Roosevelt's loss to Francis affected the Ashford family a lot. 'A prince from the Ashford family lost to a prince who just held a sword recently' was the hottest topic among the nobles. They started to look down on Ashford, the so-called big and strong family. It wasn't only that! Even some families that initially worked for Ashford, left them and supported Francis.
If Francis kept continuing this, I could rest assured to the end of my reign. I didn't have to get pressured to choose Roosevelt as the crown prince.
