Nope. Nuh uh.
Leah crawled out of her cage, her wounds flaring up in pain. She tried her best to heal her wounds using aer, but doing such extremely tiring. At best, the wounds didn't feel as painful.
'No! I need to keep going!' Leah thought, dragging herself towards the stairs. She had been living her life so comfortably before that she almost forgot how pain felt. Today, however, was different. And the next coming days. She'd have to do it like the old days.
'Motivation by pure spite!'
Claw by claw, inch by inch, she struggled. For a good five minutes, she spent her time flailing away on the ground, pulling herself from the front door, where her kennel was set, to the staircase that led to the upper floor.
Finally, she had made it to the foot of the stairs. Quite frankly, the thought of what came after didn't quite cross her mind. She didn't exactly envision herself dragging her poor body up the stairs, but she couldn't sleep nor do nothing.
Going through hard times and trying her best was her strong point! Which was awful, because she was considering giving up a few minutes ago. But all she had now was her determination and spite. She was starting from zero, and nothing was going to stop her from achieving her only goal!
"Mrrow!" She snarled a war cry. It was her against these stairs, the only thing between her and her… horrible plan with no backing. It was fine though. It was all going to be okay. It was…
Horrible.
Accidentally putting too much weight on her broken leg, she flailed backwards and fell back down the stairs, just a couple of steps down. Her wounds began to ache much more, but she shook it off and began her ascent once more.
"Mrrrow!"
It was a battle against gods. Almost quite literally. Sinistra had damned her and disallowed her a peaceful death. Now, her biggest battle, a household staircase with relatively shallow steps.
"Mrrow!"
Another battle cry! Another step!
"Mrrrrreeeooooww!"
A victory yet to be won-
"What are you doing?"
On top of the staircase stood a dark, shadowy figure. Slowly, it descended down each step, making its way towards the frightened kitty.
'Must I die once more…?' Leah bemoaned, already giving up. Back to the kennel she goes.
Carefully, the darkened figure carefully picked her up and softly cared her up the stairs. Past three closed doors, and into the only one with light. Her savior opened the door, the light shining onto them.
'Adam?'
For someone so angry and grumpy, Leah was taken aback by his sudden gentle demeanor. Now a bit closer, she could see dark bags under his eyes, and his hair was much more disheveled than she thought. He looked… lifeless. As if someone were tearing away at him.
'Not like I care. But I suppose I could spare your life,' Leah grinned to herself, admiring her benevolence.
Adam lazily tossed the cat onto the bed, which happened to be messy and undone, scattered with random papers and documents.
'Nevermind. I want to kill you. Now,' she nearly hissed, wanting to claw away at his face.
Adam trudged back over to his desk, which was also covered in piles and piles of documents. Now that Leah was paying more attention, his entire room was covered in papers and strings with bulletin boards covered to the brim with papers and sticky notes. It was as if his room were torn straight out of a detective movie.
Just a bed, desk, chair, lamp, and nothing but stacks and stacks of paper covering the room. It was the grade A definition of insanity.
One thing stood out to her the most. A bulletin board right above his desk, just hovering above his computer monitor. It was the neatest out of all the mess scattered throughout the room. 6 papers neatly pinned, with room for more.
Leah's eyes widened.
'Maybe Sinistra isn't as horrible.'
The documents all had pictures of random gray-occulos civilians, each stamped with a big red "deceased".
And the first document had her photo.
