Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

The next day

BZZZ...BZZZ...BZZZ.....BZZZ...BZZZ...BZZZ...

Agatha's POV

I groaned as I reached over to dismiss my alarm while getting out of bed, I stretched as I went to the bathroom. "Shower, brush teeth, eat breakfast, go to the orientation and go home." I said to myself as I turned the water on.

After I showered and brushed my teeth, I pulled out my shorts and shirt as I put them on, I brushed my hair as I looked at myself in a mirror. I fixed myself, you know, brushing off any loose hair and dust bunnies, making sure there's no wrinkles.

'Looking good... up to dress code... fits okay...' I thought while looking at my stomach.

It was then Helena's voice echoed in my head.

'I'm sure by the end of the summer, you're going to become a whale and no boy would love you then'

I squished my stomach as I sighed before picking out a sweater and put it on while looking. 'Much better. Barely noticeable.' I thought as I took a handbag and started to pack my phone, important documents, my bus pass and my school ID in my bag. As I looked at the time and my eyes widened "7:55?! I'm going to be late for the bus!" I screamed, grabbed my bag and rushed downstairs.

My dad was in the kitchen, pouring himself a cup of coffee when I ran towards the door, "Woah! Where's the fire? Why are you in such a rush?" my dad asked.

"Did you already forget that I have to go to the orientation today? It starts in an hour and buses are empty around this time. If I make it not only I'd be early, I'll have an empty bus to myself for a few minutes, so that's why I'm rushing to leave the house. I'll call you when the orientation ends and I'll send you the location, okay? Okay! Bye Dad!" I explained while running out the front door and ran to the bus stop.

As I arrived at the bus stop, the line was empty. I stopped to take a breather as I sat on the bench while fanning myself, "I... made...it!" I said as if I was going to pass out. After five minutes, I got bored of waiting for the bus. After glancing at the time, someone sat one seat away from me.

It was so awkward, but it was nice and quiet.

Me and this stranger sat patiently as we waited for the bus.

"Shoot my phone died..."

'CRAP THE STRANGER'S A GUY!' I thought as I froze in place while clinged onto my hands, 'Calm down... Calm down...' I thought as I relaxed a little.

"Um... Excuse me miss? Do you have the time?" the stranger asked.

"Oh. Um..." I stuttered as I took out my phone, "It's 8:07 right now." I said as I put away my phone while looking down.

"Just three more minutes to go. Thank you so much for the time." said the stranger, the stranger then sighed out of boredom. I stole a glance at the stranger and he surprisingly looked like my age.

His hair was messy and fluffy to play with and his face looked so young, but why does his voice sound mature?!

"Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry!" I frantically said.

"What are you sorry for?" asked the stranger.

"I assumed that you were older like WAY older than me because... of your... voice." I trailed off as I blushed, the stranger laughed "I get that a lot, I look young but I sound old. But that'll happen to you when you hit puberty, especially in high school, would you believe me if I told you that I'm a sophomore?" the stranger said.

SOPHOMORE?!

"No way, you look like a junior at most." I said, the stranger laughed "I'm serious, I'm going to be a sophomore. Here, look at my school ID." the stranger said as he showed his school ID.

I frantically looked away "What are you doing?! You're not supposed to show your IDs to strangers!" I yelped, covering my eyes.

"In that case... My name's Gideon." he introduced.

"I'm Agatha." I said while slightly smiling

After introducing ourselves, I took a peek at his ID. "Woah! You look cool!" I shouted. Realizing how loud I was, I covered my face in embarrassment, Gideon chuckled as he looked away.

'That was embarrassing! I wish I never said anything! I made things weird, I just know it.' I thought while Gideon was looking down the road.

"Hey, the bus is coming" he said as he put away his student ID.

'FINALLY!' I thought in relief while standing up as I looked at the time, "8:13... Forty-seven minutes until the orientation starts..." I mumbled as I went to look for my bus pass.

