Chapter 10 - A deal with the Head Assistant

A tall and handsome man entered a café, making a few people glance at him with admiration. He strode towards a table that was placed near the corner.

It was a cozy café near the Cohen's main company. It was already time to make a deal with Head Assistant Lincoln.

"Head Assistant Lincoln. I apologize for making you wait." Sherdan said politely. He remembers this person as someone who helped him, and he will always do. Head Assistant Lincoln helped him overcome the first project that he had to handle, but he died before they even formed a deeper bond.

"It's alright Young Master." Lincoln said.

"Do you want me to order some coffee? Or any sweets?" He asked with a friendly smile.

Just like Sherdan's secretary, the younger Lincoln, the Head Assistant Lincoln is kind, but knows when to be strict. They were balanced person that excels in their career.

"No, thanks. I'd like us to discuss what I need." Sherdan said in a straightforward manner. This matter needs to be settled first.

He knows all the major things that will happen for the next upcoming years. Those projects that failed, those projects that impacted the projects he created the moment he took over, and those projects that were rejected but became a huge hit after being implemented by another lodging companies. Although he was only able to know this because he had time to review it before in passing.

Naturally, he should have already forgotten it. But the sudden travel back to time brought all his memories back and replayed it again in his mind like a CD. He now remembers it quite vividly.

He cannot change every little things and make the company grow early by making every project successful. Because that will mean, the events that will soon happen will change too. Like a butterfly effect.

He's sure once a butterfly effect happens, the accident of his parents will also be affected. In the first place, it happened due to business, so when the business trajectory changed from the original timeline, that means so does their date of accident or maybe even the cause of their accident.

Although there's also a great possibility of fully getting rid of the chances of the accident ever happening. It is also an uncertain territory, Sherdan will only take risks if it's his life on the stake, but if it's his family's, then there's no way in hell he would be so careless.

"Then, can the Young Master tell me why he wanted to obtain this data?" Lincoln asked. He wanted to discuss this to his boss, but he wanted to at least hear Sherdan's explanation.

Sherdan is a bright and responsible kid, he doesn't need to worry that these informations he had in his case might end up in the wrong hands. Although if the Young Master gives him a reason that he can't accept, he will instantly take this information back with him.

Sherdan then became serious.

"I have memories of the future." He said.

He had been testing this out since last week. The God told him he can't tell anyone about the fact that he brought him back from the future, but he didn't tell him he can't say anything about his memories from the future.

Looking at it in another way, it might even be possible that he didn't come back from the future. But only obtained the memories of his future self.

As to why the God didn't clear this to him, he doesn't know.

But one thing is for sure, saying this much is allowed. He had tried saying it to several people, with his mind really resolute on telling it. But the God didn't take any action, or warned him about it like he did before.

And aside from that, even if the God didn't warn him, he was probably placed under an absolute spell. Whenever he wanted to mention things about him coming back from the future, he will become a mute. This also happened when he tried saying more than "I have memories of the future.", like the details of the future for example.

There were some certain things that will be 'muted', but it wasn't all. The God probably had a reason why he did this. There must be some kind of effect if the future, or certain parts of the future, is known by several people.

Head Assistant Lincoln was stupefied. What? This is the reason? Is the Young Master playing a joke on him?

He tried looking around to search for people holding cameras and even tried touching the underneath of the table to search for any hidden recording devices. But there's none.

He had seen several teens pranking people on YouTube! He can't be so carefree. After all, it's gonna show on YouTube. He can't look dumb!.

Sherdan saw him acting like this, and laughed faintly.

"It might sound impossible, but it is the truth. I cannot say the details, because I have a handicap, but I won't kid about this. After all, someone precious to me, will pass away in time." Sherdan said, his voice filled with seriousness. It might not be enough to make the Head Assistant believe it, but it will be enough to catch his attention. It will also prevent him from thinking that this is just a prank.

Sherdan in the Head Assistant Lincoln's views is a smart and responsible kid. So he will at least take that into account and won't turn down his reasons immediately.

"However, this is hard for me to believe. How can such things happen?" Lincoln cannot believe it. It's not that he doesn't want to, but it's just impossible, never in his mind did he think that this was the reason why the Young Master wanted to obtain all these information.

