The pressure surrounding them was immense but right now, only one of them was being affected by the King's fierce aura.
Treegan could not understand what he had done wrong to be subjected to the King's wrath first thing this morning.
However, he did not object or question his Master. Instead, he stood in silence, enduring his breathlessness due to the fierce aura as he waited for the King to speak.
King Zander knew that his loyal aide would never question his authority but right now, he was in search of some answers and he needed them right now.
"His medication. Where is it?" He interrogated in a stern voice.
The duty of delivering the patient's medication had been assigned to his aide yet now the King had been informed that this task had never been completed.
Treegan had never once disobeyed his commands and this could be considered to be the first time that he had not finished a task.
Forget about being ahead of schedule like he always was. This time, he did not even bother to complete the task given to him.
Confused at first, Treegan soon realized what his Master was asking of him.
This resulted in a mouthful of saliva being gulped as his head lowered and his forehead laced with sweat due to his nervous apprehension.
Yesterday, after sending Doctor Bundt back to his room, Treegan was asked to come back later once the medication was prepared.
His task was to accept this medication from the old man after which he was supposed to deliver it to the patient, Rein Melk.
However, thinking of how the chamberlain had practically chased him out and even glowered at him for saving him while he was unconscious, Treegan was unwilling to do so.
Doctor Bundt revealed that the medicines meant for Rein would be done in a couple of hours.
Treegan had enough time to complete his other tasks then return to pick the medication up before delivering it.
Unwilling as he was, he agreed to this and left the Doctor to go about his usual duties which he fulfilled every day.
The patient too had disclosed that he would be sleeping after chasing them out of his room.
Thus, Treegan shrugged and rushed to complete his other tasks.
Busy with his duties, he forgot all about the task concerning Rein, and in the evening, he had to follow his Master which had caused the matter of delivering the medicines to slip out of his mind entirely.
Therefore, Treegan had no one else to blame but himself for not completing the task that his Master had handed over to him.
Reina was clueless about what was going on but from what she could decipher, she was sure that Treegan was in trouble.
One handsome man leering at another was the glorious sight she was beholding so she did not utter a word and observed them from the corner.
"I shall accept my punishment, Master." Treegan fell to his knees as he proclaimed his negligence.
Firstly, he had decided to delay sending the medication to Rein on account of being mad at him but later, the very thought of sending it to the other servant had slipped his mind.
For Treegan, Rein was not someone important, someone who deserved his attention.
Thus he had forgotten about the task concerning the Chamberlain.
But the fact was that due to his prejudice against Rein, he had failed to complete the task his Master had entrusted to him.
Therefore, he was willing to pay the price of the mistake he had made in his attempt to get back at Rein Melk.
'Shame on you!' Reina narrowed her eyes once she understood what had taken place after the kneeling man's confession.
King Zander retracted the stifling aura that had been surrounding Treegan once his knees hit the floor.
If he was willing to confess his crimes and also seek retribution then the benevolent Master would not make things difficult for him.
Thus, he turned his gaze to the man who was standing next to the kneeling figure.
"How do you suggest he be punished?" King Zander's calm words thoroughly shocked the two before him.
Reina was startled to hear that she was supposed to decide his punishment while Treegan felt humiliated that this mousy aide was in charge of such a task.
He was willing to face any punishment if it were from his Master but from this man, he was reluctant and his disapproval was apparent after taking a look at his clenched fists.
After giving it a moment's thought, Reina's icy blue eyes glinted with mischief as she shot a sideways glance at the other aide.
'Since he did not think about Rein's health earlier and always tried to trouble her then maybe I should return the favor.' She surmised before turning her gaze towards the King.
King Zander had been observing those blue eyes and had caught the mirth that danced around in them before it faded away.
"As Sir Treegan did not care for my illness, I shall let him experience what it feels like to be sick as well." She announced which made Treegan almost fall to the ground from his current position.
He had been under the assumption that the mousy man would speak a few words in his favor to help him regain his favorable impression before their Master and maybe even help him evade punishment.
However, nothing of that sort had taken place and the chamberlain had even chosen the method for his punishment.
King Zander also had similar thoughts initially but after noticing the sly look in his servant's eyes, he was sure that this would not happen.
'Molt was at fault here.' He would have punished the man even if Rein had spoken in his favor.
Furthermore, if Rein had acted as per his speculations by speaking up for Treegan then he would have punished them both.
Treegan for the act of going against his orders and Rein for disregarding his instruction and being kind to someone who had caused him harm.
King Zander did not care about the animosity between his two aides, all that mattered to him was that his order had been disobeyed and someone had to pay for the consequences of their actions.
"Any objections?" He questioned Treegan Molt who shook his head in reply before bowing in acceptance of whatever punishment that would be given to him.
He then gestured to Rein to reveal the punishment he had come up with and the chamberlain was quick to comply with his orders.
Reina did not miss the scowl that Treegan had shot her but right now, she was not affected and even liked it.
'Hot guys look good no matter what expression they have on.' She sighed at her pitiful heart which even appreciated his scowling face.
Looking up she did not make them wait for long and began explaining what she had in mind.
The more she elaborated the punishment she had come up with, the more their faces darkened.
She could even catch a glimpse of Treegan's lip twitching in fury but she ignored him and fixed her eyes on the King.
"Are you sure about this?" King Zander also had his doubts but Rein's confident nod caused him to halt his next sentence.
He then glanced at Molt with a gaze filled with pity and found that his aide was also staring back at him with pleading eyes.
"It is settled then." King Zander coughed and looked away from those violet eyes of his aide and shadow, who was asking for help, hoping to escape this odd punishment Rein Melk had come up with.
However, he was bound to face disappointment as his Master averted his eyes from his imploring face.
"Treegan Molt, be prepared to receive your punishment at the break of dawn." He announced and waved his wrist, dismissing him.
Treegan bowed at his Master in acceptance of this command before turning his narrowed eyes towards the unlucky one who had brought him troubles.
Reina's gloating face and those icy blue eyes twinkling with mischief only infuriated him further, making him grit his teeth.
'Just you wait!' He glowered at the other aide who was the source of all his miseries today.
He did not wish to see his face any longer as his anger would only rise.
Therefore, he got to his feet then lowered his head towards his Master one last time.
In the next second, Reina's eyes held surprise and awe when the ikemen vanished from the room.
'Cool! Can I do that as well?' She tried to look through her memories to see if Rein had tried to pull that same stunt but found none.
King Zander felt that his servant was acting odd when he saw how the silver-haired Rein was glancing around to ensure that Treegan had left the room.
"Back to work." He dictated, reminding him that work was still pending.
Reina snapped out of her wandering thoughts at these words and rushed to finish her tasks.
She arranged for the King's attire of the day then went ahead to place his towels in the bathroom.
Bowing to him once she was done, she took her leave and escaped from the room.
Zander stood in the same spot and stared at the door which was shut.
However, more than the shut door, he found something else to be amusing.
His brows raised when he heard the sound of the latch, indicating that his chamberlain had just locked the door separating their rooms.
Sneering at his vigilant behavior, Zander ran his fingers through his soft black hair before heading to the bathroom where he would begin his day.
'Things will soon become interesting.' He smirked when a certain thought came to his mind just as his figure disappeared from this room.
