Chapter 25 - Visit from a foreign friend

"Oh, it's raining outside"

When he looked in the direction of the sea, he noticed that water droplets were starting to fall tremendously and the sky also turned darker.

"Not much of a rain… more of a storm"

Scary.

Ryuu wasn't the type of person who liked rain. It wasn't because it would get him wet or just annoying in general. He's just scared of the loud sound and the thunders clapping afar.

He had just arrived outside of his apartment room, and he looked outside again.

The sky had turned even darker than before and there were already heavy winds.

Ryuu took out the keys to his apartment from his pocket and as soon as the door opened, the next moment it closed. He wasn't taking a second chance of staying outside where there was going to be a loud, windy and dark storm.

As he took off his thick jacket and flicked the light switch beside him, he let out a deep sigh.

"Haah… I'm tired"

He had a long day before he came home.

For starters, he had to go to school for a presentation with his friends. The best looking and the most informative presentation gets the best score. And of course, Ryuu wanted to get the highest score in his school.

A normal presentation wouldn't be tiring, right? Anyone could just make a simple presentation and be fine with that.

Well that wasn't the case for Ryuu. He was, and the only one, who wanted that highest score. The problem was——

———It was a group presentation.

When one had a different aim from the others, and that others wanted just to do less work, there would be an unequal equilibrium between the two.

This was the case for Ryuu.

Since he wanted the best out of the best, he worked hard to find all of the materials that he needed, the group needed, for the presentation.

—He opened the door to his room and turned on his computer before sitting, crouching on his chair.

He was still tired but he had to do more important stuff before sleeping and calling it a day.

Before he opened the usual program that he used to write his codes, a notification popped out on the bottom right corner of his monitor.

It was a call from Chris—Chris Edward from singapore.

Ryuu was surprised. He hadn't planned a call or a meeting with Chris.

Despite the fact that he was tired and was also not wanting to talk to anyone right now, he picked up the call.

"Hello?"

Ryuu was the one who said it first.

"Tanaka, can I stay at your place?"

"Huh? Are you in Japan right now?"

"Yeah…"

"What are you doing here?!"

"Can a man not have a nice vacation for the winter season?"

"W-well… it's better if you could tell me first that you were coming here…"

"I did book a hotel"

"Then why are you asking me if you could stay at my place?"

"Kid… it's raining. And it's raining hard"

"Is the hotel far from the station?"

"Yeah… I was planning to visit you for a bit and check in with the hotel but… when I got here, it started to rain… and I believe they're not gonna operate the train again until the rain stops"

"..."

"So yeah… if you don't mind"

"Yeah, I don't mind"

The door opened as a black silhouette from the outside of his house disappeared and became a man he knew since childhood once he walked in, all soaked.

"I got no dryer for your clothes…"

"Don't worry, I got spare clothes in my luggage"

"Alright, that's great"

Totally expected.

But the unexpected part was that his luggage wasn't soaked. From in front of the door and inside of the house, the luggage didn't look wet for him.

Ryuu had grabbed a towel before, intending on giving it to Chris once he arrived at the front of the door.

"Here"

Chris said, handing back the towel again.

"Do you want something to eat?"

Ryuu asked as he folded the used towel, putting it on a rack.

"I've already eaten before coming here"

"Alright"

That night, there was nothing extraordinary going on.

Ryuu returned to his room and resumed coding on a project he had been working on since he was eleven years old. Chris, meanwhile, was sleeping on a futon on top of a nice and warm tatami floor mat.

Chris had a hectic week before coming here for a holiday, Ryuu had assumed.

When Ryuu got out of his bedroom in the morning, he was shocked to discover Chris cooking. From his perspective, the meal Chris was preparing was only enough for two people, if that.

"What are you cooking?"

Ryuu asked as he walked into his kitchen to grab a juice box inside of his fridge.

"A mix of western and eastern food"

He said as he flipped the egg he was cooking.

On the dining table, there were already plates with western food and another with eastern ones. On each side, there was a small bowl that had rice, freshly cooked from the rice cooker.

"Alright, let's eat!"

Chris said when he finished placing the hot eggs on top of an empty plate.

"———"

When Ryuu moved to the apartment, he bought a small table for only two people to eat—he was expecting Ichika to either eat with him, bringing her food to his house or his food.

Ryuu was stunned by the sight of his table not being as small as he thought. It was because, early that morning, Chris pushed other table-like stuff in Ryuu's house to make the table seem bigger than before, and for the food to fit on the table.

"Too much for you?"

Chris looked at Ryuu, who was still standing and looking down at his table.

"You have a big appetite…."

"I sure do!!"