"I cannot say. However, it is true."

"But, why do you refuse to tell it to the Mr. and Mrs. Cohen? Rather, have you told them this?" Lincoln fixed his glass. He's so stupefied that he's panicking. Although all the questions he asks still hits the spots.

"I can't tell them, because it concerns them. That's also the reason why I came to you first. You were the closest to them, and also someone who have access to company records. I cannot tell them about it, but I can tell you. It is convenient." Sherdan said.

It is true that he cannot tell this to his parents, it's because they were the root cause why he's taking these actions. They had to move like how they did in the original timeline, so Sherdan won't have to worry about unprecedented things. If they deviate, and it caused a great impact to the future events, planning about preventing the airplane crash will be futile, since that means he no longer have any idea on what the future holds. He can only control some things behind the scene, and have the Head Assistant's help.

Lincoln was surprised, but he finally put all what the Young Master said together. It was not logical, but he can at least trust him. He doesn't know what is preventing him from telling everything about it, but he can at least understand that the 'passing away of someone precious to him' might be referring to Sherdan's parents.

Lincoln became serious then. It turns out this is a serious matter. He will give him the data, but he's curious about something.

"If the Young Master Sherdan had memories of the future..." he trailed off. He was quite afraid of asking this, as a Father, it is normal.

"Did you know what happened to my son?" He asked. He wanted to know what happened to his son, he can ask this because he trusted Sherdan's words in a certain degree.

Sherdan smiled. "He's a competent secretary. He lived well." He answered, tone held a little warmth.

So you don't have to worry, Brailey is doing fine under my wings.

Rather, you should worry about yourself. He remembered that Head Assistant Lincoln died from heart attack. He was someone who intakes more sugar than an average man, even now, he wanted to order some sweets.

"You should also decrease your sugar intake. And avoid over consuming fatty meats." Sherdan said. He wanted to tell that it's because he'll have a heart attack, but he had already become a mute.

So that's the limit of how much he can say. It turns out he can only say vague things, understanding what he said depends on the other person's comprehension.

And the Head Assistant was someone who have quite a quick mind, so he already understands that it might be relating to his health. He's aware of his over consumption of sugar, so he might have had a disease in the future that the Young Master Sherdan saw.

It's possible that he had either a chronic disease, a cardiovascular disease, diabetes, a non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, cognitive decline or even cancer. Nevertheless, they were all diseases he must, absolutely avoid having.

"Thank you, Young Master Sherdan. I've brought the data with me. Please tell me if you require my assistance, I'll come and help." The Head Assistant said.

Although he still felt like he must be dreaming, it's not to the point that he'll reject the idea. It's not impossible. And also, finding about his son's future circumstances is a good gain. He's getting old, and he's worried because his son will always refuse to become a secretary.

He doesn't want to force him, because it will only make him rebel more. But he can't help himself from worrying. If his son became the secretary of the Cohen's, then his future is assured. He won't have to experience the hardship of finding a suitable and decent job.

But he can now breathe a sigh of relief, it turns out his headstrong son ended up becoming a secretary in the future. And a competent secretary too. Even though he hadn't seen him, he already felt so proud of him.

"I will. Thank you, Head Assistant Lincoln. I'll call you soon." Sherdan said and bowed.

He had to leave now, he came here just before afternoon classes. Since the first afternoon class teacher was absent, he can be rest assured even if he's late. Head Assistant Lincoln had no other free time than his lunchtime too, so he had to hurry here to get on with his business.

"Yes, I will wait for it." Lincoln said.

Sherdan then stormed off and went back to the driver waiting for him outside.

He wouldn't change many projects that will affect his parents, but he will make some waves in his relatives faction.

His relatives gained some power over almost half of the company because of the past projects they pushed forward that became successful. Those projects did genuinely help the company, but it also put a shackle that prevent him for overtaking completely for years.

His hazel eyes darkened.

He had to check whether those pests had already started crawling their way inside, and eradicate them while it's still early.

Sabotaging the already approved projects is never an option, after all it will also impact the company negatively.

What should he do then?

He just had to place some useful pawns in the chess board, and have them take those pests glory.
