Chapter 1 - The end of Shi Yu (1)

It was a warm & sunny day in the capital yet inside the courtroom, the atmosphere was gloomy, cold and solemn.

People exuded various expressions as cameras furiously flashed as the entire city witnessed the fall of the former businesswoman, Shi Yu.

They were also here to witness the great fall out between the capital's former power couple as they tore each other's skin in the court, the husband, as a witness testifying against the wife.

" Mr Xie, I'd like you to show this court of law the person that you saw on that day stabbing miss Luo to death, to confirm that you haven't made a mistake."

Dressed in an orange prison dress and her hands in cold metallic handcuffs, hot tears spilled over the sides of Shi Yu's eyes as she gazed at the cold & dashing man Infront of her. He seemed familiar yet totally unfamiliar at the same time.

Her gaze held complicated emotions.

Confusion, disbelief, pain and helplessness.

Her lips quivered as she eyed the tall figure with pleading eyes that held a tinge of hope.

It was as if he held her fate in his own hands and the next word that would come out of his mouth would either nail her coffin or give her a new life and freedom.

Despite all that he had done to her, she still held a tiny bit of hope that he'd consider all her years of loving him selflessly & their years of being in a loving marriage and save her life.

Even if she was in a dream, she was willing to continue dreaming.

However, the man stood tall at the front, dressed in an exquisite suit that perfectly accentuated his figure. He had a face that looked like it had been sculpted, with eyebrows that were straight and his nose bridge high.

There was a deep look in his unfathomable eyes and he exuded the aura of someone who had a high status.

He stood tall in a cold and aloof manner that sent shivers down the spine.

...

There was an eerie silence in the courtroom.

Xie Ming pursed his lips as his cold eyes fell indifferently on the miserable woman in prison clothes, a woman he had called his wife for 3 years.

Although Shi Yu's vision was blurry, she tried hard to find any trace of remaining affection, sympathy or warmth in his eyes.

What she saw painfully pierced through her heart like a sharp dagger.

The man before her was totally unfamiliar.

There was no reluctance in his eyes, no love, nor hatred. He just looked at her indifferently as if he was looking at a complete stranger who wasn't even worthy of his slightest attention.

An involuntary whimper escaped Shi Yu lips as her shoulders dropped in resignation.

As more tears came, more thoughts whirled through her head. The man Infront of her was a cold-hearted and bloodthirsty beast, why would he even save her?

" She's the one. I personally saw her killing Luo Ya. "

Xie Ming's cold voice void of any emotions dropped, sending Shi Yu to her grave. Her eyes widened in shock as complete hopelessness converted into tears that rained down her face at a lightning speed.

Her chest tightened as if someone was gripping her insides.

" Xie Ming you cold-hearted bastard! " Shi Yu's hoarse voice roared all over the room.

" So many years of giving you everything I had, so many years of giving you the life you have now! Is this what I get in return?! "

She shouted, struggling crazily to get out of the two court police officers that were constraining her to prevent her from causing a scene.

She seemed as if she had gone out of her mind. She wanted nothing but to tear apart into pieces the bastard that she had called her husband for 3 years.

" Let me go! I'm innocent, I... I didn't kill anyone. He's the murderer! " Shi Yu weakly pointed at him her vision clogged.

" Yes! He's the murderer! Tell him to return my parents and grandpa... You're all wrong, I never killed anyone... "

Her soft voice full of pain, grievance and heartbreak echoed throughout the whole city but sadly no one believed her.

She was all alone!
