Chapter 15 - Choice of weapons

The next morning Saibus woke up at five o'clock. He is getting ready and eating in the cafeteria. Then he headed at 7:30 am to the Training Hall where he will be trained with the others to become assassins.

Arriving in his training room, he found that he was not the first to arrive. He nodded his head to the other novice who returned it to him, sat down against the hall wall, and began to meditate.

Ten minutes later, all the novices and the instructor are formed in the room.

"Hello, today I am going to introduce you to the different weapons that we use in melee and ranged weapons. First, I was hoping you could choose what types of weapons you will use, both melees and ranged. You can specialize later, but remember that every assassin needs to be a melee and ranged master. " the instructor before giving way to the many catalogs of weapons that declare on the tables so that several people choose his type of melee and ranged weapons. In front of each catalog, a blacksmith explained the advantages, disadvantages, specifics, and other things related to weapons.

Saibus's POV

I wait for most novices to choose their weapons and go to the blacksmiths to get training weapons. I was one of the last group of novices to choose these weapons. I walk over to one of the hand-to-hand combat weapon catalogs and ask the blacksmith for some advice. After a careful choice, I restrict my choices to several types of weapons.

First the one-handed swords, then the sabers, then the daggers, then come the chains or the kusarigama, the katar.

Then I push the daggers aside. They're too small, so there is no reach, but I can still use various reflection poisons to make them lethal trigger weapons. The katar is the same reasoning if I can use them by rotating them thanks to the friction bar. The saber sucks, too, because the different types of sabers the League has are not what I want. So I still have the one-handed swords and the kusarigama. After some thought, I chose the one-handed swords to start with, and nothing prevents me from practicing kusarigama later.

Then I go to the ranged weapons. I also see that ranged weapons are less communicated than melee weapons, but I still make a small selection. First, come, of course, the arcs, whether they are long or short. In second comes the weapons of jets like the daggers, the senbon, the bolas, or the chakrams. Finally, I chose the crossbows. To fight, I prefer to be nimble and deliver fatal blows quickly. So the crossbow and the bow are out of play. They will encumber me too much if I have to fight melee after using them. Therefore, my only choice is the throwing weapons, even if I have to remove a large range from my ranged attacks. So I take senbon that I poison with paralyzing poisons, deadly which acts more or less quickly. As well as trigger agents to do effective damage.

When I finished, I went to the Development Hall to pick up some practice one-handed swords, several sets of senbon, and trigger daggers. Then I go to my room to put on my new weapons and leave for the training hall to continue my training.

"Well, now I'm going to give you your routine for the years before you become an apprentice and have a mentor." inform the instructor.

Then from 9:40 am to 11:40 am, you have lessons with the class assigned to you according to the different courses you have chosen and the compulsory ones. Then from 12:00 to 13:30 is your break.

From 1:30 pm, to 3:30 pm, you have a hand-to-hand combat class with and without weapons. Then from 3:40 pm, to 5:40 pm, you must learn to use your ranged weapon. To finish from 5:50 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. you take additional lessons if you have taken more lessons. Finally, from 6:50 p.m. you have free quarters. There are no curfews, so you can go to bed whenever you want, but you have to return here at 7:30. Including ?"

Together "Yes sir answered" the novices.

"I DIDN'T HEAR, DID YOU UNDERSTAND?" the instructor yelled.

"YES, SIR.," cried the novices.

"Alright, go get out of here and meet tomorrow here at 7:30 am.

After exiting the hall and the Practice Hall, Saibus went to the Hall of Knowledge for beginners' potion concoction and novice magic. Then, finally, he went to his room to start learning alchemy and continue his mastery of magic.
