—A quiet day is a rare moment for him.
Sitting in his room; his gaze locked into his monitor screen; the air conditioner keeping the room cold; locked doors to keep this moment private without anyone disturbing him.
To make it better, it was the start of the weekend, and all of his homeworks had already been done by him.
"Nice, now I get time to do something that I like"
For the past weeks, he has been helping his close friend—Takanashi Ichika—with her shenanigans, that is, doing something a normal person wouldn't do. For example, he helped Ichika with carrying bags filled to the brim with food ingredients.
What was it for? The exact question was asked to Ichika.
"It's for cooking, dummy!"
What a weird girl. His mind thought of Ichika.
Though he has been friends with her for a long time, just like Sara and Shouta, but he has never gone to the same school as Ichika. All of his life, he never saw what Ichika is like when she is in school, let alone how she acts in school.
He has heard stories from students walking past him, overhearing their words about Ichika. His reaction was surprising at first. Someone he knew since he was very young, was a completely different person.
"—Hmmm… that's weird…"
He said, looking at his monitor screen.
What it displayed was lines of codes only he can understand.
Well, it would be a lie if I tell you only he understands it. But out of his friends, Shouta and Sara included, none of them could understand the codes. But, it was just his assumption. Shouta and Sara haven't seen or know what he does in his free time. And Ryuu does not know if Shouta and Sara understand every line he was writing.
Back to the monitor, an error message smoothly popped out of the corner of the monitor.
"Did the line not work?"
After questioning himself, he then tries to rewrite the line once more.
"How about that?"
He tries his code again.
Surprisingly for him, it worked right away.
He smiled because of it.
"Ho? Second time worked"
Before this, he had tried many times to correct his lines. He tried it the third time, didn't work; he tried it the fifth time, didn't work; he tried it the tenth time, still didn't work.
"Alright, let's move on to the next one"
He then types in another line. And another line. And another; after another.
You might ask, what is he making? Why is he writing lots of lines? What is he going to do if he succeeds in doing so?
Well, he has an answer to that.
Unlike Shouta, Ryuu's future is already set. He will be going to Singapore and he will be working with a foreigner to make helpful machines.
This foreigner—Chris Edward—has met Ryuu before. By chance, he was surveying a competition about coding and witnessed the amazing work of Ryuu Tanaka. He immediately saw the potential behind Ryuu, a monster ready to make a new generation.
When the competition was over, Chris was able to talk to Ryuu's parents about their son's potential. He offered them a chance for Ryuu to work in Singapore with him.
Ryuu's parents' eyes widened. It was a once in a lifetime chance, and they could not agree more. To put it clearly, Ryuu's parents agreed with Chris.
After that, Ryuu was called by them and also said yes after being told he could work with a foreigner.
—It has been three years, and Ryuu has remembered that moment since. It was truly unforgettable.
His fingers were starting to hurt. He has been in his room for an hour, continuously typing lines after lines without stopping.
He then stopped, he hadn't noticed the pain of his fingers before, but as he stopped typing, his fingers were shining red and a thunderous pain came crashing down on his fingers. Letting out a loud scream, he fell down and hit his head on the floor.
"———Aaaaa"
Suddenly, the lights of his room turned on.
"Huh?" Ryuu looked at what was above him.
"What are you doing?"
It was a black haired girl, wearing a teal and blue dress. Her eyes glow disappeared as her own head blocked the light from the ceiling lights. Takanashi Ichika smiled at a cute one.
"How did you get in here?"
Ryuu asked, getting up from the ground and then sat in front of Ichika.
"I found spare keys"
"..."
Weird. The exact word came out of Ryuu's mind. He remembered there were no spare keys to his rooms nor there were other keys that lead to it. Only he has the key to his room.
"Why are you here?"
Ryuu asked, his face looking slightly down.
"Let's go to the beach!"
"What for?"
"A walk of course!"
Her face lit up as she said that. It seems she really wanted to walk at the beach.
Ryuu sighed at the moment seeing his friend's happy face. At that moment, he couldn't deny it. If he did, Ichika would be sad.
"Alright. Wait for me outside"
"Okay! I'll wait you outside"
Ichika gave Ryuu a smile then left the room quickly, closing the door behind her.
Ryuu sighed again. His perfect [alone moment] was ruined by none other than his childhood friend.
It looked like it was going to be another restless day for Ryuu Tanaka. Whatever Ichika would ask him to do, even if he wanted to do something else, he would still do what Ichika said.
In front of the house, where Ichika was waiting for Ryuu. She was sitting down on her knees, her head resting on her hands and her eyes fixed to the outside view.
Ryuu's house was an apartment, he lived on the tenth floor and had a great view of Enoshima island.
Ichika has visited Ryuu's home multiple times, but she couldn't get enough of the view that was given to that floor.
—The owner of the apartment named the tenth floor "The dawn" because every dawn, the tenth floor will have one of the best views out of all of the floors.
As she was getting up from the floor, the door to Ryuu's apartment opened, and out came a well dressed Ryuu.
"Ryuu"
"What is it?"
"We're going to the beach, idiot"
"..."
"You forgot didn't you?"
As Ryuu turned around his back with an embarrassed face, he headed back inside. Before he did that, he said to Ichika.
"Give me a moment"
"Do it fast!!" Ichika shouted.
