Of course, he was wrong.
The two of them started conversing seriously. Sherdan couldn't say anything regarding the fact that he was someone who was brought here by a Goddess in full detail, it was because he was still forbidden to do so.
But he was able to discuss the Golden Threads and the reason why Lucian is brought here. During this conversation, Lucian realized that Sherdan was the same as him, but also realized that for some reason, Sherdan couldn't say anything about it.
But as his 32-year-old self's quick-wittedness kicked in, he had a conjecture that Sherdan might be caught up in a troublesome circumstances.
Lucian also realized why he had a conflicting 'attitude' and 'mindset'.
It turns out that his 32-year-old self didn't possess his 16-year-old self's body, rather, these two consciousness from different timelines had fused.
And he didn't realize it due to his 16-year-old self consuming more of his 32-year-old self. That's why his quick mind was sometimes nowhere to be found, and he acts more like a kid.
"Then. Would you agree to the fusion of our threads?" Sherdan asked in a serious tone.
This matter was something uncertain. He couldn't force Lucian to agree, but it doesn't mean he wouldn't try to give him options. After all, this seems like it will have a certain impact on him and his plans.
Lucian became silent for a second. He was uncertain, but the greater part of him agreed with it. And so he didn't drag it on for long and gave his affirmation. It might seem foolish of him for someone else's point of view, but not for both his 'self'.
"How is it done." He asked.
Sherdan thought of the two small balls, and just like magic, they appeared in front of him. The two balls of light were radiant, it was like a mini version of the sun.
The two lights separated and went inside the two people's rings. A message then appeared inside their head. An instruction on how to complete the Golden Thread contract.
And so they followed that instruction. Both of them place their ring finger against each other and spoke.
"With this, our fates are sealed"
A blinding flash of light appeared for a few seconds enveloping both the two people's bodies, the moment it faded away, the golden threads, the ball of light and the rings were gone. Only a tattoo on their ring finger appeared.
Sherdan and Lucian examined it, but can't think of the meaning behind these weird symbols. Soon after, it disappeared without a trace.
A message suddenly emerged in their heads, it contains the meaning and the purpose of golden threads.
[ Golden Threads were similar to Red Threads as it also ties two people together, but it was more potent in power and is used for a different purpose.
Golden Threads tied two contrasting but compatible people. Its purposed was to give and take.
The greater person 'gives' to the lesser person, and the lesser person 'takes' from the greater person. Whatever that two creatures tied with Golden Thread does, it will only affect them. Isolate them.
The impacts and consequences the two of them do will only be shouldered by the two of them alone. And the outsider people won't get affected no matter what.
The Golden Thread will take effect until the final judgment. During its contract, no Gods can meddle with the two-person. ]
Sherdan felt his head aching. He can't understand it at all. Several things are only explained vaguely. It's like they were hiding an important point from them.
Lucian on the other hand had understood the gist of it. Although it is also quite a pain in the head.
"It seems Golden Threads' purpose was to make one of us 'acquire' something from one of us. And as to what we do, I think it might be about the changes we will do that will impact the future."
"And also, try telling me something you can't tell me." Lucian said.
His 16-year-old self had long been overtaken by his more rational self after he found out about the fusion. So he can now act like a proper person.
Even if he gets flustered, there's no way he'll show it in his face.
"Then." Sherdan thought of what he should say, and after coming to an agreement with himself, he opened his mouth to speak..
"I am brought back here by a Goddess, that Goddess seems to have taken a pity on me." Sherdan thought he will be muted again, but it seems what the Golden Thread said was true.
The two of them shared several conversations and information. Although Sherdan will still keep mum about things he can't talk about. Lucian won't inquire about it. After all they both know that Lucian knows everything about Sherdan.
The very reason why even though Sherdan had some trust issues, he still conversed with him. After all, Lucian knows everything about him.
He however, felt uncomfortable of course, no one in this world wanted all their memories known by someone else. But it's not as if he can make Lucian forget about it, it's impossible.
Lucian knows this very well. And was okay even if Sherdan hides things about himself. After all, he knows him more than anyone else.
So Sherdan still talking to him despite knowing that he had already walked past his personal space and had already invaded his privacy is something that is enough to make him feel gratitude.
Lucian and Sherdan were quiet after their long talk. Lucian wanted to know what Sherdan will do about Sherdan's parent's death, but he didn't dare ask. He will let the other decide whether he's worthy of knowing it or not.
"I want to ask about something," Sherdan spoke. Lucian looked at him.
It was almost midnight, and aside from them, only the sound of the heavy rain could be heard. Lucian looked at Sherdan with an affirming gaze.
"Why did you run around in a circle earlier? What do you want to know?" Sherdan asked. His gaze scrutinizing. Lucian was confused for a second and his head tilted. But when he realized what Sherdan was asking, he felt flustered and coughed.
Although he still looked composed outside, he was actually embarrassed.