While I was engrossed in finding my pass, Gideon's voice woke me up from my head in the clouds, "Agatha, are you coming?" he asked. I looked up and saw the bus in front of me with the doors open, I awkwardly walked inside the bus and paid my fee "Sorry..." I said to the driver. The driver smiled "Don't worry about it, this happens all the time." said the driver as I walked towards the front seat and sat down.

"Is it your first time taking the bus?" Gideon asked as he sat across from me, "By myself, yes. Overall, no. I never traveled anywhere by myself before, I have to today. I'm going to my job orientation." I answered.

"So am I! Where are you working?" he asked, "Uh... A camp counselor... I want to explore outside of my comfort zone." I said, looking down at my feet.

"Camp Solitaire?" he asked.

"Yeah. How'd you know?" I asked as I looked up at him, "I asked because that's where I'm going." Gideon answered as he smiled. I smiled a little, "Small world." I giggled.

Normal POV

"Oh yeah, I'm sorry to ask this now and I know it'll sound weird but... What school do you go to?" Agatha asked.

"Believe it or not Silver Meadow Ridge Academy," Gideon answered. "Why'd you ask? What school do you attend?" he asked.

"I recently graduated from middle school." Agatha answered "And I recently got accepted from that Academy. When I saw your school ID, I got curious and wanted to know what it felt like in the Academy?" she said as she squirmed in her seat.

"Maybe I can answer that after the orientation, our stop is next." Gideon pointed out as he stood up and walked towards the exit. Agatha looked out the window as she stood up, "Good idea." she said as she followed Gideon out the bus.

As Agatha and Gideon walked inside the building and confirmed their identification, they went to the room where the orientation was taking place.

Agatha looks around the room and sees four people already inside, sitting in their seats. "There's a lot of seats, we can take those open seats over there if you want." Gideon suggested as he walked to the seats and sat down, Agatha followed Gideon and sat down next to him as she took out her phone "8:55. It took forty-two minutes to get here? That's... unusual, on my phone it was going to take fifty minutes to get here." she said.

"Sometimes the map is a little delayed in accuracy, it's one of the mysteries of time we'll never know." Gideon said, dramatically as Agatha chuckled.

It was then a thin girl with brunette hair walked up to them.

"Gideon? Gideon Dain? Hey, it's me, Emma Marx." said the girl.

Gideon looked up and smiled "Hey, Emma! Long time no see!" he said, "It's been a while hasn't it?" Emma said. Emma then looked at Agatha, Agatha froze up and looked away.

"Who's your friend?" Emma asked while staring down at Agatha, "Oh! This is Agatha, we bumped into each other on the bus ride over here. Agatha, this is Emma, we have known each other since elementary school." Gideon said.

"Wow, that's so cool! Uh are you guys still friends today?" Agatha asked.

Emma hugged Gideon and smiled "Of course we are! Who wouldn't be friends with a guy like Gideon?" she said as she giggled, Gideon laughed along with Emma "It's almost time for the orientation. Let's talk again later, okay?" he said.

"You got it, Giddy!~" Emma said as she walked back to her seat.

"'Giddy?'" Agatha asked, "Giddy is my nickname. Everyone calls me that because of how fun and energetic I am." Gideon explained.

"That's a very cute nickname... Better than my nickname." Agatha blurted out as she covered her mouth, 'Shoot!' she thought. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say it out loud. I was just thinking about it." she tried to explain before Gideon awed, "That's the most adorable nickname I've ever heard." he said.

"Yeah... well... My friend started calling me 'Aggie' throughout elementary school." she said while fidgeting in her seat. Gideon hummed "So your friend calls you that... Well, since we're going to be in the same school, I better start calling you that too." Gideon said with a shrug, "And you can call me Giddy."

Agatha blinked a few times before Gideon continued "Let's get along and work together okay, Aggie?" he said with a smile.

'.....What?' thought Agatha.

Before Agatha could say anything, a middle aged woman walked in the room "Hello everyone, my name is Sally Grant and I will be talking about your role of being the young workers guiding the young minds of tomorrow." she said as she set down her bag.
