Chereads / Wrong Mate / Chapter 4 - Akin to Thoughts

Chapter 4 - Akin to Thoughts

I've been staring at the ceiling for the last few hours. It's been a week since I've last saw Atlas and the unfinished conversation we've had. I'm going nuts about how I'm going to reject the guy. No matter how hard I try thinking of a way to solve my dilemma, my fuzzy brain wouldn't come up with anything.

I turned sideways in my bed, now facing the beige wall.

Organizing my reasons about Atlas. I began to tick them in my brain.

First of all, I want a chance with him, who wouldn't? He's a fine ass male.

Second, I don't want to reject him at all. Bond maybe damned.

Lastly, I want him, well, almost bordering with need even if he swing the other way.

The last conversation we've had ended with me telling him no. "Who the hell suggest about making a friend out of their mates anyway?" I muttered. Well, apparently, someone like my mate. My brows met in concentration.

I groaned in frustration. Of all things the goddesses have to gave me..

I rolled out of bed and walked towards my closet. Took my mint green hoodie and braid thy frizzy hair. I need to clear my head over my problem. It is something that can't be solve alone anyway.

I sauntered out of my cozy home and reach for my keys. It's good enough that Sally is busy for the upcoming wedding and the Pack's with the Alpha's birthday.

I was about to ride my car when someone bets me to it.

"I'm driving give me the keys." said the person. I snickered out of nowhere.

"Get the hell off my seat Logan." I chastised.

"That's a bad word." he replied not moving an inch from her driver seat.

"Yeah and you'll have to had your ears sewed back if you don't move. Out of my seat." she warned pointing her finger out of the car.

"Please I want to know how to drive a car. Dad won't even let me near one." he pleaded, slowly pouting his lips and pulling a good show of his pitiful eyes.

"Logan your freaking fourteen. You may looked like a dang 20 year old but you're not driving my car anytime soon." I pushed him off the driver seat towards the shotgun. Fortunately, he did not protest and let me do the pushing.

"You think so? I would be able to party with this body right? My Mom told me that if I started to grow a facial hair next year then I'll pass off as a 25 year old man." he said excitedly. Turning the radio on. Imagine Dragons blasted through the speakers.

"Yeah and I'm worried for those dang cougars. Don't even start partying yet or the Alpha will flog your skinny ass." I teased. The kid will surely deceived people with his body built.

The kid just grin at me, head bobbing now to Imagine Dragons, I Bet My Life.

"Where are you going anyway? Can I go with you please?" he did his best puppy dog eyes matching with praying hands. I laughed and ruffled his already messy hair. This kid is totally adorable and the pack surely adore this kid too.

"I'm gonna visit a friend. Get off my car Logan." I started the engine. Checking my car's progress and backing it out of the drive way.

"I wanna go with you please. I'm done with my homework and I'm cooped up inside the packhouse a whole freaking day. I want a breather. " another smile from the teen.

"Yeah but I'm actually going to the next city now get off." I said stopping the car, waiting for him to get off. I looked at him, who's already tapping with his phone.

"Yes Mom, I'm with Mavis.. The next city yes.. how long..?" he said and looked at me. Asking indirectly, how long is the said visit going.

"Just around two." she mouthed. The lad continues to explain and ended with his mom agreeing to it.

Well, everyone knows whom is whom around the packhouse. It's a close-knit community after all.

"Let me talk to Evelyn a bit." I said taking the phone right away and swore to take care of the kid.

After all that, we decided to do a stop by Solace to get some snack for Logan.

I let him pick his snacks as and continue the travel.

I was so busy talking to Conan that I was not able to notice a pair of eyes following our every move.

"Boss someone came by yesterday looking for you." Alvin told her the moment she slide through the door of her mart.

My brows shoot up as I tried to recall any appointments, bills, orders or any missed social calls that I might have forgotten. I really can't recall one though.

"I think it's that Alpha from another pack. The hot dude. Dang I would like those guns too." said Alvin in a dazed. I'm not sure if I should be surprise or laugh at his dazed face.

My mate might swing the other way but surely his charms works on all genders anyway. I continue striding towards my office when the words Alvin said starts to sink in.

Atlas was looking for me yesterday?

I tried my damnedest to ignore it but the flutters partying around my stomach said otherwise. It sure is hard to ignore the red string of fate.

I seek Alvin with my eyes and found him still dazed while stacking boxes of soda in the corner.

"Any messages Al?" I said loud enough for jolt him out of whatever he's thinking. He turned to me and continues wiping the dust on the products.

"I don't really remember. I was busy ogling his guns yesterday." He shrugged, carefully adding another stack of the boxes.

My brows went up, should I get alarm over his answer?

I didn't say anything and stares at him as he keep doing his work. Few seconds went by when Alvin gave in and focus on me.

"He said he'll be back today or the next. You staring at people really irks me Boss. No pun." I shrugged at him and saunter away to laze around my office.

Anticipation is really not my thing. If Atlas will see me today, I should've taken extra care of my outfit. Wearing an old pair of jeans and a loose long-sleeve shirt would not cut it.

I sigh and place my pack bag on my table. There's no use overthinking about it. Instead of lazing around, I picked up the documents laid on my desk. It's needs to be reviewed and rechecked to make sure the inventories add up. It might sound like I neglect Solace a lot but I do not. It is my baby, second to Atlas if I may say.

I shake my head in disbelief. Nah, no more mate-related thoughts today. I strengthened my hair and focus on the papers.

I was so focused on my paper that I was jolted out of my seat when I heard a loud crash outside.

There's no such thing as peaceful day I believe. Sigh.
