend some pills for the pain and heavy bleeding." "For how long will it take for her to be completely fine?" asked Liling. "Three weeks or a month," she said and Liling nodded. Slowly, Li Fei dressed back in her clothes and they left the hospital but she looked so weak. "FeiFei, why don't I take you to my house until you're okay?" asked Liling the moment they sat in the cab. "I don't think it's a good idea. It will make him suspect," she said with her eyes closed.
"Who will take care of you in this state?" she asked worry marred on her face. "I will manage, Liling,"she said. As they were still in the car, they found traffic on the road which was caused by an accident that had occurred ahead. They waited for half an hour before the scene was cleared and the cars moved again.
Li Fei was sleeping in the cab and when Liling touched her, she was burning with fever. "FeiFei, you have a fever," she said. "En," she said before adding," It was bound to happen. When are we getting home?" "Soon. Your phone has been buzzing and it seems like Ms Yin is calling you," said Liling. "We have to hurry up," she mumbled with closed eyes.
A while later, it started raining outside. Liling noticed the cab driver park somewhere and she asked," What's the problem sir?" "I'm sorry but my car has gotten a problem. I can't continue from here. I advise you to get another car," he said apologetically. "What do you mean by that? Why didn't you first check your car before coming on the road?" Liling asked angrily. "I'm so sorry miss but mistakes happen," replied the man and Liling got her phone to call for another car.
Since it was raining, it took her almost twenty minutes to get another one and when it reached, Liling woke Li Fei who was first asleep. "FeiFei, another car is here, let's go," she said and she opened her eyes groggily. "What's wrong with this one?" she asked lazily. "It got a problem. But we don't have an umbrella," Liling said and Li Fei opened the door and left the car in the rain going to sit in the other one.
"You didn't have to do that," Liling said the moment she joined her. "It's totally fine. Please sir, drive abit faster," Li Fei told the driver on noticing that it was a quarter past nine.
Having been slightly wet from the rain, she didn't sleep again.
A while later, they reached and parked in front of Jin Liwei's house. By this time, the rain had increased by multiple folds. "FeiFei, you can't walk in this much rain. You already have a fever," Liling was worried. "Don't worry I will be fine. Call me as soon as you reach," she said before opening the door and went towards the gate. By the time she reached the house balcony, she was dripping wet and trembling. Slowly, she walked inside the house but the first thing she saw almost made her heart slip out of her mouth. Jin Liwei was sitting on the couch looking at the door. She didn't expect him to be home today since it wasn't a weekend and much less, sitting here. She felt herself tremble more as her legs stood still. There was an eerie silence in the living room as he intently looked at her.
