Chapter 37 - Matthew’s Take On Revenge

With the small distance between Matthew and the big crocodile, it is quite impossible for Matthew to run away and dodge against the charging crocodile. Matthew then racked his brain and tried to find a way out of his current predicament.

He tried to look at his surroundings to search for trees with a low branch that he could attach his tongue to so that he could swing away from the place, but he couldn't find one. Matthew also thought of jumping into the water since he is closer to the lake than the big crocodile, but after considering that the big crocodile may have more strength to spare, Matthew is 1 million percent sure that he would be dead meat if he tried to go against the crocodile inside the lake.

Since running away is not possible, Matthew put his full attention back on the charging big crocodile and tried to see if there's anything that he could do to at least slip away from death's grasp.

All kinds of thoughts are going through Matthew's head, only 3 seconds have passed, but Matthew has thoughts about tens of possible ways to deal with the current situation, but there's only one method where Matthew is sure is likely to succeed. If the plans worked, then not only Matthew is safe from death, he will also be able to be free from any injuries, plus the big crocodile's life will be totally in Matthew's grasp if the plan worked successfully. But if he failed, then certain death will be the only thing that Matthew will get.

'Whatever! I'm sure that I will succeed because I fully trust my own ability!

Matthew knew that he didn't have any more time to hesitate since the big crocodile was now only 2 meters in front of him, so he decided to just throw away all kinds of thoughts and put all his focus and effort into making the plan work.

Matthew tried to remain as calm as possible to make sure that no mishap will happen when he proceeds with his plan of no return. Matthew then looked at the gaping mouth of the crocodile that was ready to devour him.

Adrenaline is rushing towards Matthew's brain as the big crocodile is getting closer and closer to him, but he decided to keep his calm and stared straight ahead, looking at the crocodile's mouth without even blinking once.

Finally, when the crocodile is only a meter away from him. Matthew opened up his mouth and launched his tongue with full power, while also controlling it so that it would bend and make it shaped like a wide spiral. The spiral tongue was launched out of Matthew's mouth and headed straight to the rushing crocodile.

The spiral tongue is wide enough that the big crocodile's long snout was able to pass through the spiral and right now it's in the middle of the spiral tongue.

Matthew waited patiently until the tip of his tongue finally reached the base of the crocodile's long snout. When that happens, Matthew quickly turns on the sticky property of his tongue and jerks his tongue so that the wide spiral will tighten around the whole snout of the crocodile and seal it shut completely.

With the crocodile's mouth now sealed shut, the only thing that Matthew has to deal with is the crocodile's charging that is still not showing any signs of stopping or slowing down. Although the charge is not that deadly since the mouth is already shut, the sheer power from the momentum of the big crocodile's body can still hurt Matthew.

But Matthew didn't worry much as his tongue is now coiled around the crocodile's mouth. To dodge the crocodile's body, Matthew jumped up and then used his tongue to pull his body towards the tightly shut crocodile's mouth, and using his 4 feet as a buffer, he landed safely on top of the crocodile's long snout.

But alas, the crocodile is still charging forward and headed straight to the lake. If Matthew didn't want to drown together with the crocodile, he needs to stop the charge.

Matthew then planted his hind legs as firmly as possible at the crocodile's hard scales and then using the claws on his front legs, he stabbed them deep into the under scales of the crocodile's mouth. With his two front legs and his tongue, Matthew pulled backward the crocodile's mouth as hard as he could in hopes that the crocodile would cease its charge and stop running.

Fortunately, after Matthew pulled hard and made the crocodile's mouth almost bend 90 degrees upwards, the crocodile finally fell off its feet and its huge body was dragged on the ground until it finally lost all of its momentum and stopped at only a meter away from the edge of the lake.

When the crocodile finally stopped, Matthew released his grasp on the crocodile's mouth and looked at the eyes of the big crocodile to make sure if it was really done or if it still had some juice left. After waving his feet in the front of the crocodile's eyes and poking the crocodile's left eye and seeing that the crocodile didn't respond to him at all, Matthew finally was sure enough to let go of his tongue that was still coiled around the crocodile's long snout and retracted them back into his mouth. Then he heaved a sigh of relief.

