Chereads / Tricking The Vampire King / Chapter 24 - The Only Coward In The Room

Chapter 24 - The Only Coward In The Room

The water that the King was merrily gulping down right now had come from the fountain of fresh water in the far end of the palace grounds.

The fountain was located inside the woods that she had seen last night.

Even though it was situated in the middle of the woods, it was clean as ever and did not hold any traces of impurities that she could find.

This was due to the fact that not only the water in this fountain but also the fountain itself was enchanted.

The fountain was capable of keeping its water pure while the water in it cleansed the impurities present in the body of whoever consumed it.

While this may seem like a useful charm, it had its disadvantages.

Disciplined consumption was required to ensure its effectiveness and also help its potency last for a long time.

When Rein Melk had first arrived in the Palace, she found the existence of a secret fountain hidden in the woods during one of her rare walks.

Being a loyal servant, the first thing she did was inform the King about it.

Once the King heard about the presence of such a magical fountain in the woods, he was kind enough to notify his men of its existence as well.

Upon inspection, it was confirmed that the legend was true and their bodies did experience a change.

Their powers also felt sharper than before which helped them advance faster in their training as well.

While they made full use of the fountain's water in the beginning, they slacked and eventually stopped visiting the fountain once they felt better.

It was as though the memory of the fountain had been wiped away from their minds eventually as they stopped visiting it every day.

Over the past many years, only Rein Melk continued to fetch water for the King each morning before the sun could grace the Palace grounds.

Therefore, this morning as well, Reina had to follow the memories she had gained to reach this enchanted fountain.

From what she could recall, this fountain had been built by the previous King upon his Queen's insistence and had been forgotten after their reign had come to an end.

Rein's arrival revived the memory of that fountain in the residents of this Palace but once again they had forgotten about it.

When Reina received these memories, she felt that the fountain had wiped itself away from the minds of those who did not visit it often.

However, she shook her head, rejecting this theory she had come up with regarding the fountain she had been to today.

Coming back from her disgruntled thoughts of walking to the fountain early in the morning just to fetch a glass of water for the King, she noticed that the same King had finished drinking.

Accepting the empty glass, she placed it on the table and bowed to the man before heading to the bathroom.

Before King Zander could get off the bed and place his feet on the floor, Rein had completed preparing a bath for him.

"I shall prepare your clothes, Your Majesty." She announced and rushed to her next task.

The King who had been watching his servant scurrying around the room was surprised to see him in good health so soon.

'He healed from Amaira's poison too quickly.' He surmised while recalling that the daughter of the Omarun clan had a great prowess in the art of poisons.

"Looks like your medication has been working well." He muttered, assigning this hasty recovery to his doctor's skills.

Reina's hand which was picking out his clothes halted as these words caught her attention.

"Medication?" She repeated, turning to face him with a confused look on her face.

This reaction caused King Zander's brows to furrow.

"Did Molt not bring over your medication?" He inquired and saw her shaking her head in a quick reply.

'That annoying man did not come back after leaving with the Doctor.' She recalled and was sure of this.

When she had woken up later in the evening from her long nap yesterday, she was alone in the room and nothing new was found around her.

This gave her the confidence to answer the King without any hesitation.

King Zander had been observing his servant's face and finding no falsity in those icy blue eyes, he narrowed his.

'What did I do now?' Reina gulped when she saw those tiger-like eyes being aimed at her.

"Molt," The King's voice was heard in the silent room, making Reina's shoulders straighten.

In the next moment, she felt a tiny gust of wind right next to her.

Startled at the sudden emergence of a figure beside her, Reina did what any normal person in that situation would do.

"Eeekk!" She yelped as her stiff shoulders jerked.

Her odd reaction made the newcomer and the King stare at her with disgust evident in their eyes.

'Weak' They had the same thought in their minds at this moment as they leered at the only coward in the room.

'You popped out of nowhere so don't you dare give me that look!' She glared and glowered at the man now standing next to her.

Since she possibly could not even imagine surviving after glaring at the King, she decided that this man was the safest option on whom she could let out her frustrations.

However, her eyes which had been narrowed at him in anger, froze when she saw the state that he was in at this moment.

Dripping wet brown hair that loosely fell over his shoulders was a stark contrast to the tight ponytail that she had seen yesterday.

His violet eyes had specks of black mixed in them which she found both intriguing and mesmerizing.

Lastly, his half unbuttoned undershirt which displayed his sturdy and hard pectoral muscles made her throat dry up.

'How did I miss that he was such a hot guy?' Reina gulped her saliva to moisten her throat as a blush appeared on her face.

Reina Gomez, as a human, had many weaknesses and one of them was her inability to resist a pretty face and a good body.

This trait of hers, it appeared that even Rein seemed to possess.

Therefore, she was feasting on the fine body she was graced with this morning.

While no one could beat the pretty face and sculpted body of the King which trumps them all thanks to his similarities with her online husband, Meteor Sama, there was no way that she could look at him without shuddering in fear.

He was the Ruler of this land and could send her head flying with just a snap of his finger.

This made Reina fearful and reluctant to ogle at him, at least openly.

However, right now, the other man she was staring at possessed all the requirements that she looked for in a man, and to top it off, she wasn't scared to gawk at him.

'An ikemen worth simping over.' She declared her stance on this matter.

On the other side, the man who was being stared at without hesitation was beginning to shy away from the heated gaze aimed straight at his chest.

Treegan had just gotten out of the shower when he heard his Master calling out his name so he scrambled to put on his clothes and in his rush, he had failed to notice that he wasn't as presentable as he preferred to be each day.

His appearance was a feast for Reina's eyes and she did not look away, instead was gawking without shame.

'He has a pretty face too.' She analyzed his features once she had completed drooling over his pecs.

In her sight, she found that he was on par with some of the best stars she had seen on TV in her old world.

This thought only made her firm in her belief that this loyal man who served the King was worth simping for.

Both the King and Treegan had noticed how the chamberlain had first glared at the aide before staring at him in a daze.

While King Zander was surprised to see this reaction from his chamberlain, Treegan had already seen the mousy Rein growing wings and acting against him yesterday.

Though Treegan wished to smack his lecherous face away, he had other things to do.

Now was not the time to deal with the gawking fool as Treegan had been summoned by his Master which was more important to him.

"Greetings, Master. What may I do for you?" He inquired with a bow.

King Zander was finally off his bed as he stood before the two aides he had personally selected to follow and serve him.

The pressure that shrouded the room was tremendous and for once, Reina was glad that it was not aimed at her nor was it affecting her.

'You're in trouble.' She gloated while glancing at the pale face of the man whom she had found out to be an ikemen today.
