Chereads / Assassin in The Witcher / Chapter 16 - Test

Chapter 16 - Test

One year later.

It had been a whole year since Saibus's parents had died, and he had joined the League of Assassins. During this year, Saibus did nothing but train, train, and train even more. Saibus has become a master in the art of one-handed swords and dual wielding of one-handed swords, even though he does not use both swords simultaneously. Saibus also became an apprentice alchemist. However, magic is the area where he has made the most progress; he has become a mage.

(AN: Proficiency levels are in the auxiliary chapter.)

Saibus got up early today because he was going to become an apprentice and receive a mentor. First, he went to his bathroom to wash up after showering and dressing. Saibus headed to the Practice Hall.

Saibus POV

I walked to the Practice Hall with several questions in my head. What mentor will I have, whether or not I have to take a test to become an apprentice if I'm going to be my mentor's only apprentice? I was asking myself a question and many others as well. When I walked through the Training Hall door, I did not go to the training room where I am going during the past year, but the orientation room for the novices. Arriving in the room, I saw my instructor, several assassins who are probably mentors, and a dozen novices.

After greeting the other novices, I sided with them. We waited for about ten minutes before the door to the room opened. When we heard the door open, everyone looked up at it. The person entering was

A member of the League Council. Specifically, he was Leonidas, aka Golem. From the last year I spent in the League. I learned that Leonidas is also the League Chief of Staff and is responsible for the League's military strategy. He always wears his Roman helmet with Roman armor. (AN: I put the link to a picture of Leonidas in the auxiliary chapter.)

Leonidas stood in front of the line of novices that we have created with the mentors behind him. He looked at us for a few seconds before speaking.

"Today is the day when you are going to become an apprentice, but first, you have to take a test to find out which mentor is best for you." Leonidas declared with a loud voice.

At this statement, some novices had frowning looks.

"The test is elementary. You will each take turns showing us your level in the martial art of the League. Then you will fight. After each of you has passed the test, the mentors will choose the students they If one of you doesn't have a mentor at the end, don't worry. There are other mentors out there, but they're on missions right now. So you'll take a second test when they will be back.

After Leonidas explained what to do there, we walked past the mentors to show our martial arts. This test is similar to the kata test in martial arts in belt loops in my old world. I have observed that I have the greatest mastery of the arts in the League, and I am probably the strongest of this group even though I am one of the youngest. (AN: MC just turned 12.)

During our test, Leonidas and the mentors looked at us without letting their emotions show. The first part of the test lasted about twenty minutes. Then, when I have finished my pass, the second part of the test begins. We are ten apprentices, so there will be five fights.

While I thought Leonidas announced the fighting.

"Now the second phase begins. You are going to do duels. You have the right to all blows that can lead to the death of your opponent. Remember one thing, the result of the battle has nothing to do with what you can do with the choice of mentors. You may lose and have a mentor who wants you as an apprentice or win and has no mentor. "

After his intervention, Leonidas announced the order of the fighting.

"First fight: Airi against Bett."

"Second fight: Soge vs. Zorr."

Third fight: Desmond against Saibus. "

Fourth fight: Thirteen against Vick. "

Last fight: Robin against Lydia. "
