Chereads / Assassin in The Witcher / Chapter 30 - Insult

Chapter 30 - Insult

Saibus and Trinity are in the solar of the king of Kaedwen with the latter. The king holds the papers that our assassins have stolen from the various nobles and reads them. Saibus and Trinity are standing in front of the king's desk with expressionless faces. The more the King reads the documents, the more a mixture of joy and hate can be seen on his face. He is happy because he has the proof he wants to execute the nobles without any repercussions, and he hates them for plotting against him and attempting to steal the crown from him by carrying out a coup d'etat. One wonders how a person's face can be divided into two expressions, but knowing the king's madness and paranoia, one can find this normal. The king continues his trance for a while before paying our assassins.

Saibus and Trinity leave the palace and go to a tavern to get a room. They are then on the outskirts of the city near the walls. The two ate the proposed meal and went up to their rooms. Trinity has gone to shower first while Saibus takes care of her equipment. When Trinity comes out of the shower in casual clothes, Saibus takes her place and puts on a casual outfit for sleeping. He lies down in his and begins to read a book he had taken out of his bag. Trinity lays down in bed and tries to sleep but can't sleep, and rolls around several times in bed. Finally, she turns around and watches Saibus read her book. She examines the book and raises an eyebrow.

"You didn't have this book before you left. Where did you find it?"

"I found it today." Saibus answers.

"You found it ?"

Saibus nods.

"I can know where you found a book on magic."

"I found it in a chest made of wood and iron with other unnecessary paper," Saibus said.

Trinity nods and turns to try to sleep. Moments later, Trinity seems to have an idea and turns to Saibus.

"Did you find the book in the safe where there was proof that the nobles wanted to overthrow the king?" Trinity asks.

"Yes," Saibus said without stopping reading the book.

"And you didn't think of telling me, of giving it to the king? And why did you take it." Trinity said with a loud voice.

Saibus, not shaken by Trinity's loud voice, turns the page of the book before answering.

"Because this book is a wizard's notebook and may contain ideas of magic. I don't intend to give this to the king. Besides, he doesn't need the book. He already has all the proof he wants. He doesn't. There is, therefore, no point in giving him the book. "

Trinity doesn't say anything in front of Saibus's arguments. Instead, she lets out a sigh and puts it behind her head, telling herself that he was right. One less or more proof won't change anything for the king. As she is right, this book does not change anything for the king, but for others, this notebook can change history and quickly make it known.

Saibus and Trinity stayed another week at Ard Carraigh. He takes the opportunity to take a vacation and rest. They saw the direct consequences of their missions because the nobles were all executed for treason and their property seized by the crown. The nobles who hesitated to join the rebellion went to the king's side, which consolidated his power.

Saibus and Trinity leave town and begin the return journey. At sunset, they set up a camp to spend the night there. Saibus is reading the notebook while Trinity takes care of the fire. Trinity moves the embers with a stick when she hears.

"Whore." says Saibus, kissing the book and looking at Trinity. Trinity walks up to Saibus and positions herself behind him to see what makes her react that way.

She looks at the notebook and reads aloud.

"The preparation is going well. We should be ready in a few months at most a year to exterminate these monsters with the yellow eyes. So soon, there will be no more witcher.

Signed Agor, a magician of the school of wolves.

"Son of bitch."