He didn't know if God really gave him the spare luck that he asked for or his skill is the one that enabled him to do this. Matthew's plan was relying heavily on his skill to control the tongue and the fact that the crocodile's mouth is weak against downward force to its mouth.

Although Matthew wasn't an animal expert back on earth. He does sometimes watch animal shows on TV. And one of the most frequent showS that he watched is a show about a man that travels in the wilderness searching for unique animals and telling the audience the unique facts about those animals.

In some episodes, Matthew had seen the man subduing a crocodile or an alligator by sitting on top of the crocodile and pushing its mouth downward with both of his hands to keep the crocodile in check. And Matthew had also seen they used wire or even tapes to keep the crocodile's mouth shut. He then thought that if a regular human or even regular black tapes can even hold down a crocodile's mouth, then his amazing tongue that can hold his whole body while swinging from tree to tree could of course also do that if not better!

The fact that he also used his tongue to coil around tree branches to swing also helped him a lot in controlling his tongue to make the spiral tongue earlier. Who would've guessed that Matthew's weird behavior had actually benefited him in times of emergency that could take his life.

Matthew took his time to just sit on top of the crocodile's mouth and let everything that had just happened seep in. The fact that he had just totally won a fight against 5 crocodiles with his own strength is something that needed time for his brain to process.

Although there are some unexpected situations that caught him off guard such as the number of crocodiles is more than he had predicted and his aura running out at a bad timing. But in the end, he still succeeded in accomplishing his revenge. Even with only little to no injuries other than his feet joints hurting a little after being used as a buffer when he jumped on top of the charging crocodile.

Other than his exhausted body and mind, and his aura is completely dried out, Matthew didn't lose anything else in this fight.

'Alright, I better get the job done properly before anything else happens.'

Matthew then walked down from the big crocodile, then using his tongue and body, he also flipped the big crocodile upside down just like the other three, before using his mouth to also tear open the big crocodile's neck to kill it quickly.

Matthew then walked over to the right crocodile and did the same to end its life quickly rather than waiting for the poison to kill it off. The other two crocodiles were already dead when Matthew was dealing with the big crocodile's last struggle and Matthew didn't even notice the notifications at that time.

'System, is there something like the notification history or something?'

'Does host want to open the notification log?'

'Ah, so you got one, yes open it please.'

Then at the right side of Matthew's vision, appeared the familiar rectangular box that the system usually uses, but now the title at the middle of the box is 'Notification Log'. And there's a list under the title.

------------------------------------

Notification Log

-Congratulations, you've reached Level 13-

-Level 13 Porosus Crocodile Killed-

-Level 13 Porosus Crocodile Killed-

-Level 11 Scrofa Boar Killed-

-Level 9 Brown-Tailed Deer Killed-

...

-Congratulations, you've reached Level 12-

------------------------------------

Matthew looked at the list and scrolled downward, and he could see all the notifications since the first day that he had come into this world.

'Oh! A level up! That's a nice bonus for killing the crocodiles.'

'Come to think of it, after evolving, I directly went up to level 12 after killing all those wolves, and the alpha wolf is 2 levels higher than the rest which gave the boost, I guess?' Matthew then glanced at the big crocodile and thought,

'Is that guy also has a higher level than the rest of the crocodiles?'

Matthew then waited for the notifications for the right crocodile and the big crocodile. And after waiting for a minute, the notifications from the right crocodile came first,

-Level 13 Porosus Crocodile Killed-

Matthew then waited again for another full minute before finally, the notification from the big crocodile came,

'D*mn, it even takes that guy 2 minutes before dying, what a tough gu...crocodile.'

-Level 15 Porosus Crocodile Killed-

-Congratulations, you've reached Level 14-

And with that last notification, marks the end of Matthew's revenge on the crocodiles.

'Revenge is sure hard and troublesome, and it may also bite back and take your life instead if you're not careful. Revenge is only for the determined one as it takes over your time and occupies your mind.'

'Revenge may not be the answer for everyone, but it sure does taste sweet as h*ll when you get one! I'm giving it a 5-star review and will surely do it again next time!'

Matthew thought as he was dragging the crocodiles' bodies into the forest one by one.

Matthew was doing it nonchalantly and didn't realize that a pair of eyes were watching him very closely from the depths of the lake.