"Well, I don't know if you remember. But in the original timeline, you and Friedde, in the guestroom." He avoided Sherdan's gaze, feeling embarrassed that he knows this.
Sherdan was unable to understand for a second but remembered what happened in the original timeline.
After getting struck by the realization, he couldn't help himself from chuckling. It turns out Lucian wasn't scheming about something but was embarrassed to ask him directly about why what he saw didn't happen today. He broke out in a delighted grin, for some reason, finding out the truth lifted a heavy burden in his chest.
"I see. I see. Sorry for judging you." Sherdan said making Lucian so confused.
The two of them went back to their room that night and rested. The next day, the rain become milder, but the road was still unavailable. So Lucian had no choice but to stay at Sherdan's house. It was weekends anyway, so he didn't need to worry about classes.
When he woke up, he stretched and did some light exercise. He then went down after brushing his teeth and fixing his clothes, his borrowed clothes rather.
He planned to at least help the maids make some food as a form of compensation, but instead of the maids, he saw Sherdan in the kitchen.
Sherdan was still wearing his pajama, his upper body covered with only a black bed robe. The inside of the house is warm, so he doesn't need to worry about getting a cold.
His wavy hair was messy, and he had his usual listless expression. Sherdan was holding a coffee in his left hand as his right hand was still wrapped in some bandage. He was staring at nowhere, seemingly lost in his thought.
"Good morning." Lucian greeted then asked.
"How's your arm?" He was still able to control his expressions, although he was worried.
Due to the fact that his other consciousness overtook him for a long time, it was still quite hard to control his emotions. As his 16-year-old self tends to be overly expressive.
"Mmm. It's not that awful." " Sherdan only glanced at him for a second and then sipped on his coffee. Since it doesn't look like he would let him acquire more about his injury, Lucian reluctantly let the topic go, although not before offering his help once again.
Sherdan only sighed. "No, it's really fine."
Seeing as though he doesn't think of this as a serious injury, Lucian just shut his mouth and turn his attention to the kitchen.
"Can I prepare some food? Is it alright?" Lucian asked. He also tried looking for a maid, but it seems there wasn't anyone around?
Sherdan saw him like this and spoke.
"They're all at home. I asked them to go home during weekends."
Lucian nodded, marking an end to their conversation.
He quietly prepared the food. There were only uncooked frozen foods in the ref, so he took some and fried it.
"Do you prefer rice? Or bread?"
"Bread. Imogen too."
"Hmm okay."
Lucian continued cooking, and Sherdan remained sitting there with his coffee, watching Lucian so immersed with what he's doing.
The two of them remained silent and didn't talk. But the silence was a comfortable one.
After a moment, Lucian was finally done. He had a bright smile on his face like he was satisfied with his 'cooking'. The corner of Sherdan's mouth lifted slightly, but died down like it was afraid of being noticed. He stood up from his seat and placed the empty coffee bottle on the sink.
"I'll go wake, Imogen." He said. Lucian nodded and washed his bottle after he was gone.
It didn't take long for the two of them to go down. Imogen was wearing his pink pajamas and was hopping on the stairs. Sherdan was holding her hands to ensure she wouldn't trip.
The three of them ate harmoniously. Lucian watched the two converse and was secretly happy after seeing them intimate. He wasn't aware before, but after coming back here and seeing Sherdan's memories, he found out that Imogen and Sherdan of the future were on bad terms. So seeing them like this, made him felt genuinely happy for Sherdan.
He secretly wished, for this guy's happiness. As he was deprived of it for too long.
A day passed again and the rain had already stopped. The road was also fixed and is available for anyone. Since it was only blocked by trees and soils and wasn't damaged, it didn't take them long to finish cleaning it.
"I'll go now then. Thank you for accommodating me. And sorry for the trouble." Lucian had an apologetic smile on his face. But Sherdan didn't mind his stay that much.
He wasn't an eyesore like Friedde, so it's fine. And Imogen also liked him during his stay, and their conversation was quite productive, so there's more gain than losses.
"Brother! Come back again okay! I'll miss you." Imogen hugged Lucian's thigh and was pouting. Her nose getting red from crying.
Lucian ruffled her hair and smiled.
"Of course. Brother will come to play with you again okay? I'll miss you too."
The two of them talked a bit more before Sherdan and Lucian head to where the car is parked. The driver was already waiting for Lucian.
He wanted to decline first since he had already troubled them enough, but he had to steel his face since he had no money left to call for a vehicle.
"Bye, thank you again," Lucian said and entered the car. But before the car started moving, he opened the car window and said.
"You might not need it. But, call me if you need my help." Lucian smiled and waved at Sherdan. The car had already started moving.
Sherdan only stared at him at first but responded with a hmm. This made Lucian smile, and he closed the window.
The car departed and Sherdan was left standing there. Looking at the car that was gradually leaving his view.
